Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

I have yet to see any light data other than spec's TOPLED, and I'm sure it's just that they are wrapped up in the production aspect.

I tell you though 5X5 is a stretch for any single unit and while they might be advertised for such, it's not going to make it so unless the unit is 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 and you hang it 40 inches above the canopy. I have 4 Mars 1200w and 2 of the black dog equivalent as well as 2 blackdog 750 xl-u's (1500w led unit like mars 1600) I say that so you can know I'm speaking from experience. Now par data is misleading with led's but I have the data for the XL-U which is similar to the Mars II 1600, Hope it helps...

You have the experience I am totally lacking in. I was finding it very frustrating to try and spec out a lighting plan without the proper data from manufactures

I think I am ok now and solid on my plan. Thanks to the "experience" of the growers on this forum.

Here are some pics of a couple critical phenos under Mars 2 1200, ignore the mite damage not the lights fault But the mites are now DEAD!

43 days into flower, they smell real nice too!, very fruity!

Seeing if I get any more bud swell before harvest, should be week-2 tops.

Just wanted to say i got my 2 new 100x3w units in....6 days from ordering.

Right on Sara, Thanks for the quick delivery!

both units are in working order.

one thing i noticed in comparison to the other similar 100x3 unit from an eBay seller is that these are lot brighter than what was supposed to be equivalent output. i dont have a watt meter but i saw a youtube of a guy with the same unit from the ebay seller and it only pulled 90w of the advertised 150-170w.

I dont know if these are pulling the full juice or not but one thing is for sure...these are brighter!!

Data aside these lights are certainly effective, you won't be disappointed.

I can see from all the Journals that they are and I was very close to pulling the trigger - just decided through my research that they are not the proper fit for me "this" round - thanks for your help though Artthug

I also have a 2ft x 2ft tent and im using the 'old model' 100x3 had them about a week annd so far so good

one mars II 1200w replace 600w HPS,. so mars II1600w can not replace two 600w HPS.

aye, had this planned out and is why i built a new grow closet for its own system.

mars 2 1600 will be growing one plant in a 10x12x10 room. just waiting for current flower room to finish. then hopefully no more then a week after i should have the room up and running. real excited but want to make sure its perfect !

Edit : not planning to fill the room, just the area im growing in (walking space, as well as other walk ways to other closets in the same room.

room size 2mtr long x 1.6 wide. 2 mtr high.
option 1. 2 x mars 2, 700w. in the middlish , with 2 x Reflector LED Grow light 96x3w, at the front end
option 2. 2 x mars 1600w

The room will have 4 x NFT trays, at 1.5 mtr long each.

No worries Sara. That isn't a deal breaker. It just means I would need to use a six outlet power strip rated for the load and some cord management techniques.

It looks like I'll be setting up a 8'x4' flowering tent soon. I've been using one of the old 128x3 lights (no longer available but if there are some laying around in the warehouse let me know.) I've been pleased with it.

I'm thinking that six of the 100x3's would be a great fit in the 8'x4' tent and would offer amazing bang for the buck. I'll shoot you an email when I'm ready to order.
