Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

:thanks:2pcs300w do draw more power than 1pcs Reflector48. :cheesygrinsmiley: Thanks for the help. :thumb:
Hallo!

TBH, I think the "old style" 60x5W, especially two of them are great, simple and affordable lights. I have the same.
You don't need a veg switch because they don't use THAT much power. One of them uses about 140W. They work great for veg and I guess for flowering too. I would definitely rather get 2 of the 300W lights instead of a small reflector with only 240W. The two 300Wers also give you more flexibility in arranging them in my opinion.

:circle-of-love: new tech and switches are not all. MarsII and Reflector have better quality for drivers, leds and materials.:cheesygrinsmiley: the price of old model is attractive, but there is always reason for it.:ganjamon:
I'm thinking of doing an LED grow soon and Mars Hydro has been my preferred choice but the older models seem to be better, all your paying for is the new tech and a switch for the newer ones. Forgive me if I'm wrong, this solely on internet research, I haven't actually tried one yet. Anybody care to interject?

:circle-of-love: sorry Ricky, right now, the pacakge from CA will have label describing "led light" on it. And we have negotiated with the warehouse. When this problem has solved, I will tell you guys. Before that, it's possible to receive the package with "led light" lable.
Got the new led

:thanks: CatfishKinight, your lights ship from China.
Bummer Ricky. I think my three boxes had no holes in them. I was too anxious to open them.
Now when I go home I will check for holes and see what really was on the Shipping Labels...

:thanks: thank you, Dennise. :Namaste:
I have a bunch of M-H leds and also have 1 of the 300w 60x5 and 2 of the 300w 100x3w... I like the 3w better... Can't really tell you why...I just do... But both of them are great little lights and if that is what you can afford... You can most certainly grow some great bud with them... No doubt I like my reflectors and Mars II's better but they cost more too......:circle-of-love:

wow:welldone:impressive, very good job :MoreNutes:

yes...Hope you don't mind. We need to put company name...:Namaste:
Hi Ricky, wow it was banged up. My 3 boxes from China was in great shape.
The label said it was from : LG - LED Solutions Unlimited.
Which could mean anything made with Led's.

He was stealing my Oxycodone here and there also. So I even had to buy a heavy safe to install in my wife Beauty Shop to keep her money safe and etc. So one of the Nest Cams are in her shop too.

I have no trespassing signs and a reputation. No one even thinks about setting a foot on my property uninvited. Glad my kids are moved away and on their own. Thieving boyfriends don't compost well.

I'll need to make a journal for my cabinet build and first attempt at cannabis. I'm hoping to have a few pots of leafy greens growing in there too to supplement my diet with fresh greens throughout the long cold winters. I received (3) 144x5 reflectors from Sara the other day. Waiting for my high brix kit from Doc Bud to "cook". 25 days till I can start popping seeds :( it'll allow me to fine tune and finish the last few things that need to be built at least. I've got a 3.5'x3.5'x6.5' flower chamber and a 3.5'x2'x6.5' veg side that I'll most like split horizontally making 2 separate veg chambers, bottom one being 4' tall and the top being 2.5' tall.

Here's a pic of it currently:

Do you rinse your raw weed to get rid of any e coli residue from the hi brix? or isthat an issue? I read that compost tea can lead to e coli if not careful n clean up after every batch. What science, if any, happens in the soil medium to prevent e coli ? just asking cuz so much e coli in chorizo etc lately. I want to juice but maybe only steril hydro??

How long do you guys simmer the butter to decarboxylate and convert the THCA to THC? It was getting late last night so I only let it simmer for about 45 minutes after I added the chopped buds to the butter. I figure the buds were almost already dry so the shorter time should be OK. But I might go back and remedy the butter and let it cook for another hour or so.

Grey wolf from skunk pharm says heat and cool two or three times for the right chemistry..just sayin

:circle-of-love: winter is coming. I am gaining fat for the winter.:dreamy: Traffic will be a problem. The delivery sometimes will be delayed. My dearest friends, why don't you consider to gain more lights...:)

What they DRAW on power is really irrelevant, I dont care how many claim this ain't so. It's a totally silly metric "how much they draw" because different lights can be more/less efficient. My 4W LED here in the kitchen is as bright as a 45W Halogen. It's not 10x darker...according to that logic :)

The 48x5 is called so because it has 48 LEDs at 5W each, the 300W "old style" each have 60 LEDs. Alone from that logic it's clear the 60 LEDs are "brighter". While the reflector and the switch are "nice" I'd rather take the light with the more LEDs, especially if he can get TWO of them. (I assume the LEDs itself are the same, 5W Epistar)

Old-style: 140W-150W power usage, 300W theoretical from the LEDs (60x5), although the LEDs are driven at less than 5V
Small reflector: 105W power usage, 48 Leds = 240W. So we're looking at a theoretical 240W vs. 300W "light" output.

>>
The old style 300 are actually 130w. So you are really looking at 260 vs 240
>>

Nope, you're looking at the actual power draw of the old-style (130W) vs the 240W LED ourput of the small reflector. You cannot compare those two things.
Even ONE old-style (in my opinion) is better than one small reflector, let alone if he can get two old-style for cheap/the same price. I really don't think that the added reflector "makes good" for the fact it has less LEDs.

i don't know if i missed the specs of the guy in questions room or just maybe forgot em while pushing the reply with quote botton :)

But i would say the choice should also depend on growing style and room as well maybe? i see the reflectors as giving better spread so its good for those small srog or lst cabinets with not that much height. i dont know with the old model og mars lights but when comparing my reflector series with others mars 2 footprint. my reflector seems to giving wider spread. if one have a tall tent to grow tall plants i see the old upgraded 5w models or the mars 2 series as an obvious choice while if having a small spaced closet the reflector series seems to be the best choice.

but yeah if the space is for it at it is between two x 300w or just one 240 panel, double is of course better

It'll be ok this time. But if you would please let us know when that has been resolved. I'm sure I will order more lights in the future but that would have to be taken care of first. The rest of the issue was UPS poor handling I'm sure. It was the combo of all together that was scary. Thanks for getting on that warehouse right away!
