Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

the 240 x 5w Mars II have an actual draw of 520w give or take not 1200 and Ive had alot of time to play around with heights I switched to led over 3 years ago, I actually have 2 of them that close and 2 more 320 x 3w Area 51 panels that close too. Epistar diodes arent the brightest out there, my 3w Helexion diodes are just as bright with just as good penetration as the 5w epistars, but I paid 1500 bucks a pop for those. 24 - 28 inches is perfect for the mars II trust me :)

Wish i had as much room as you do.. will only have 2 mtrs height. the 1200's are to big. interesting, my buddy has a GN0006 3 watt leds, and keeps it about 20 inches away or gets leaf burn...

how many flowering sites are you putting in the 5x10? do you do a rolling perpetual grow or do you run one batch at a time? do you adjust light height to plant height or have them grow up to lights that stay at a fixed height? sounds like a well thought out system, even better that it's self made. love to see the pics

I've got 3 9-plant sites. All spaced 1' on center in 3 32" cuts of 5" blank vinyl fencepost. I'm about to get the second site going as soon as I get my lights so maybe I'll snap a couple pics, but then again, I don't feel like it would be doing my setup any justice cause there's only one site going in bloom and it has 5 out 9 spots filled due to picking phenos... Gimme a week or two to get the 2nd site rolling and maybe I can spread everything out and make it look pretty!
 
Whew wee my tent showed up today, got her set up, light here on Tuesday, if all goes well will have decided to order one 96x3w and a marsII 400 to go in a DRII90 tent, a 36x36" area.. I wanna check out both lights :).. So do we get 20$-40$ off when we order? That s topic of the thread, and if we do wonder if we can use the coupons that comes with each light order along with the 420mag discount, if so may just order 3 lights for that price!
 
Watts=Amps X volts and the power company charges by watts. So if they draw less wattage at lower amp value(meaning higher volt value) then yes you would save money, but the output of your light will be less too.

Wattage= output of light=cost from electric company. So if you lower your bill you are getting less light too. Assuming efficiency the same.

Where you may have some gain is in that efficiency, as Resistance is proportional to amp draw, so you probably have slightly less resistance with higher voltage cause less amp draw.

Depends on how you grow them. I learned that short wide plants work better with the LED. Tall plants dont have as much of the plant in the 100% par value, short wide plants you can do that.

cheers for the tip ... I think it must also depend on the LED's in the panel. my mate has 3 watt leds, but the penetration is amazing, sold nugs all the way down the plant. better than HPS...
