Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

All (3) Cree128 lights kept turning off by themselves every 15 or 20 minutes yesterday. I would turn them back on and they would go off again in about 15 minutes. Driving me crazy. Lol. I finally figured out the problem. Can anyone guess what was causing them to shut off? :) Not the programmer.

One could get annoyed with that !! :volcano-smiley:

So I got curious and found the box from the last hps bulb we bought and it has the spectrum output on the box , well I took a pic for you to look at , no wonder LEDs and MarsHydro kick ass so well over hps. It's missing all the important spectrums for growth and flowering, I can say with confidence that we will never go hps again.

Had the remote in your pocket and Butt dialed the lights?

TV remote interference? (Butt-dialling was my first choice; I was beaten to it..)

:geek:I bet its like when dogs bite. most of the time its not the dog its somehow the owner who is the issue ;)

Using the old style lights with 600w each is about 280w actual watts , so having 4 would be just under 1200w real watts and will definitely cover your area.

Those are my lights in the kitchen. On the left is an Osram LED spot, it has/uses 4.5W. The right is a normal Halogen Spot, it has/uses 45W.

The LED is actually BRIGHTER than the Halogen. Just wanting to make a point that "real watts" (the power they use) doesn't really mean anything. The more LED tech advances, the more can we also expect they get more efficient. I just don't understand why some folks are still looking at wall wattage.
That being said, him with his 4 (FOUR) 600W lights, let's just say..it will be very, very bright :) If you were to ask me, what I told him already he'd likely be more than fine with two of those lights for his area.

Ok answer to why my Cree128 kept turning off. Not my butt remoting, not temp, nor TV remote. Sorta the user. My stereo on the FM station was the problem. Unplugged my Stereo and problem went away. The Remotes must be Radio Frequency Controlled and matching my FM radio would shut off...

Another reason for dip switches. Or if you want to be a little more modern, you can use a 2.4gh transmitter and receiver with frequency skipping like I use for my RC helis and planes. :peace:

Hmmm..interesting. Do the remotes have something like a clear LED somewhere, like a remote for an A/C or a TV?

The Remotes have a open hole at the tip. No covering over hole. Cheap looking. Looking inside of hole I see a small cylinder like a small capacitor.

I still think it's IR remotes, radio would be...unusual.

Maybe your problem with switching is related to bad shielding. I'd give plugging radio into different outlet a shot. Or test whether the same thing happens with the radio running on battery (if that's possible). Or putting the radio/speakers somewhere else and see whether it solves things.

I feel as you If they are IR, ! but he did say thay look cheap maybe it's something goofy like 49mhz LoL

Flexy I will move the Radio to a surge Protection outlet today and try it there.

I have the same remote and it's not IR , can work through walls and the next room , got to be MHz or something , we all tried to tell them that this remote was a bad idea . I've been contemplating buying 1 more pro 320 and the Cree 256 , run all 3 in the same room and do that sunrise I programmed in , but would like it come on with one light first (Cree) in the middle and then the 2 on the sides an hr later , when someone figures out how to program 2 in the same room different, I really want too know :)

By the way , my remote lives in a velvet box in case it may brake and leave my light worthless, lol.

Sounds like a failed experiment that can only get worse from here on out. Go back to veg and bloom switch and adjust the height of your lights, you will be standing right next to them when checking on them.If six of us got together medicated and set out to invent a new mouse trap it would have the same results:)You want a sunset? Smoke a bowl pour a glass of wine and go outdoors:)
