Mel's ViparSpectra XS 2000 Sponsored Grow - Blueberry & Northern Lights

Congrats on the baby lemon. I love hearing about these things.
Thanks Carmen!
It's not fully up yet (at least it wasn't last night, I should probably check right now) but I'm happy to get one to sprout!
They both look great but Zkittlez is really moving right along!

Great idea. 18º is really the bottom of the temp scale if you can do it.

Oh sweet! All my lemon seeds start themselves inside the lemons so those are the only ones I bother planting. Can you plant lemons outside that far north or do you have to bring them in for the winter?
Thanks Shed!
It'll have to be brought in for the winter. It's supposed to be a Mayer lemon, so it shouldn't get too big.
Fun fact, we're not much further North here than the border between California and Oregon.
In fact we're level with Southern France.

If we ever have a trivia night, I shotgun el Beardo.

Welp, Zkittlez is getting some blotches on her leaves.
Looks like P to me. Hopefully this just means I was a little late with her feeding, but I'll be keeping an eye on it. If it continues I'll try raising the MC dosage. I'll also look into getting something that has P without additional K as this seems to be a recurring problem.
Of course the issue may be resolved anyway as I'm right near the bottom of this bag of soil.

That actually sounds like fun!
If only latitude was all that mattered! :)
If only!

Blueberry is just starting to show stigmas, so that puts her a few weeks behind Zkittlez.
I've mixed flowering strength MC+mag nitrate for them both which they will be receiving tomorrow (probably).
I included a wine bottle for scale tonight.

Bought the soil for this summer. I went with the promix organic moisture control blend recommended by my buddy.
I'm going to mix it 50/50 with compost and perlite.

Thank you for adding something for scale.

I often find it difficult to accurately gauge size.

And el Beardo, these are your best yet!
Thanks Tra!
I'll put it in fairly regularly from here on out.

You may have noticed that I haven't mentioned the clones in a while.
That's because the Zkittlez clones are flowering. Under 18/6.
I wanted to see if they would reveg. They haven't.
So, I am going to leave them under 18/6. I'll compare the buds, assuming they continue to flower, to those of their mother. Just to give us all a better idea of the difference the photoperiod makes with autos. It's not a fair comparison, as the clones are only in 710mL of soil, but I think that's the best thing to do here.
The seed was a freebie, so I have no complaints.

Not much to do with the plants today. That's a good thing as I've been cleaning up after that ice storm. I'll be keeping some of the Blueberry for days like today.
I did get some non-cannabis seeds planted for this summer's garden though.

Good day so far, so there's not much to say.
I've started to lower the light a little bit at a time to make sure they're getting all the light they can use, but I might go back up a bit and turn up the intensity instead.
Maintain the wider footprint.

Looking lovely Mel, 👍👍
Thanks sjb!
Im all about those low wide feels, and curious to see the girls do with the mains to the corner.

The flowering girls everywhere right now, love the fuzzy tops.

Great work Mel.

Hows the XS2000 strike you now youve had a bit of time with it?
Thanks DV8!
I'm thinking about those corners too. Raising the light and upping the intensity should make sure they get enough light to finish well.
I'm really liking this light. It doesn't get too hot, and even at 50% it puts out enough light to keep the internodes nice and tight during veg, with the light 60cm from the canopy.
I'm impressed so far.
That Blueberry!

Oh my dayzzzzzzz.

You’ll find a thrill on that Blueberry hill fo sho.

🫐🤍🫐🤍🫐🤍
Thanks Tra!
I can't wait for the smell to kick in!

I'm sure there's a logical explanation for this, but why are the plants pushed to the sides of the tent with an 8-10" gap of prime light real estate in the middle? A full third of each plant is beyond the edge of the light where fall-of begins.

I remember the clones were there in veg when light intensity was less important, but now it's just a well-lit hygrometer!

There's a significant hotspot there when you look at the ppfd chart. The clones were quite a bit shorter than these two, so it wasn't a problem for them, but they also had excellent node spacing, showing that the intensity there is quite high. I'm trying to maintain the best ppfd levels over the bulk of the plants.
Of course I'm judging that by growth instead of measurements.
It's probably time to download the Photone app.

They are looking good Mel. My old hps light had a couple of hotspots and it took me a few grows to figure it out. No meter then. I tried to overcome it by keeping the spots clear or by lst ing the branches in the spots, with limited success.

I will be starting my first seeds of the year in a couple of weeks. Two runs this season, with two strains each time. 1st up, Acapulco Gold and Fuel D.OG. 2nd run, Blueberry and Golden Tiger.

My Blueberry's are by Seedsman and I haven't got a good handle on what to expect on stretch and how big to grow them before flip. I've read a lot and most journals I've read don't speak of much stretch. What do you think? I will be growing hydroponically.

Tag me in or drop us a link when you start them!
From what I've seen their Blueberry doesn't stretch much, but also has a little more sativa in it than most. I think whoever bred it for them used one of the sativa Blueberry plants bred by DJ Short's son JD somewhere in the process.
I'm thinking you might have some trouble getting an even canopy in flower growing it with a pure sativa like GT. I haven't really paid attention to how much the GT stretches though.

Thanks for the insight.
Each strain will have it's own tray and screen. I have two rooms, so I'll grow two strains and when they're done, I'll run the next two strains. The Golden Tiger should be a beast. I'll flip the lights between 14 and 21 days from sprout. I will pretty much always run the long flowering Sativas on the 2nd run so I can calmly let them go until they are ready without worrying about the next crop since nothing will go into the tray until the next spring.
