Munki's Ebb n Flow 3 x 3 SCROG 400W HPS Grow

So u attribute the split stem to the rigidity of the stem itself? I thought u did that. It should be cool. I've used duct tape b4. What's with the rubbing of the stem, did I miss something? And what do u mean about pullin off a grow where U wouldn't dare. f that's what ur used to,I'm sure U would. Had no clue this is ur 1st grow and u went hydro? U got balls dude. I haven't even touched hydro. Lookin at ur journal, seein 420fied and PitVipers journals, its only a matter of time b4 I take a stab at it. Lookin good tho munk, like a "blanket of buds"

Thanks man. I just remember when I first read your journal, you didn't want to even carry PVC pipe into your living area as that would attract bad attention. Not being able to have a ready excuse for using a lot of the materials needed would make it extra difficult. I tried to keep my grow on the down low, but still everyone in my household figured it out soon enough. So for you to do what you do in your urban setting without people knowing is a testament to your stealth. Hat's off to you.

Stem rubbing....that is starting to sound dirty! I did it and was surprised that it had a somewhat different smell than the flowering tops.

As far as starting with hydro, for me it seems easier than dirt. Sure there are less components with dirt but getting the right mix of dirt and managing the waterings and nutrients seemed challenging. The lag time between an action like nutrient add and seeing the result in the plant can be days with dirt where in hydro, the change is seen within a day. This makes it much easier to note cause and effect and if something is wrong, it would be easier to solve. I think dirt would be more challenging. I will get there down the road and definitely when outdoor grows are attempted.

I can appreciate how u articulate ur opinion. Leaves little room 4 questions. Yeah, I c what ur sayin. Cops around to much and I got live ass neighbors, and we're all stoners except for 1 or 2 people. U can walkby and damn near always smell somethin in the air. I would give details but ne 1 in the area would know it was me if they read it and I don't know how many other setups are on my street. I hear things. Just like I don't wanna be seen w/PVC, I watch things. If I watch, I assume I'm being watched.Any one the knows growing knows what's needed. For reasons I can't explain PVC is just a bad idea for me, lol. NE how. Great journal man. What u hopin to pull out this 1 (dry weight)?

Just realized our grows are only 2 days apart. I'll be comparing since your using an HPS & i'm not. Just so you know, I think your winning lol.

I went over a month under just fluorescents in my phototron, so this won't even exclusively be completed under high intensity lighting. I will say that once you go HPS, it's hard to go back. :;):

What u hopin to pull out this 1 (dry weight)?

You :grinjoint: ! I think you already asked me that a couple of times but I'm sure I've done the same to a few people around here myself.

Well, I guesstimate my screen coverage at 5 square feet. Tallest buds at the edges rise to 4 inches above the screen. Ones in the middle have only an inch or 2 above the screen but since the actual wire is bowed up in the middle from the plants pushing on it, the actual tops come out pretty even. I expect little stretch from here on out. A fair amount of budsites exist just below the screen as well. So, that comes out to a "whole lotta buds" once I'm done but since this is my first time, I haven't got a clue. The extended heat wave may reduce the bud density, but since they haven't started packing on the weight yet, I think I'll be OK.

Got a few bud shots tonight. It has been hot, so it sure is interesting to see that snow is accumulating on the leaves! :;):

i'm there with you on this heat wave.Damn i just want it to rain or get cloudy already..this heat is killing me.even with the a.c on it hot as hell soon as you step outside your melting. what day are you at now? sorry i 'm kinda stoney at the moment.

not to make you guys jealous or anything but its been mid 70's here all week. lol. i was thinking of cutting the ac soon and just exhausting my tent air to save electricity.

I am a beginner but I would say that my crop looks pretty good for being in a heat wave. Today will be the 10th day of well above normal temps but should be the last day. Mid to upper 70s will be their future :cheertwo:

thank god. I hate august heat..I love going to the beach and surfing all day long but damn when i'm not in the water its was hot as hell this month.but the winters pay off.with perfeect weather and good color in the nugs with the low temp.

Munki you planning a grow for the winter as well?

Yes. My current idea is to crack the two free Dynafem seeds I got with my order from the Attitude a while back. I have one RoadRunner Autoflower femmed and a California Hash Plant femmed. Plan is to make another flood bucket and put each plant in its own bucket with a grow bag. No ScrOG or anything fancy as the autoflower cannot be controlled. I plan to just run the HPS on a 20/4 cycle for two months or however long it takes to finish off the RoadRunner. I'll chop that and I should by then have a monster vegged hash plant. I'll then just grow that out; maybe I'll ScrOG it for its flower period. I'll have to assess when I see how it looks. Maybe I'll poll the audience here on what to do with it at that time.

I figured winter was a good time to do this as the lamp will be on so much. The produced heat would be a detriment in the summer but an asset in the winter.

your on point about your whole sitch.great job on setting up a schematic for the winter months.

Your one step ahead of where most growers are.most ussually just let thier systems run as is weather summer or winter(this is a fatal mistake unless a.c. is built within the system)i supplement by having a variety of bulbs available. You'll be pretty happy with the cali hashplant.I've used it in a breeding project i did a while back, but let the strain go.i have friends who still grow the project, thats what the actual strain was named. It was a cross of cali hashplant x tainwreck then crossed with white widow then crossed with o.g kush.it was all an experimental game me and some friends had.came out great just grew it for soo long got over it.it's been stabalized and has 3 phenos.wish i had picts.maybe i can get hold of some.the hash plant gave the genes a trait that i couldnt get rid of.which is that the calyxes are huge on the strain.i mean FAT.Thats what makes the hashplant own of my fav strains.the calyxes are unbelievably fat.or at least thats how my phenos were of it.(meaning the cali hashplant)Ohh,, and cant forget to mention that lemon/lime pungent scent..

I thought about cracking a few other seeds to look for a male and breed it but I'm just not set up to deal with all the plants. Some day in the future. Can't wait to see how they do.

yeah when you first pick your mom and father to breed it take alot of space depending on how many you look for.i cracked an average of about 10 seeds from each of those strains just to pick the males/females.it was fun, but back then there sem to be less breaders then there was now days, so we were all into it, as a group.

Those girls are looking nice! Keep the pics rollin:popcorn:

Oh it is rarely an issue for me to post lots of pics. :welcome: aboard.

As cannabis cultivation gets more accepted and mainstream here, I hope we as growers can come together in a more overt way so we can trade genetics or maybe pool our growing areas to a larger breeding project. We could accomplish a lot as a group and can all share in the spoils!

that will be the days

Never thought in my lifetime that I could grow weed legally in the states but yet here I am doing just that. I have faith.
