Morglie's Perpetual: New Space & New Strains

If I had a nice fridge with RH control, I'd go slow and dry all the way. But currently I'm hanging dry for a few days and then stick the buds in the fridge. It works quite well though.

That's what I was doing previously. I get nervous if they take to long though with the buds squished in a jar without circulation. Hanging in the box I made, with a PC case fan drawing out of the box, has proven to be handy. It can be in the high 80s constantly for humidity and I haven't had a single issue with PM starting. The key is the air flow. I'm hoping it works as well once the summer hits and the temp starts rising. Even if it gets cut in half to a week and a half, that's still not bad.

Well, out of my first 5 P13s I'm working with, 2 clones out of the 3 I have died. The second group only has 2 females in it, which only leaves me 3 females to work with, along with the 5 males. One of the ones I lost is smelling like my favorite pheno I've found so far. Hopefully I find a good one in the second group. If not, I'll make F2s later with another group of seeds.

I did take pollen from the first 2 to pollinate a bud on my P13 x Kerala they both appear to be similar. One of the males in the second batch started alternating nodes early and is looking to be one of the cedar scented ones. I'm going to pollinate another bud with that male to try two different back crosses. I'm really looking the look of the Kerala cross. It's very similar to the straight Kerala bud formation but it's quite a bit quicker. The cross is about a month behind the straight Kerala but it looks like it could be done in half the time.

Is it a halogen lamp on the left?

Is it a halogen lamp on the left?
yes, I've been running a space heater in flower to get the room warm enough and figured it would add heat along with some extra lumens, so I wouldn't have to run the heater so hard.
Cool to see them side by side.

Ha. Ya con I think it is! Do they give good light? I thought the spectrum was wrong? Great for heat maybe.
Yes, I just noticed how similar the bud structure was when I was looking at them yesterday. I'm hoping some of the electric sativa buzz from the Kerala carries over.

They arrived!

There's already a Nepjam and an Orient Express x Nepjam soaking for outdoors.

I should have some Purple Satellite here by the end of the week to add to these two as well. The outdoor grow should be pretty decent. I'm planning on popping 2 Satellites. That way I should be good to get at least 1 female.

I'm wanting to run 4 outdoor girls this year and I think I'm going to throw one of the cuts of P13 outside as well to finish out the group. I'm really enjoying it and want to see how it fares outdoors.

Very nice! I am looking forward to growing PS with you! Outdoors? Keepem dang teenagers away?

Do you know what technique they use to create fem seeds?,,, or should I say - How do they reverse their females?
Fem seeds are made by reversing a female and pollinating another female with it. There are only X chromosomes.

Yes, definitely need to keep them away this year...
Nice haul there Morglie. I love when new seeds arrive. Funny how they always find a way to the front of the line. I have so many strains I've not grown out yet but as soon as that package arrives with new seeds they always find a way to the front of the line.
Yes, they always do. I've got a batch of UD lined up soon though. Gotta check that line or properly.
:yummy:

UD is an outdoor strain, let’s just hope there’s gonna be a female in the bunch. Also these seeds are getting old, so soak them properly for 48-72 hrs and they’ll pop :thumb:

I'm planning on running them indoors to select for F3s. I'll have to try some outdoors next season. Hopefully I don't run into clone issues like I have with the P13s.

I've taken to letting my seeds soak until they pop tails. I've had to many that just don't want to germinate when I plant them straight into soil. This way when I plant them, I know if I don't see them in around 4-5 days I'm not going to and I can move on instead of playing the waiting game.

I am doing the same now that so many have been eaten by hot soil, they need a head start

I've been using strictly 1st run soil for planting seeds for a while now. I'm getting closer to needing to dig into it though. I've got 2 full kits of 3rd run I'm working through, then it'll be back to all new 1st run soil. The flower garden is going to be happy soon, with all this added soil coming up.
OTH!!! nice ace seed run. super happy for ya.....:headbanger:
Yep. I've been tossing around picking up Old-timer's ever since I first started researching seeds and I finally did it. It'll be a fun one to run. I may pop another Kerala when I run them, to see which one is quicker. :ganjamon:

Well, the purple trait didn't breed true in my Purple Dawg F2s, but the one I have going in flower has the ripe mango flavor from the mother, so at least the flavor carried over. I've been smoking on an early tester, 6 weeks I think, and it's got some legs already. I was listening to Jack Johnson while I was working in the garden today while I was puffing on it and I caught myself singing and dancing along to the music, several times. I've got the last bud off the branch I trimmed loaded in the pipe for the morning harvest.

Purple Dawg BX is coming down in the morning, along with the Sinai X UD that I'm going to reveg. The BX is getting dropped from rotation to make room for all the Ace plants coming up.

Killer A5 and Bubba Hash are both getting close to being ready. This A5 wants to get bushy. Lots of lateral crossing branches on her.

I'm rambling... Good smoke.:passitleft:

F2 is recombination of all genetic information through multiple genotypes, so you need to pick two plants you wanna work with and make F3 to check if this reinforces desired traits. Then if you’d like to enhance Malawi or UD traits you can backcross to P1 stock or keep inbreeding the line. There is no easy answer here, it depends on what you’re looking for. Both lines are strong in their own regard, so it’s really hard to improve their quality. But you can work on yield and flowering time to get short flowering Malawi leaning line or high yielding UD leaning one with terpene profile of your choice.

Interesting... 6 weeks... It might still purple up. What did the parents look like? Were they both purple?

The ones I have are F1 right?... sorry I always forget.
It would have turned already at this point based on how the F1s turned. The mother was purple and the father showed purple as well, so I was thinking it was reinforced, but it must not be recessive in this line. My flower room is also dropping into the high 50s at night so it would be purpling from the environment off it was going to. The BX I've been running doesn't change either and this F2 looks a lot like the BX. Green buds that have the more nugget shape that UD has. The flavor on both reaks of the Malawi mother in the cross. The BX dropped in potency to where most strains are. The F2 seems to have retained the potency as its already stronger at 6 weeks.

And yes, you have F1s. The BX is nice, but it doesn't have the mind blistering high of the F1 and F2 generation. I need to start cycling in the F2s and look for a keeper.

I'm going to start working the F2s through rotation looking for a 'keeper'. I'm finding that running a group at once is challenging as it's really pushing my plant count up there. At that point, I'll probably pop a group to look for a male that looks similar to the female. There's not a lot I'd like to do with the strain as far as working it goes. The mother I used for the F2 is pretty close to what I want from the strain. Dark purple, mind blistering energizing buzz. 9 weeks to finish, and it yields pretty decently. The only thing that bothers me, is that it doesn't bush very well unless you force it to. That's more laziness on my part though, as I don't like to have to do a lot of LST. That's a lot of time with all the plants I have running. I need to do a count again. I think once these current clones root, I'll be breaking 40 plants...
