Morglie's Perpetual: New Space & New Strains

I thought this made a nice comparison. Bubba Hash in the foreground and the same cut pollinated by Mulanje in the background. You can see the same bud structure.
And while we're in Bubba Hash. Here's a cut that got pollinated by the Kerala male I had recently. I try to keep them small as I don't need a ton of seeds.
Kerala coming along. I can see confirmed seeds in the lower branch I pollinated so I'll have some F2s from her.
The Lambnesia I got from @weenmeoff. She's starting to take off in flower.

And speaking of digging in their toes, this Ultra Dawg is really digging the big pot I put her in.
Peace

Impressive!
Are those Durban beans popping?
Still have yet to receive the Durban from Lerruged. May take a little longer for the mail, but have noticed when anything negative happens around the world like the situation with Iran. Well seems everything is rerouted through Chicago, and is usually confiscated.

I had one crank that I planted 3 days ago but it hasn't popped it's head up yet. One more just barely cracked open today, I'm letting it soak another day or two though with the rest. Hopefully they all are viable. They've been soaking since the 25th though, so I'm not certain how likely that is. Time will tell.

Thanks, good to know.

I've not seen a lot of info on these beans. I found a forum for TSC, but it wasn't in English and my monolingual self couldn't figure out much. I'll keep them soaking. I've had times where I've soaked seeds for a couple of weeks before they crack and I plant them.
I'm fingers crossed hard here guys. Really hoping they get through.
Same here Lerugged. It wouldn't be the first time I've had seeds confiscated. Hopefully they make their way here.
still watching the mailbox here I had a pkg. take 4 weeks to get here its been 3 so ill wait another week before I get to worried but that's the chance you take when you have to send something through the mail theres no guarantees :) wait its not over until its over! here take a hit of this Malawi it will ease your pain!:passitleft:

UD is starting to show Ca deficiency. She needs copious amounts of it. Just FYI :)

With your input, I was thinking they might need the surface scratched up a little before they hit the soak.

Thanks. She's in 1st run kit soil, so I'm kind of baffled as to how she'd be lacking in calcium as kit soil is saturated with it.

What would you recommend to add more calcium into the mix? Would calcium carbonate be quick enough of release to do it?

I've never done that before. Is that taking the seeds and rubbing them on high grit sandpaper paper before you soak them?

One of the 4 that are soaking cracked 2 days ago. It still barely has a nub of it's trail out though. I normally like to let a tail at least twice the length of the seed emerge to ensure its going to do something. I've seen seeds poke out just the tip and then sit there for weeks without doing anything enough times, that I know not to trust that it's going to come up from that state.

I'm pretty sure I've seen advertising for this strain for at least 4 years, and it's exclusive enough, I bet they're still selling the initial harvest they had. These seeds could be 5-10 years old.

There is supposed to be loads of calcium in the drenches. I would maybe spray destress on her and drench her on the heavy side.

And yes you can scarify using sand paper. I do not know what grit you want to use. I feel it is usually fine sand paper that is used. You can roll the sand paper into a tube just big enough for the seed to fit into and hold it between your thumb and pointer finger and shake it. I have also heard of people lining match boxes with sand paper and shaking it but the tube seems easier.

I watched that strain for years, it was unavailable. Literally for 4years I waited, I had set up the notify when in stock on their site.

Then I got an email and from what I recall reading it was an fresh batch. However I see them selling USC strains and know from my conversations with Cristalin of USC. They haven't worked with TSC in a few years now.
Those seeds are old except maybe the 72 Colombian gold provided jahgreenlabel is still working with them he is the keeper of the 72.

As far as scarring them I use 100 grit sandpaper. Rolled and taped into a tube that fits between my forefinger and thumb. Just a light 2 or 3 second shake is enough. This has worked on a lot of old or hard to crack strains. I usually soak those in good water with a .03 Hydrogen Peroxide ratio.

Growth is Calcium Nitrate, so a good strong drench of that will add available Cal. But increased microbial activity will also increase availability. So stronger drenches in general would be best.

I just realized I never finished this post yesterday.

Cool, thanks for the info.

I think the reason she's suffering is because I had her root bound in a 5 gallon bucket not long ago. I put them into 17 gallon totes, but most of the middle of the tote is still the root ball, and she hasn't hooked up to the extra soil on the ends yet. I'll snap a pic to better illustrate.
You can see the dry area in the middle where the root mass from the 5 gallon is. And before the soil police show up and start issuing tickets, I topped both off and gave them each a very heavily GE from the top. Let's see if that helps.

Thanks Gray! I was reading the contents and decided on the GE from that. 4x dose, which came to almost a cup of the stuff between the two! 140ml split between the two plants. I'll give them a heavy Tran next time to boost the microbial population.

I tried prying the one open that had cracked and couldn't get a purchase on it with my tweezers. It still is only has the nub out. I'm going to take a look at the others. What's your thoughts on using sandpaper on the ones that haven't cracked yet even though they've been soaking? I'm thinking of trying it today.

And now for some more pics of what's going on in the grow room.

(P13 x Kerala) x P13. These 4 plants all popped between the 1st and the 6th of January. The big one that is almost double the size was on the 5th. I think it's showing a bit of extras vigor.
There's a wide variety of leaf widths on these. To compare, here is the one I've already grown out.

I realized the group picture was showing off my survival game for clones so I thought I'd explain things. When I trim plants up I've taken to putting the cuttings in a measuring cup with water and a ml of cloneX solution I picked up for aqua cloners. I add water periodically, but basically I let them sit there. I've stuck a few into riot rooters and cloned them like normally, but I've been having problems with that, so mostly I just let them sit. Sometimes for a month or more.
I've managed to root 2 of the 3 Ultra Dawgs this way. The 3rd one finally started growing a root on one of the cuttings, but it still needs a bit more growth before I plant it. Here's a couple of Malawi cuts that are happy growing roots in this manner.
I refreshed them with a new cup and water after the picture, but you can see that the water gets fairly gunked up and it's still been working for me. I had about a dozen cuts in that water for a month+. I got these 2, plus another one that is in the far right round pot.
I have to keep them on my work table for about a week as the roots dig in and change to soil roots, but I've been having pretty good success with this method.

I now have 2 copies of my #7 plant (the bushy one) and 3 copies of #4. (The vigorous one). I'm planning on putting one of each outside this year. And the extra #4 and Malawi I just planted will be going to a friend for his outdoor grow.

I think I'm going to just try the 2 plants this year. I've got a spot I've used a couple of times that seems like it should work well as long as I clear out some of the excess growth around it.

Calcium carbonate is tricky as breakdown is very slow. Calcium nitrate and calcium citrate are the best for quick release.

I dont know to be honest, maybe try it on one and see.
