Mel's ViparSpectra XS 2000 Sponsored Grow - Blueberry & Northern Lights

My timer only has 2 slots to plug it in and my light has 3 .I’m wondering if you use an adapter + do you know if it’s safe? CL🍀

no. do not use. get a 3-prong timer. the third prong is the ground.

only low watt stuff should be plugged into a two-prong. the three prongs are live / common / ground. low draw stuff can use an internal ground, and only needs two prongs, live / common, like your clock radio. anything more needs three and grounds back to circuit box. like your vacuum.

or nearly any decent grow gear.

edit : sorry mel. drooly plants. really well balanced. just a touched tipped and green.

Yeah that’s what I thought, thanks. CL🍀

I've got a fireplace style portable heater and one of those parabolic shaped ones, both around 1000w, both with two-prong bladed plugs.

that's pushing it a bit. they will be grounded internal. space heaters in particular often go flames if a wire busts.

edit : ok then. your microwave. three prong for sure. don't zap your plants.

I'm no electrician but I bet if you ask @Bill284 if it's safe, he'll give you the right answer
Personally I think a three prog timer with a proper ground would be the safest thing to use.
For a $20.00 timer I would not risk it.:Namaste:
I even put an extra ground plate in the greenhouse to be cautious.
Better to be safe. IMO.

I've run out of bamboo skewers, lol!
I'm going to have to bring in some of the hooks I made this summer.
I'm getting Blueberry spread out and pulling some of her taller inner shoots out to open spaces on the periphery of the canopy.
I'll try to remember to put up a pic with the wine bottle in there for scale tomorrow.

Thanks bluter!
And thanks for the advice on the electrical equipment!
The plants have grown accustomed to the flip! Also, nice to have a neighbor to share plants with. :)

Thanks Shed!
It is, except he can't grow inside right now as his daughter has moved back home after splitting up with her partner. His granddaughter is the kind of kid who might eat parts of the plants!
Yeah that’s what I thought, thanks. CL🍀

Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention guys!
I still don't trust the timers though!

I have been attached to that Blueberry since it was a baby. I am loving watching it blossom. They are both lovely, but I have a favourite.

I’d say your plants are about as happy as can be even without a timer. Beautiful stuff Mel!

At one time I kept a light timer on for my plants in bloom but also had to set an alarm to seal up or open up the closet space from the veg room that ran lights 24/7. :laughtwo:

Got sidetracked repeatedly today, and never went out to get the carhooks from the yard. I'll get them tomorrow and put them on right before taking pics tomorrow.
Otherwise there really isn't anything to report.

I really like having all plants in the same stage of growth! I don't think a perpetual grow is in my future lol!

Have a great evening everyone!

Got the hooks in. I'll likely be doing it again in a couple of days for some of the inner shoots.
Other than that, they were all fed today.

Turning out to be a rather low stress grow after the rough start! You and GDB are neck in neck for lovely and boring. :cheesygrinsmiley:
Good place to be!

I'm planning on moving a heating mat or two into the tent. For some reason the lights off temps have started to dip. It's getting down to 18C now, and that's as low as I want to let it get.
I've also started some lemon seeds. One of them has just popped up out of the soil. No pics of that, I just felt like telling you guys.

Congrats on the baby lemon. I love hearing about these things.

They both look great but Zkittlez is really moving right along!

Great idea. 18º is really the bottom of the temp scale if you can do it.

Oh sweet! All my lemon seeds start themselves inside the lemons so those are the only ones I bother planting. Can you plant lemons outside that far north or do you have to bring them in for the winter?
