Medical Grow

Eh.... just finished reading this one again from start to end this time. My apologies Doc i didn't realize i had already sub'd to it. I've read all your journals. From reading so much i tend to forget what journals or posts i have commented on. But you, SS and a couple of others, i tend to mentally and physically bookmark and always come back to. SS's cfls & Ur take on hempy's & oc+ have ignited a fire under the old keister to start my own grow love project sooner than i thought i would. I've scaled down my initial space( from dresser grow to PC case grow). Just to get a complete grow under my belt.( I've reached flowering stage only 1 once in high school b4 i was snitched out by a sibling who now regrets ever telling my Mom!:) Also starting with bag seed as i won't buy great genetics only to them. Why a PC grow case? I like the idea if having such a small "environment" as i can set it right on my desk and watch her live and I tinker as need be.

Sorry for the long rant. Thanks again for the wealth of knowledge, the scientific approach u take to the love and the art of growing yet, keeping it simple and concise for such a laymen such as myself. Last but not least thanks for the unselfishness u display when sharing/giving away said information. Big Ups!!!

I know there are more here that agree, Some of you should put a "stonerproof" book/pamphlet together on hempy's and cfls ....eh nevermind. I'll just condense what I've read on this wonderful site into my own little pdf.file book. Big Ups!!!;)

So Doc, are you using digital ballasts in the new grow room to drive those Lumatek bulbs?

yep. Digital all the way. The curling seems a bit better....definitely not worse. The plant is growing like crazy....so no worries.

Welcome!

Here's my long awaited pamphlet on stoner-proof grow methods:

Intro:

How to grow weed and get it right the first time

ch 1:

Get a damn bucket....drill a hole 2 inches up from the bottom. Fill it with perlite.

Ch. 2:

Get some lights....a bunch of CFL's a T5, a 400 watt cmh....sun coming through a window.....just get some damn light.

Ch 3:

Put some OC+ or Dynamite in the damn bucket....the one with the perlite in it.

Ch4: Add some friggin' water....pH around 6. Total alkalinity around 60-80. You may want to get a cheap pool test kit for the TA test. Easy to do. Mix tap water with RO in order to arrive at proper pH and TA.

Ch. 5: Add a cannabis plant. Water until lots of water "pisses" out the damn hole. Do this every couple days....you can't over water.

Ch. 6: have the lights on 12 hours, off 12 hours. Keep 'em like this till they look done.

Ch. 7: cut the buds off, cut the leaves off the buds, let them dry slowly.....enjoy!

It's that simple, bro.

Look what I just saw in velodrone's "Velo's New Lair!" thread.

Problem look familiar?

Yes, that looks VERY familiar!
What do you suppose it is?
I'm not worried about it...the plant is doing very well...but it is curious.

Hi Docbud, @ 82 degrees F I'd be curious to see if you allowed the humidity to go up to around 70% when the lights are on, if those leaves would uncurl.

I know what you're referring to...that chart you posted a while back....the sweet spot at those temps is with about 70% humidity.

I'll give it a try! I've never had this happen before....but the plant is obviously growing well. It's my largest plant.

I'll give it a go.

Strain may prefer a high RH% during veg. If you can, give it a go. You know, :geek: for science!

you've got several different media going in this grow, which should provide some great info. I'm particularly interested in the "Flower Power" layered soil plants. That's as easy as using a CRF, and may provide a final product with better aroma and flavor.

any "just add water" method that can grow nice plants gets my attention ;)

Doc,

Sincerely wish I could help w. the JH. Especially since I've almost finished some!

Things are looking clear to partly cloudy.

VERY HIGH likelihood of LUMBERJACKs in the coming front.

They will be dressed for the snowstorm!

Hope those girls didn't get that way watching the bm show! ;)

Did I tell you? You're my freakin' HERO! :goodjob:

me too bro! My whole garden is "just add water......" but I'll also be adding molasses from time to time, as well as Snowstorm and a bloom supplement based on Alfalfa and Kelp.

I'll probably also use a compost tea once or twice.....keep the organic power happening.

thanks bro!
I can tell you were doing some quality testing on that post.....I know exactly how you feel! And thanks for the compliment!

Doc,
Looking great. Peace, bro.

Thanks for stopping by!

Update:
Like I said, I'm not taking pictures all the time. I'll get some new ones this coming week, perhaps.

We've got bud sites all over the place. I may have too many plants...we'll see. If that's the case, I can probably give a few to my friend and let him grow them out....we'll see.

There is an interesting phenomenon in my room. I've got 4 strains, 15 total plants in FFOF, amended with my pre-plant mix, charged with OC+. These are in plastic, square pots, 7x7, 9x9 and one 10x10.

These plants all have dark green, waxy leaves, have bud sites all over the place and are growing big and fast. I actually topped 2 of the OG's, because they would have been too large.

Then, I've got another 15 in 3 gallon airpots, with Power Flower in the bottom half and a Coco/peat soil in the top half.

These plants are lighter green and the leaves have a felt-like appearance. They are super healthy, but are not growing as furiously as the OC+ plants. The leaves aren't as waxy, and there are minimal signs of a Ca deficiency in some of the lower fan leaves. Nothing to worry about....I gave 'em a shot of well water, should solve the problem.

I am really looking forward to seeing how flowering commences in both groups. Both mediums are "just add water." But the plants are behaving differently.

Damn interesting, if you ask me.

Temps, RH etc......all exactly where I want them.

how much faster would you say the air pots dry out over your other pots? i am keeping a eye these air pots ive always wanted to see them grow aside a reg pot.

It's tough to tell, because the airpots are 3 gallons and aren't as tall as the plastic pots, which are also smaller.

I do like the airpots, however. The roots seem pretty happy and they aerate well.

I'll probably use the air pots if I like the organic soil mix better than the OC+.....but I can tell you right now, it's going to have to really "wow" me with taste/potency in order for me to continue it. The OC+ are definitely growing larger/faster....but they are also different strains, so the comparison isn't really apples/apples.

One thing for sure....I'm never going to mix up a bunch of nutes that cost so damn much money. I'm an "add water" guy all the way, baby.
