Mmmmick 288W LED Development SCROG White Widow

A couple of things that came up during this grow that I wanted to comment on:

OMM, I was planning to put up pics of the root mass resulting from use of the woven poly bags, so we could see if they acted anything like your airpots. I didn't take any pics because the root mass didn't really get any bigger except in the two plants that were in the back of this screen, and those two didn't use more than 75% of the available promix.

These plants were already flowering when I transplanted them into the bags and from what I am seeing, there is little root growth taking place in flower. There was some root growth in all containers during flower, but it was all directed down rather than sideways.
The 2 plants in the rear went further into reveg than the others because they were the last to begin flowering. This appears to be the reason why they grew a greater root mass than their sisters. Next run I'll be sure to get them transplanted early enough to gain from the larger container size.

I also wanted to be sure to let sisco know that the two buds I tried "girdling" on didn't show any noticeable difference but they were on the WW that fluffed up into a spongy foxtail display and if there was any enhancement due to the girdling I couldn't see it. I'll try it again on a more normal grow to see what gains can be had from the practise.

Since my plants seem to always manage to come down at different times, spreading the chop pics around too much, I'm putting 'em all in this post for easier viewing. All shown with a finger trim and directly after cutting.

I left the i.d. number on each plant for my reference. One last plant to bottle. \

240g dry weight total in the jar. I'm not sure how much that was influenced by the reveg and resulting extended flower time. I hope to get a clean grow in this next run so I'll have a more reliable weight.

My apologies for the inconsistent lighting in the pics.

Well, thanks for trying it out and for the documentation. I will do the same with a couple of clones. I think we need to try it out on clones so we have a better way of comparing. I'll do it to some of the clones..

You did pretty good :slide: with 240g brother. I can't say it enough, Congrats:cool: and thanks again for posting a detailed journal.

No harm in trying. You'll finish before me this round so I'll keep an eye out for your results.

Thanks sisco, I have no complaints, just a few goals for improvements. Anything near these results will keep my stash well supplied in the future.

Re the journal, you're more than welcome. I enjoy doing them and the feedback is often of use or at least entertaining. Lots of good people here on 420.:cheer::)

Mmmmick, I reveged my first white widow since I had no clue on cloning at the time, took her 32 days to regen under 18/6, then she looked like a real glossy house plant with single leaves.

This is a photo from 1 week after I saw she started to regen, she had just started putting out her jagged leaves.

batcave,' I've regenerated a few plants in the past, but I find it's a waste of time. It's gonna take about 45 days, before its bushy enough to put into flower. If I take cuttings at time of switching to 12/12, then i'll have nice bushes , ready to go into flower immediately after harvest, every time !! Just my 2 cents. The only time i regenerate is for some reason all my clones die, Like my lazy ass forgetting to water them and its the only way to save the strain. Or if I buy 10 new seeds and grow them and smoke them all before harvest, and pick the one that's closest to what I'm looking for, and regenerate that plant and then clone, clone, clone !! High Mmmmick !! :hookah::reading420magazine::ganjamon:

Hi weed good to see you're still around.
yeah there was little root growth after these plants were repotted but I figured it was worth a try.
Busy is good to a point, heheh. Gotta have a little time for yourself though.
None of the buds were super dense but most of it was acceptable. The two airy plants were the biggest yields and best smell/flavor, probably due to the extra time they were under the light. Still had 5 oz of good smokeable bud, which should keep me going until next chop. I'll use the airy stuff for edibles if they're still around when I have a fresh crop.

Thanks weedtastic, the leds seem to be doing a decent job. I just keep chipping away at the areas that need improvement. And each grow has been better, so the changes have been beneficial so far.

Sounds like you had a good evening, my friend. I hope there are many more like that in your future.:thanks:

High Slowpuffer. I agree that regenning is slow but it can save the strain in a pinch. I wanted to try at least one to get a bit of an idea how to go about it before it became a necessity. Better to practise when it's not critical than when a screwup means the strain is lost.

How're things going?

Hi Buddy,
Just snooping around around seeing what your up too. Regenning I see.
A slow process, but, like you said...better try it and see how it goes before you need it. So the total was 5 oz.....Thats great! No more emergency buying! :welldone:

Hi OMM.

The regen turned out to be a practise run because the single surviving clone was from the plant that I regenned. So I already had that particular pheno in a viable clone. The other two widows didn't have enough left on them to bother trying a regen.

I guess you could say the total was 5 oz. I intend to consume the airy bud as well, either as edibles or smoke, so I am calling it 8.5 oz's. 3.5 of which was airy.

I'm waiting on one more plant to show sex before filling this screen for another run. Should be able to start up soon.

How have ya been Mmmmick?

I was just playing catch up with your journal and :welldone: on your harvest! Airy, foxtailing or not those Meds look outstanding..

I hope to get an 8.5 oz harvest one of these days....

Great Job my friend..

High Mick,

That was out of a 40"x40" screen, no? I guess tighter buds take up less volume of the grow room... but it also seems they can present problems that airy buds avoid... PM, bud rot, and those danged little caterpillars. I've never done a potency test between tight and airy, but an ounce is an ounce... course one can be shit and the other gold :)

I'm pretty sure in my last grow (43"x43") if I had gone from 3 plants to 4, or even 5, my overall quality would have been better because I wouldn't have been working the plants so much to fill the screen, and I wouldn't have had to accomodate the understory buds just to get something.

Here's hoping for a full screen for you :thumb:

:peace:

Hi L1, I've been hangin in.

Thanks, the airy buds actually look a little better under the scope than the more solid buds. I'll just have to work on tightening them up a little. But as far as potency/smell is concerned they seem to be at least as good as the tighter buds. Bag appeal isn't a major requirement. What I don't use myself goes to a couple of friends who need the meds and they don't complain about free bud.:ganjamon:
If I can come close to 8 oz regularly I'll be more than satisfied with the setup. You'll get there, especially if you can continue to grow outside.
:welcome:
:thanks:

I wish I could continue to grow outside but it's snowing here and these plants can't grow in the snow...:ganjamon: Indoor will have to do for the next few months... Stop by if ya want and check it out.. I would love to have your imput my friend..

yep 1 square meter including the frame.

As long as it does the trick, airy buds suit me fine. Of course the last two plants I chopped were beyond airy, lol. Not that I won't be in those jars if the others run low.

I've been very lucky when it comes to critters. Haven't even seen a fungus gnat for months. And I found a source for Serenade, so any PM issues should be easy to deal with now.

I'm still planning to drop to 4 plants under this screen after I get the next run completed. A little extra veg time should allow me to cover the screen with less plants. maybe I'll have to step up to 5 gallon bags with less plants. I'm still getting a handle on the best setup for the size I have to play in.

Thanks Horse, a full screen is a great way to start.

heheh yeah winter has a way of slowing things down quite a bit. Indoor is all I can do, my neighbors aren't what you might call free thinkers.

I'll pop over for a look. take care.

On Dec 1st I moved 6 plants under the screen after transplanting from 6" pots to 3 1/2 gallon woven poly bags.

These plants are from seed, popped Oct 3rd, then held in low growth mode under flourescent fixtures until they showed sex. Three Mangos and one White Widow from BC Seed King, Cheese from Dinafem and Pure Afghan from DNA Genetics. The Afghan has yet to show sex but it's very bushy and probably female. I guess I'll know soon enough.

Clockwise from left front: Afghani, Cheese, White Widow and three Mangos on the right.
