Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

U
Thank you very much for that response. I was actually going to do (4) of the 600w. That'll be theoretically 2400w as someone stated before. I'll give it a go and see how it goes. With that much light I'm hoping to cover my 4x3 with no worries. And it's nice to have 4 just in case one does go out I'll still have the coverage I need.

Using the old style lights with 600w each is about 280w actual watts , so having 4 would be just under 1200w real watts and will definitely cover your area.

:circle-of-love: they look so good :hugs:
Almost 6 weeks in

:circle-of-love: yes, I agree with you. Even with the same watt. the design of Reflector ensures bigger coverage compared to our other models. Klovneposen, you really have a good grow with our Reflector series. :high-five:
i don't know if i missed the specs of the guy in questions room or just maybe forgot em while pushing the reply with quote botton :)

But i would say the choice should also depend on growing style and room as well maybe? i see the reflectors as giving better spread so its good for those small srog or lst cabinets with not that much height. i dont know with the old model og mars lights but when comparing my reflector series with others mars 2 footprint. my reflector seems to giving wider spread. if one have a tall tent to grow tall plants i see the old upgraded 5w models or the mars 2 series as an obvious choice while if having a small spaced closet the reflector series seems to be the best choice.

but yeah if the space is for it at it is between two x 300w or just one 240 panel, double is of course better

lol  I wished I could see it. :cheesygrinsmiley:
The old-style ones are excellently packed, with that foam stuff. So even if someone would poke holes in the box he'd be a hard time to damage them I'd think.

On a funny side-note, I should've taken a picture of the box with the 60L cat litter I bought recently from frickin' Poland... It looked like it made a trip to the outer solar system and crashed on Mars before it finally arrived here :)

Haha, gain more lights for more fat buds.:cheesygrinsmiley:
I've gained enough fat for the both of us lol Will hope to gain more lights than fat for the remainder of the winter ;)

:circle-of-love: hi noobie, both of your options will fit your grow area. One 600w will cover 2'x1.5'. 4pcs 600w will cover 4'x3' well. Two pieces Reflector will cover 4'x4' area. Noobie, Reflector is better built than the old mode. However, four pieces old model 600w do give you more flexbibility and better light distribution. :Namaste:
Alright, what are ya thoughts.

Grow area is 4x3 roughly. I was about to pull the trigger on (2) 144*5 reflector series but was looking on eBay and seen the older style 600w 120*5. I can purchase (4) of the 600w 120*5 for the price of the (2) reflector series. Which would be better? I don't care much for the switches for veg/flower since I'll be running them sat full spectrum anyways.

Honest opinions and experience will greatly appreciated.

:thanks: thanks for the help, flexy.
2 Reflectors = 1,440 theoretical light output
4 600Wers = 2,400 theoretical light output

All have "in principle" the same LEDs, 5W leds, with the only difference that the reflectors have..well..reflectors. But the 4x 600Wers sure will output a lot more light!

You say your area is 4x3 (calculating, 120cm x 90cm), I'd say that 4 600Wers might even be overkill and you might be fine with two? If you THINK you need more you can always get one or two more. That's just my opinion.

:circle-of-love: thank you , randy.:hugs:
Some strains need a helping hand to finish try lowering your night temps into the 60's or lower and / or cutting your light to 10 hrs

I use Cal/Mag right up to flush then just water if I need to go farther

:thanks: flexy, thanks so much for your support for our old model and I am happy that you love it and enjoy it, which matters most. :high-five:
I am "happy" with them but then I only use them in a greenhouse for vegging MJ and my Chillies. MJ goes upstairs in the sun for flowering. But there was just a report by someone who uses 2x 300Wers fine for flowering as well. My growing area is approx 3.8ft x 2.5ft (115cm x 75cm) and I feel that the two 300Wers are just right for filling out this spot. If I were flowering w/ the LEDs I would probably move my plants tighter, like 3.2ft x 1.9ft. I have no reason to believe that you would have a problem with 2x 600W lights, that's twice of what I have with just a little more space.
The reflectors and also the Mars II are "relatively un-interesting" to me since all those lights have 5W LEDs, so they're the same there where it counts, the only reason to upgrade (for me) would be if I were at some point wanting much stronger lights, say, 1200W or something. Since I am only vegging in the GH...and the lights are (at times) actually too strong, say for seedlings etc., I don't see a reason to upgrade.
That being said, I would gladly take a free light :) of their new Mars Pro Epistar 160 for testing :) Even if the 60cm for coverage width seem a little on the low side to me. (Then again I THINK one of those lights would be just fine to light out my complete 118cm x 80cm area, also for flowering.)

Hi massive, turn on Veg during veg and turn on both during flower. Flower stage needs more power.:Namaste:
Hello, growing need to turn the 2 buttons growth / bloom?

I just bought the 600watt old model from ebay for about $139.00 it covers my 2.5x2.5 area with no problem it doesn't put off barly any heat I think 4 would cover your spa e great if you go on ebay buy them togather it will be cheaper that way for you they knock like $20-30 off each one if you buy all for at once I think that going all four would be the way to go more light bigger harvest
