morning Gnarl
the light will not get burnt up with only bloom on. Don't worry about it.
In fact, Reflector is different from marsII.
As you can notice, the gap between each led on Reflector is wider. Therefore, when only bloom is on, the panel has enough space to dissipate the heat well, no need for fan. The engineer has tested it. :
: Our new MarsII with switches will have fan working when only bloom is on, because of narrower gap between leds. This is how and why set up the switches like that.
As for the widely acknowledged agreement for both switches on during bloom, it has reached a long time ago.
Temp is also an important factor during control. If the built-in fan will help to keep it down, it's better to run the light with both switches on, because the fan will work with veg on.
Plus, full spectrum during flower is also useful.
but no need to worry about it. It will not cause the light to burn with only bloom on.
It's really good advice to tell the new customers about the feature in case they don't know it.
Gnarl, which city you will go?
I agree that a veg selection serves it's purpose. Adding the red spectrum to veg also serves a purpose for flowering. My thought is there is no purpose to having a red only spectrum which runs without fans and could damage the light. Instead of having a bloom only switch that you advise people never to use simply take away that option to avoid confusion or a newbie risking burning up his /her light.
Make the choices veg only and flower (all LEDS on). Just do away with the bloom only switch. Keep it Simple.
I'm planning to visit China after November. Fire up your Wok.
