Mel's ViparSpectra XS 2000 Sponsored Grow - Blueberry & Northern Lights

I may have missed it, but why no timer on your lights. My absent minded arse would never remember to turn them on and off.
I don't trust them. Every timer I've ever used stopped working within about a month of use.
Some wouldn't turn the lights on, and others wouldn't turn them off.
My favourite one was entirely random and couldn't keep track of the time. Luckily that was before I started growing weed. The peppers and tomatoes didn't mind.
Lights go off when I get up, so that's easy to remember, and there's an alarm on my phone to remind me to turn the lights on for the plant in flower. I meant to set one for lights on for the veg girls, but I never got around to it.
Won't make that mistake again.

I've had failures over the course of 10 years, but surprisingly few. I've had best luck with simple mechanical timers. I keep spares on hand, so I'm pretty quick on the fix.

One thing I learned with the mechanical ones is:
If you are spinning the wheel to set the time, put it in "on" mode as opposed to " timer" mode. The little mechanism canbe damaged from forced hand spinning of the wheel while in "timer" mode. You can guess how I know

My dad has one that's older than I am, and it's still working to turn the outside lights on the garage on and off, but it was made in Canada back when you could expect what you bought to last a decent amount of time.
We've had to reset it after power outages, but that's it.
They just haven't worked for me.
It's not really a bad thing though. It means I don't have any excuse for not checking on the plants at least twice a day.

Omg me too!

When I first started growing here I decided I didn’t need a timer for flower. I would set an alarm twice a day. So I set a really shrill alarm on my phone twice daily. 6am and 6pm 🚨 ⏰ ‼️

Every single day without fail that alarm scared the fuck out of me. I mean jumped out of my skin, unexpected. Like a 👻BOO!👻 from behind a door… even tho it was totes expected.

I bought a timer mainly to settle my nerves.

Here they are on the first day after flip.
They both seem happy so far. I'm getting ready to make another few carhooks in case I need to take action to keep the canopy level.

Works for me! I have it set to vibrate though.

I'm sure they do but the clones go elsewhere when you remember to turn the lights off, yes?
Lol, yes. In this case into a grow rack under some t5s. There's still some room in there as we haven't started all the outdoor seeds yet.

I think the bigger question here is can I respond to your statement without lewd and inappropriate connotations. And the answer is no. And a firm no.

But back on topic. If I had something vibrating in my pocket twice a day, my lights would never go on/off.

Just watered everyone.

Looking good Mel, all set for the stretch. Cant wait to see them go into bloom.
Thanks DV8!
I'll be starting to post pics of the Zkittlez buds soon, she's already setting budsites!
Blueberry is starting her stretch, so it'll be a while before there's anything to show there.

Oh I had a few connotations of a questionable nature in my head when I typed it!😂

Good morning el Beardo :)

Look at you bringing out your inner naughty!

And your grow looks beautiful :)

Blueberry has definitely started the stretch. She's as tall as Zkittlez now, although she doesn't have quite as many growth tips.
I'm liking what I'm seeing right now.

Not saying what's passing through my mind was a hard lesson to learn!

My timer only has 2 slots to plug it in and my light has 3 .I’m wondering if you use an adapter + do you know if it’s safe? CL🍀

Still no sign of stigmas on Blueberry, but Zkittlez is now setting budsites further down her stems.
I'm going to have to get my neighbour to take the clones soon, or I may have to take clones from them, and dump the bottoms. That would really be a shame because they've developed enough to need to be transplanted soon.
If I do end up freeing up the 60x60cm tent in the next few days I'll see if he has any 1 gallon pots and soil.

I'm no electrician but I bet if you ask @Bill284 if it's safe, he'll give you the right answer
