Melville's Doug's Varin Winter Grow

Good morning Mel :)

Your plant sure is shaping up to be a pretty one :)
Thanks! I'm actually pretty happy with how she's shaping up! If her flowering period is quick enough I'll try a pant outdoors, see what I can do without stunting her!

I do a bit of supercropping daily on my DV to try to get it as wide a possible before flipping. This plant takes to supercropping like a champ!
When it comes to CBD, I have tried vaping high CBD bud. One was only identified as DM2 at THC 5% CBD 8% (I think this one was a CBD Durga Mata), and a "Balanced" strain at 8% THC and 12% CBD. DM2 did nothing at all. "Balanced" literally smelled like dog shit, and made an attack worse.
I haven't seen a "blended" variety with any stability in the ratios, so who knows what you were getting when you smoked it. That's the reason I went with a CBD-only variety (Candida) that was highly stabilized before being put out to the market. Smoking that one seems to have the desired anti-anxiety effect.

Well, these were bud from LPs, so I'm pretty sure they were as listed on the packaging. They were from two companies that have a clean record with Health Canada for their product matching the percentages listed on the pack.
I was thinking about getting some seeds for a strain listed as 5:3 THC:CBD, and having an average of 15% THC, so I bought some high CBD bud to find out if it would help me or not. It's looking like "not" for me.

I haven't tried supercropping yet. At least not deliberately. The rain last summer bent a bunch of branches on the outdoor plants to horizontal, and they never stood back up.
I'm still deciding if I'll do one bigger plant in the tent next winter, or if I'll do two smaller ones. I'll have more time next year, as I won't be growing an auto in there first. The Blackberry I had in there was to fulfill a promise made before I bought the DV seeds.

Thanks, I'll do some investigation on any oil before I use it. I already use coconut oil to make edibles, and some olive oil, but I think olive oil would be a better substitute for the vg than coconut, since it isn't solid at room temp.

i still think olive oil infuses the best. everyone tells me they get way more effect off the vg when comparing the two when taken sublingual. i think some folk just drink the shit though, and it'll whack ya way more than the oil if you do

i've dosed myself on purpose with both just to see lol ... :p

in my opinion the type of fat in the olive oil is a better carrier. i'm sure if there was a measured study it would confirm it. you can't beat the vg for fun. i do both cbd and thc versions. i used to cold infuse vg but this method blows it right out of the water. the ladies love it too ... :cheesygrinsmiley:

I'm not sure how ceramics or glass react to the pressure.

you can use the glass jars to infuse smaller amounts as the others mentioned. don't cap them if you do, leave them loose or use aluminum foil on top. if you cap them tight they will explode.

right now my base recipe is 8g of dried ground bud to every 250ml of carrier oil or vg with a double cook in the instant pot. iv'e found this very effective for anything you want to infuse for any reason.

most of my infusions work out to something like 85% efficacy. except straight butter. i do a 50 / 50 butter coco mix for edibles now. it's super delicious for brownies etc.

really works well for anything with chocolate. if you really want the fun side you try making happy mushroom chocolates using the butter/coco to make the chocolate. just grind the mushrooms and watch hersheys go all freaky jealous..

So, you gonna post it, or what? :meatballs:
Lol, not to the site I found it on, don't want to be spanked.
They make even smaller ones. I have some that I think are 4oz, and 8oz.
I can fit at least two into the IP, probably 4. So that shouldn't be a problem.

don't even start with that gov't shit. iv'e got a couple jars of it still i had to buy as requirement for my license. it's garbage. there is nothing like the real thing. your own weed will blow it all away.

good clean weed grown correct is the only way to go. healthy healthy. only you can do that. try a store tomato against any garden tomato to get an idea.

I can confirm that the vg works better for me in the afternoon than the evening. I took some 30 mins ago and now I can barely type. It's taking an effort to make sure I'm making sense right now.

I was already thinking that aluminum foil would be better to use than the lids. I'll try olive oil, just to find out how well it works, stick to a small amount, and if I don't like it I can use the remainder for edibles. Can you believe the first edibles I ever made were just straight up decarbed bud stirred into melted chocolate, then poured into those tiny cupcake moulds? Made little chocolates that had a weed taste, but looked like they should be in a box, lol.
Mushrooms. Haven't had those since high school.

i find both to be mood regulating. i've seen folk get off their face smoking a heavy cbd only strain. i've smoked cigar sized joint of the stuff and and kinda thought it was ok. it kinda reminded me a lot of weed. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Yep. Grow my own rec weed, and I've been growing my own hot peppers and tomatoes for, wow, more than 15 years now. Way better than anything I can get in the store.
The only thing the Gov't stuff is good for is giving you an indication if the strain is anything you want to grow yourself, and for the accuracy of the potency listed.

it's not even an indication really. it just gets treated so bad from harvest forward. the best thing i found about gov't weed was the plastic jar containers. best pill jars ever. i'll never toss them.

i still have a jar full of gov't weed in the fridge that has to be ten yrs old. i can't bring myself to use the garbage, yet i can't bring myself to toss it and use the jar which is why i kept it.

Make hash!

There's a LP here in Ontario that puts humipacks in with their bud so it isn't as over dried as most, and I kept those to use in my own jars. The thing about the weed from the OCS is it isn't as bad as it was right after legalization, and a couple of the LPs actually hired a grower or two. There's a lot of dreck, but there's the occasional hidden gem in there. If you find a company that actually has a clue what they're doing you can get a good idea if the strain is worth growing yourself, especially if you use a dry herb vape instead of smoking.
I found a company selling Ghost Train Haze that tastes like sweet limes with a hint of salty sour cream in a vape, but is so dry that it would taste like shit smoked.

please stop insulting hash.

only good thing i've heard about one yet.

not a stunning endorsement by any stretch

don't bother spending the money and time looking for hidden gems when you can grow diamonds cheaper

not if you take phenos in to account. they can do 180 degree twists if you have a hybrid.

anticipation can be fun. also a reason to grow. i dunno why you'd bother otherwise, you're doing great.

Yeah. The real problem is when you try the seeds they sell at the OCS, you realize that the genetics aren't the problem, it's just that they suck at growing.

No, but true nonetheless.

That's one of the reasons I grow, aside from the fact that I enjoy it.
I'm not buying much from them, and I'm not wasting money on the massively overpriced stuff. It helps to find people you trust who cant grow their own and are willing to tell you what they think of a particular producer's product first.

Yeah, but seeds can do that too. And with my limited plant count I'm not usually growing multiple of a strain in a year. I do have to grow at least 3 plants from a set of seeds before I start to get an idea what the strain should be like if I haven't tried it before.

Thank you!
There is another reason to buy though. The year my outdoor plants were stolen was a bit of a lean one weed wise, and it took a while for any indoor plants to grow enough to replace them.

How were those chocolates. Sounds interesting to me! :Rasta:

Not bad. There's enough fat in chocolate to aid in the absorption of the THC, but it's kinda gritty. If I were going to make some more I would use infused coconut oil and mix it with the melted chocolate. Probably a lot better that way. :laughtwo:
