Right, thanks for reminding me.Anything "Dropper" to report?
Love her leaf shape. Beautiful little ladySo, I'll be training her this evening before lights on. See if I can expose those nodes along the main 4 stems that are shaded without cutting any leaves off. Tuck some if possible. I'll post some pics both before and after. Any advice is welcome.
I'm also going to have to work on the carhook shoots, as they are getting a bit too tall. A couple of them are now a bit taller than the lower two main shoots. If I need to I'll wait a bit and when I flip I'll tie them down using the pot elevators instead of weights.
I do most of mine in olive oil, but I don't heat it so it's mostly the acidic versions of the cannabinoids for me.Right, thanks for reminding me.
The drops work, but I'm kind of having trouble using them. When I put them under my tongue I start salivating. A lot.
I tried putting them in my cheek instead, as I did some reading and it also works there (called buccal administration if you're interested). It still causes salivation as some of it makes its way to my tongue. I think it's because of the sweet flavour. I'm looking up ways to use it more effectively. I might have to try out olive oil to see if it works without the salivation.
It does have an effect pretty quickly, and lasts for longer than vaping (at least for me). For the Doug's Varin it should be a good method of quick dosing. Vaping requires a temp of 220C to release the THCV, and that's the temp where benzene forms (not its boiling point, that's lower).
All in all, it's a good experiment, and it works. I might just need to keep taking them to find out if I can adapt
Thanks! I'm hoping the clone survives. Same leaves, just more leaflets!Love her leaf shape. Beautiful little lady
I'm not sure non-decarbed THCV would have the effects I'm looking for. If I use the instant pot it'll decarb in the oil preserving terpenes with lower boiling points, but I usually use a magical butter machine for oils.I do most of mine in olive oil, but I don't heat it so it's mostly the acidic versions of the cannabinoids.
Lots of other oils work as well, like grape seed, almond, etc. They all have different smoking points and some are short, medium and long chained fatty acids.
Olive is supposed to be one of the best though.

Yes, he made a tincture with VG (vegetable glycerin) from @bluter 's recipe.Remind me what "Dropper" means? Did you make a tincture?
It's interesting to me that you found it increased your saliva. I suffer from dry mouth due to the medications I take (not just cannabis) so anything that increases saliva sounds interesting to me.
Using an instant pot to infuse vegetable glycerin with cannabis. Sweet Sue has a thread about using it to infuse oil, and Bluter adapted it to vegetable glycerin. Azi linked it a few pages back.Remind me what "Dropper" means? Did you make a tincture?

Replied as I was typing, lol.Yes, he made a tincture with VG (vegetable glycerin) from @bluter 's recipe.
I'll test both olive oil and grape seed oil. Maybe I'll test peanut and canola oils too. It'll take a long time though. I have 4 eyedropper bottles of infused vg left after giving one to my sister to test out.hilarious about the salivating. it's like putting candy under your tongue, but a way better candy lol.
one factor to consider is absorption. vg enters the bloodstream faster than an oil. whether it travels sublingual or through the stomach. the glycerin in vg is absorbed very quickly and the cannabinoids travel on that. also there is a tiny amount of latent alcohol which also aids in faster delivery.
oils depend on their molecule size - viscosity - for absorption. the more viscous - thicker - the oil, the longer it will take to absorb. this is not an issue when taken orally, and delivered through the stomach. it does hinder it for sublingual application though.
i use grape seed oil for my topicals as it is very thin and absorbs in to the skin rapidly. olive oil would take forever and feel like an oil slick until it did. i use coconut oil for my thc and cbd pills, again it absorbs in to the blood stream faster than olive oil.
i do not have an issue with olive oil. it has the highest percentage of healthy natural fat of any of the ingestable oils. thc in particular and other cannabinoids attach to fat cells for excellent delivery.

Another factor I forgot to mention is time of day. The first dose I took, which had the strongest effect, was in the late afternoon. The late evening/night doses seemed weaker, but that's when I would usually take an edible to help me sleep, so I'm accustomed to a much stronger high. I'll try another dose this afternoon. See how that affects me.
This is a really fun experiment.

Thanks, I'll do some investigation on any oil before I use it. I already use coconut oil to make edibles, and some olive oil, but I think olive oil would be a better substitute for the vg than coconut, since it isn't solid at room temp.all will work to a degree. olive and coconut oil are lab proven to be good carriers. others can lag far behind. some oils are actually negligible on return.
Yeah that's an idea. I do have 7 empty dropper bottles, I could make half scale batches, 125ml of oil to 10-12 g of cannabis. If I used something smaller than a metal bowl in there I could maybe do two, or even 4 kinds of oil at once. I did get the 6 quart model of instant pot. I can look up metal cups, I'm not sure how ceramics or glass react to the pressure.Or, scale down the recipe, try 'em all in a small quantity, and then scale up the one you like best.
Small canning jars work great. Like jelly jars. Thanks, I'll do some investigation on any oil before I use it. I already use coconut oil to make edibles, and some olive oil, but I think olive oil would be a better substitute for the vg than coconut, since it isn't solid at room temp.

Lol, I do have metal shot glasses around. They came with a flask my sister bought me for Christmas one year.
I have a bunch of half litre mason jars. I use them for curing and storing bud. I think they're also referred to as jelly/canning jars. I'm just concerned about the glass. I don't know how it reacts to being put in a pressure cooker. This is the first pressure cooker I've ever used. I'll go read up on it.Small canning jars work great. Like jelly jars.
You could probably fit a half dozen in at a time.

Thanks, that's reassuring.Sue always used glass jelly jars in her InstaPot.
