Morglie's Perpetual: New Space & New Strains

Look for desired traits in F2 then, make F3s and then backcross one female or male to P1. You should get something really interesting that way. I think your first BX was done too early to make a difference and, cause generations were close to each other it didn’t have a good effect on the potency or vigour. Backcross really works well, but betqeen distant generations.

Backcross really works well, but between distant generations.
I feel like I am finally getting somewhere with all this breeding stuff. I know BX was a thing used to reinforce desired traits, but I never really understood the importance of distancing generations. You see some breeders talking about an F( or something, and I wonder - what kind of rabbit hole are they chasing by going all the way to F9. They probably run 1000 plants at a time. But doesn't inbreeding for that long narrow the gene pool, and weird shit starts happening.

I think it is also weird that you had 2 purple plants, but the offspring are green? How many did you run? Are there genes that have to both be present before the purpling happens? What are those called co - something? Genes that depend on each other?

There’s inbreeding depression, but only if you inbreed the wrong way like weak plants without vigour ab too close too each other. Also backcrossing then becomes important, cause it reinvigorates the line. But you can’t do it all the time. It’s better to inbreed a bit and see what you really have.

I appreciate the information. I've been mostly experimenting to see what happens when... I need to get a better plan on how I'm approaching things.

I've only ran the two so far. The other was a male and I culled him. It's just that I thought the purple was a recessive trait and it was evident in both parents without any temperature changes to make it happen. If that's the case the offspring should all show it. There's more at work here with the color.

I'll say this though, the buzz is right up there if not a bit more positive and not so emotionaly numbing. I'm really looking forward to this plant. It's got around three more weeks before harvest.

And then a month later.... Yes, I'm somehow getting 4 weeks of hang time till they need trimmed. It's kind of nice not having to trim it yet, but I'm seeing all of this time in trim jail adding up......
At least there's trim to puff on while I'm doing it.
:rollit:

Hey Morglie, how did/do you like the Malawi x PCK? My tester at 9 weeks was excellent. I've got it on the drying rack now, I let it go 74 days from flip. Mine had no color and sure looks like a Malawi leaner but it was more uplifting than pure Malawi. I think I'm really going to like it. This is the 1st strain I've grown that the wife said I taste gas, I get heavy terpentine from it. I can't place it with their flavor descriptions, I was hoping for caramelized honey.

I have a strain in my seed bank, that I call Honey Dog. Any time I grew it, the buds came out smelling of honey. One day I'm gonna pop all my beans to see if it's worth reproducing.

I could send these beans to someone who could run the whole pack and make F2. Finishes in 42 days.

He'd probably have to get another garage :)

It’s a medium height plant. Full season maybe 6-7 feet. Quick flowering is guaranteed. It’s a cross of Aurora Ultra x Grape Ape. I’d love to see it grown partly outdoor at least :passitleft:

I'm finishing out my third run of the plant I grew. I personally would have dropped it sooner but I've had people tell me they really like it so I kept it an extra round. The flavor is similar to my purple Malawi with a bit of menthol in the nose and it has really cool looking foxtailed buds from the PCK influence. The buzz was a nice hybrid buzz. That being said, the buzz was kind of generic.

I picked it up with the hopes of seeing what carmalized honey flavored bud was like.

How many seeds do you have? I was just trying to figure out how fit more plants in my rooms.....
Oh, this was my lower veg yesterday.
The honey flavor is intriguing though.
Morglie?? Come on what you say? It's not like you don't have enough seeds to make already.
Lol, I just made a few cuts yesterday to try and bring my plant count into moderation. It doesn't help that I'm vegging plants that are feeding my flower room, along with outdoors, and the Mulange that are going into my breeding room. And I'm planning on taking cuts of all of them. I hope I find a good productive strain. I'm going to need it... o_O

Is that the same Aurora Ultra that's in Ultra Dawg?

Speaking of UD, I harvested the Sinai x Ultra Dawg yesterday morning. That's the nub left of it in the back corner in the veg shot.

Here's the top cola. She's got some heft to her. The buds are all foxtails, but they are dense.

That sound awesome. I have a mental checklist of flavors I want to fill. I think back to some I let go and could cry now. One of the most unique flavors I experienced was strawberry Cough, it tasted like cinnamon. That plant was suseptable to powdery mildew so I let it go. Honey would be so cool to find.
One of the reasons I'm trying to reveg this Sinai cross is because of the intense lime smell it has. I'm with you, I want a large variety of aromas in my strains.

I have the space to expand more but I don't think I could do it and work a full time job as well, and the job is what's paying the bills. I'd love to be able to grow as a profession, but by the time it goes legal around me, all the big companies are where the dispensaries will be buying from. All the small operations are going to get squeezed out.
Hmmm. I might be willing to do it. It is actually something I have been wanting to try - indoor, open pollination. I was going to start with a pack of Lebanese at the end of the summer. What is the high from the Honey Dog like?
Yes, what is the high like?

Damn my seed obsession.

Sorry I must’ve been stoned. The parents are Chemdawg ‘91/NYCD and Grape Ape. It’s a sister strain to UD.

My name is lazy I'm a seedaholic. :passitleft:
I need to organize mine and defrost my freezer. Maybe I'll do that today. I'm kind of scared to count how many different crosses I have. I'm guessing I'm over 50.

That sounds like an interesting cross. The chem line is one I've never messed with beyond it's inclusion in UD. Honey you say....
Thanks Amy, I'll take a hit of that. Time to start the wake and bake.:passitleft:

Me Too! flavors and smells. cinnamon, that takes the cake, good one!
I want an old time cream soda like smell, I had a stem rub from a young China yunnan male that was very much like cream soda. the smell faded tho. as it got older. But, It was eye opening.

I also seem to be chasing that Lime smell. I gets Pine and Lemons and citrus-y all the time it seems.
Never a real Lime. arse! Hahaha! All Good!

I got lost there for a second. Took a tiny 1/2 a hit from my zamaldelica cob last night. Oh Dear...Hits with a rush, High as# at first 10 min. then a good happy mellow energy. Kept me awake a bit longer than I wanted but I slept sounds as can be. I think the cure is really helping with my ZamD harvest.

HI Guys :ciao:
