Morglie's Perpetual: New Space & New Strains

You guys got me craving for that Bubba Hash, looking good Morgs. It's amazing how you can keep track of so many strains, good job.
I counted last night and it's 47 not counting the 5 Durban beans I have soaking. I have pages like this on everything. Although normally they don't get marked down until they drink for the first time. I also use dry erase markers on my wall for all my flowering plants that has info like:
- the beginning of flower
- 21 days after flowering starts so that I know when to recharge and give them cats
- estimate on when and what they are drinking next. That way I can see with a glance what is going to need to drink for the day
- and lastly estimate on finish time.

It's a challenge some days, but I love doing it.

Morning all :ciao:Doing a little catch up here....and everywhere. I need to start making proper notes like that. I'm in my 3rd run and each time so far I have started with pristine notes, then they stop at some point cause I feel like I got a mental hold on the process....until I forget something :hmmmm:

I plan on running some of these Sativa next and my brain has been having a hard time processing how to tackle it. I have the LC-18, Double Wild Durban, Transkei, and Malawi from Table Mountain. Any thoughts on this would be great....mostly pot size #5, or #10 and what kind of veg time is ideal. I usually veg for a full month in #10's after transplant..that clearly will not turn out well...I imagine the flip should be close to moving into the final? The open ended 11+ weeks is a little terrifying, but I think I am up for it.

Garden is looking fantastic btw....:bongrip:

That is impressive and you are also working, soon to be 52 and I am having a hard time getting a perpetual 12 running :bravo:

I couldn't tell you how much veg to give them but I can definitely say that everything is better when the plants are allowed to age. I realize it may not be practical to veg 60 days so maybe one of the indoor sativa wizzes can help you there. Might be able to shave a week or two by cutting the hours of light down so 12/12 and then 11/13 and 10/14. Seen some guys do this to get to the finish a bit quicker.
Give a good veg and some heavy training (they like this) and you should be fine. Pot size Will be determined by room size and veg time I guess.

I think a month would definitely be possible if I ran two (or even one) instead of 4 and kept opening them up keeping them flat and low through veg like how you got yours using that screen.

For bloom timing I was looking at....

"Sunshine & Daylight Hours in Durban, South Africa. The longest day of the year is 13:55 long and the shortest day is 10:04 long."
...which makes sense with finishing at 10/14. For veg I plan on using 16/8....or less?

Yeah that should do it . 16/8 fine. I veg in my basic indoor box at 18/6 but should be much the same with 16/8 .
Was just about toit send you daylight hours forto durbs but you found it. They grow in the wild in humid and very hot conditions. Should have no issues with mould.

Thank you. :Namaste:

I run 16/8 in veg and 11/13 in flower and I've found that I don't have to do much to keep the sativas tame beyond topping and spreading them out. From seed I normally veg around 2 months, then throw them into 5s for several weeks up to a month before I flip. This is mostly due to the wet/dry cycles that we run in the kit. Keep in mind that I have 8ft ceilings, which equates to around 7ft of headroom counting the pots. If you have to stay shorter, you'll want to do a lot more training than I do.

If I have one that I think is going to stretch like crazy, I'll either flip them when I up-pot, or in extreme cases like my Kerala, I'll put them in 1 gallon pots, and wait until they're 3-4 weeks into flower before I put them in 5s. That way they have their root space confined during most of stretch. Lerugged is definitely the one to tell you about his strains. Thank you @Lerugged. I'll have some experience with them soon, but you know them way better than I ever will.

I've struggled with keeping things flowing smoothly, but I think I've got a nice cycle going. 1 plant harvested a week is the goal and it's not far off now. Although the different length flowering plants can mess that up at times. The key is the note taking. Don't get lazy or you're screwed. It'll collapse quickly.

Thanks Lerugged! I'm looking forward to running your seeds. The Transki looks incredible. That'll probably be the first one I run. Although miss sticky looks very nice. Ah, the choices.... :D

Hey thems fightin'words. . ..lol

Harvest once a week would be sweet! Only the pros!
:cheesygrinsmiley:
It's taken me a while to get it flowing pretty smoothly. A lot of my recent plants have been mostly 8-10 weekers so they stay fairly consistent. It's those 14+ ones that can mess with timing if I have to many at once.

The real test will come in the next couple of months as all these seedlings take off and I'm starting my veggies as well. Things are going to get cramped really quick.
wouldn't though freshies all the time!
Yes, I'm spoiled with the constant fresh bud. A few of the sativas I've cracked open months later and really enjoy the flavors that have developed, but it's the fresh cuts that normally really burst with flavor.

I agree 100%. The effects are insane on very fresh bud too. I've been blown away by new strains when they are super fresh only to have them become "normal" after they cure. Fresh weed is and will always be my favorite!

sometimes the cure makes them better but I do like the fresh!
So I've been told but I've yet to have any weed that was better than fresh off the rack. The high brix weed is potent, tasty and smooth right out of the gate. As the terps evaporate so does the character of the high. I'll never forget that cherry pastry cut of bcp I had, when it was fresh it felt like someone shot cherry juice into your mouth and it just lingered for a few minutes, almost like a cherry film coated your mouth. When it cured all that was gone.

that cherry sounds good I here ya about the terps!

it makes it easy to let things cure up nice when you have a constant flow of new!
Yes, it is. I always try to stash a jar away of what I really like, so that I can come back to it later.

I find that seems to be fairly common in the very flavorful bud, but I've had some sativas that really benefited from a long cure. I busted out a bowl of ZamPan recently that I harvested back in October of '18. So 15 months cure. The scent was a bit more subdued, but still had a nice floral and incensey aroma. The high was improved. More trippy then it was when it was fresh. And the potency seemed just as high as I remember it.

Your cut of Bubba Hash really calms down after several months of cure. It gets somewhat close to the same smell as the Early Bubba Hash I ran. And it wasn't nearly as scenty as your cut is at harvest.

I can almost smoke Tangie and enjoy it after several months of cure..... Well almost.
