Mmmmick 288W LED Development SCROG White Widow

Thanks sisco. They seem to like it so far. :thumb:

I don't usually kill all the leaves until they're well into bud. LOL

RIP 2 strips of leds in my original light. Shipping damage was repaired but it failed again. I've been using it for mums. Time to break out the UFO again.

Hi my friend Mmmmick :)
I've been away too long! You've been busy I see! Screen looks great, so do the plants! :bravo:
See you've added a few new flavors this time. Variety is good. :grinjoint:

Since I got back on line, I no longer receive any automatic email notifications of my subscribed journals. In fact all my subscribed journals have all disappeared.
420 is working on it. It's hunt down where I want to go. That's why I haven't visited much. Sorry! :smokin:

Bummer about the light!

That really sucks! Are they going to fix it again, or will they replace?

That is a great question. As the quality of LED lighting improves, I think a defining factor in which vendors or lighting systems will stand out, is going to come down to not only grow performance, but warranty & replacement policies.

We pay a premium for our LEDs, good repair & replacement policies are a fair insurance policy for us to have.

Hi OMM, thank you my friend. This set of plants actually gets some veg time under the screen.

re flavors: I'm planning to continue with afghani strains until I find the right one. The Cheese was a freebie fem. I had another order in that contained 14 different strains but the online billing screwed up and the phone number is constantly busy so I cancelled. Some of the freebies weren't really my first picks anyway and there'll probably be a good offer for Christmas.

I hope your notifier gets sorted out soon. I stopped using email for most of my subscription notifications due to excess traffic in my mailbox. I go to the user control panel where any journals that have been updated are listed in bold type. I only allow email notifiers for my own journals now.

Hope your having a great day.:welcome:

Or it may just come down to reliability. Even next-day air shipping on a replacement fixture isn't as good as a light that doesn't fail in the first place.

I think LEDs just need another 5-10 years of R&D before they can compete with the reliable old light bulb.

They replaced it when the original shipping damage occurred, then I bought parts to repair it because I was allowed to keep it.(insurance writeoff) Something new has failed but I was only using it for a couple of mothers and I don't want to spend on more parts.

This shouldn't be taken as a sign of poor quality as this light was beat up badly when shipped the first time and it's possible my repair wasn't 100%. I'll take it apart to investigate when I get time.

There have been some real junk designs sold by companies that had no intention of staying in business long enough to be required to deal with warranty issues.
But again,I wish to stress that this unit was badly damaged when received and a failure isn't necessarily indicative of the quality of the unit. I've had no problems whatsoever with the replacement unit. Can't blame the supplier for clumsy shippers.

I strongly agree with your post JG. But I don't really think there's a need for more R&D as far as reliability is concerned, rather a need for better quality parts in the original design. I mean the offending parts are usually just power supplies and there's no shortage of power supplies that are engineered to last.

Love that picture, all those little ladies just waiting to pop through that screen. You must be a busy guy, not sure how you do it but fun to watch...

Hi sonzor, welcome. Good to see you again.

Thanks. Two screens does get hectic when they've both got stretch going on but they are staggered a bit so it's not too busy right now. Retirement helps with the workload. heheh

I'm pleased that you enjoy the show. I'm hoping this will be the best yet but still lots to learn, so we'll see how it goes.:welcome:

Oh yes, sorry! :scratchinghead:
To reiterate, it was not my intention to imply the light, its damage, nor its vendor was faulty or to blame, just that spotting reputable LEDs & vendors is becoming an easier process as they tend to really back-up what they sell. It's good to know beforehand, warranty conditions, replacement policies, etc.

I think LEDs (quality ones) already compete with the glass bulb, and quite well. It's a matter of the price point coming a little more into check and you will see them more in the main stream.

Endive, thanks for the clarification. I didn't take it as a dump on my particular light, just wanted to make sure readers understood where the problems originated with this particular unit.
My supplier has stated that he won't try to compete with the less expensive suppliers because he wants to sell lights, not repair them.

He views leds as an alternative to hid's, not a replacement. Pricing should come down as volume increases.

High Mick... good to see some nice young ladies finally get their shot at the big screen... I know you'll be a good producer :)

Nice strains, this should be good!

:2pop:

:peace:

High Horse. thank you. I knew I shouldn't have sold that old casting couch.

I'm hoping the Afghan turns out female, it hasn't shown yet. Regular seeds only or I'd have bought the fems.

I had to cancel my latest seed order. Had 14 strains in total from pick and mix/Attitude, counting freebies and extras. Of course the online secure payment thingie screwed up and their phone line is constantly busy so i had to cancel. I wasn't entirely thrilled with the freebies anyway but there were 5 Dutch passion strains that I was interested in.
Maybe they'll do a decent Christmas deal.
