Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

:circle-of-love: winter is coming. I am gaining fat for the winter.:dreamy: Traffic will be a problem. The delivery sometimes will be delayed. My dearest friends, why don't you consider to gain more lights...:)

I've gained enough fat for the both of us lol Will hope to gain more lights than fat for the remainder of the winter ;)

Catfish- it seems like international shippers really take good care of packages! Glad yours were ship shape! I have had some come from China that you would think that I made and folded the box right at my home it's in pristine condition. Then some come from the next city over and they are run through the ringer. Donr understand. I haven't got to plug in my new light yet, long as it all works I will e happy

The old-style ones are excellently packed, with that foam stuff. So even if someone would poke holes in the box he'd be a hard time to damage them I'd think.

On a funny side-note, I should've taken a picture of the box with the 60L cat litter I bought recently from frickin' Poland... It looked like it made a trip to the outer solar system and crashed on Mars before it finally arrived here :)

Do you rinse your raw weed to get rid of any e coli residue from the hi brix? or isthat an issue? I read that compost tea can lead to e coli if not careful n clean up after every batch. What science, if any, happens in the soil medium to prevent e coli ? just asking cuz so much e coli in chorizo etc lately. I want to juice but maybe only steril hydro??

The majority of E coli comes from the unsanitary practice's in animal agriculture, fruit and veggies get it from being sprayed with contaminated water. E coli infection is from coming into contact with the feces, or stool, of humans or animals, it does not originate from plants. Doc's high brix amendments are entirely plant and rock mineral based besides some fish hydrosylate in some.of his products. You can use only the growth energy product to avoid all animal products (veganic) and still get great results.

In my opinion, like all other produce, you should wash your buds at harvest/before drying.

"Budwashing:

Bucket One: 5 gallons H2O 1/2 to 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 to 1 cup lemon juice.
Bucket Two: 5 gallons H2O
Bucket Three: 5 Gallons H2O....as pure as you can get it.

Fully submerge and gently agitate for 30 seconds to a minute in each bucket. As the first bucket begins to turn brown, spend longer time in the second and last bucket.

If you have powdery mildew in your room:

After cutting out and discarding buds with spore formation on them, add a 5 gallon bucket before bucket One that is 1/3 H2O2 3%. Follow the same procedure.

RE Trimming: I've found that pulling off fan leaves and ugly leaves right before washing is best. Let the sugar leaves dry with the buds and then trim them off when dry."

Alright, what are ya thoughts.

Grow area is 4x3 roughly. I was about to pull the trigger on (2) 144*5 reflector series but was looking on eBay and seen the older style 600w 120*5. I can purchase (4) of the 600w 120*5 for the price of the (2) reflector series. Which would be better? I don't care much for the switches for veg/flower since I'll be running them sat full spectrum anyways.

Honest opinions and experience will greatly appreciated.

2 Reflectors = 1,440 theoretical light output
4 600Wers = 2,400 theoretical light output

All have "in principle" the same LEDs, 5W leds, with the only difference that the reflectors have..well..reflectors. But the 4x 600Wers sure will output a lot more light!

You say your area is 4x3 (calculating, 120cm x 90cm), I'd say that 4 600Wers might even be overkill and you might be fine with two? If you THINK you need more you can always get one or two more. That's just my opinion.

My thoughts are the same as far as output. But having more light isn't a bad thing in this case. I plan on expanding anyways. Anyone with the older style happy with their light aside from not having the dual switches?

Cal/Mag, Folks, I'm in week 8 of flower, still have clear trichs. Should I be running cal/mag along with nutes right up to flush? Been using Cal/Mag 1-tsp/gal every nute change since veg because everyone on this thread said to do it.

Some strains need a helping hand to finish try lowering your night temps into the 60's or lower and / or cutting your light to 10 hrs

I use Cal/Mag right up to flush then just water if I need to go farther

I am "happy" with them but then I only use them in a greenhouse for vegging MJ and my Chillies. MJ goes upstairs in the sun for flowering. But there was just a report by someone who uses 2x 300Wers fine for flowering as well. My growing area is approx 3.8ft x 2.5ft (115cm x 75cm) and I feel that the two 300Wers are just right for filling out this spot. If I were flowering w/ the LEDs I would probably move my plants tighter, like 3.2ft x 1.9ft. I have no reason to believe that you would have a problem with 2x 600W lights, that's twice of what I have with just a little more space.
The reflectors and also the Mars II are "relatively un-interesting" to me since all those lights have 5W LEDs, so they're the same there where it counts, the only reason to upgrade (for me) would be if I were at some point wanting much stronger lights, say, 1200W or something. Since I am only vegging in the GH...and the lights are (at times) actually too strong, say for seedlings etc., I don't see a reason to upgrade.
That being said, I would gladly take a free light :) of their new Mars Pro Epistar 160 for testing :) Even if the 60cm for coverage width seem a little on the low side to me. (Then again I THINK one of those lights would be just fine to light out my complete 118cm x 80cm area, also for flowering.)

Thank you very much for that response. I was actually going to do (4) of the 600w. That'll be theoretically 2400w as someone stated before. I'll give it a go and see how it goes. With that much light I'm hoping to cover my 4x3 with no worries. And it's nice to have 4 just in case one does go out I'll still have the coverage I need.

You will have awesome success in your grow with those lights but you better buy glasses it's gonna be bright !!
