Update time!! And on a beautiful Sunday morning, too.

Here we go.

This is my damaged little girl. She's slowly taking off, but it's taking her some timel. I wish she would bush out some more, but alas. Ime will tell... She's a big bud.

This is my other BB, catching up quickly to my PE girls. Can you see the nodes beginning to form on her? I'm thrilled!

This is the smaller of my PE -- not that much smaller than the other one, as you will see!

And this is my biggest girl of them all, anothe PE. I believe that BOTH of the PE are ready to top now. I hope that someone will read my posts from last night and weigh in onn this. I've read that one should perform the first topping when the plant reaches 5 sets of leaves and top back down to 3 nodes. I remember reading this on the gr ow we ed ea sy do tc om website, so I trust that. But I had so many issues with stunted plants that I'm wondering if they are prepared yet. Oh, how I hate this grow being my first one sometimes...

But anyway, here's three pics of her:

You can cut off the very last growth right about when you feel you can cut it off. It is in the right size. So go for it.
They look healthy so

Howdy Magnus. I came across this journal while plowing through Rideouts journal. I believe I'll sit in a spell if ya don't mind. I'm into day 2 of flower on my very first grow of 2 White Widows albeit I'm doing a RDWC scrog grow. I'd like to offer 2 things from my, so far, limited experience. Number one, as others have mentioned patience is a virtue with these grows. I'm finding, despite being anxious to reap a harvest like yourself, that slow and steady does win the race. Don't get ahead of yourself with to many plants. Life will get hectic enough with these 4 when they begin to take off, this I've seen with only 2 plants on the go. Secondly, I topped at about the same stage your at now on the fourth node and its worked out well. Originally I planned to top at least twice and had considered three times but as the veg progressed new secondary branches appeared on their own and I found that one topping was enough.

Looks like you've assembled a pretty good group here to help you out. Best of luck with your grow. I'll stay tuned.

Hey mag, just a heads up. I've heard of issues with flood and drain with coco because the salts don't flush out properly. Most people recommend top feed drain to waste, it helps to avoid lock out. Good luck

Hey mag, just a heads up. I've heard of issues with flood and drain with coco because the salts don't flush out properly. Most people recommend top feed drain to waste, it helps to avoid lock out. Good luck

I do flood and drain with coco but the first 2-3 inches at the bottom of the pot is filled with hydroton clay pebbles, then topped with coco.

It is true that they can have salt buildup, but what I like to do a couple times during the harvest is top feed to flush out the salts, you only need to do this a few times.

Check out my grow journal if you'd like, I haven't had a single nutrient lock out the entire grow. but yes I do recommend to top feed once in a while to flush any salts out.

All I can say is the two I topped in my grow (4th node I think ) didn't slow down at all and have ended up looking pretty promising! Yours are looking awesome and healthy, I'd say they are begging to be topped!

Thanks for th egood advice. i'll take it to heart.

And YES, I do have a great collection of friends here helping me. They've been invaluable to me, especially in helping me to calm down and just be P-A-T-I-E-N-T. It is very hard for me to do so. I've just got a lot of anxiety about this first grow because it means so much. It means that I'll have the medicine I need soon, because I cannot afford to purchase it. And that means a LOT.

So, welcome to my journal, ScrogDawg. You are in good company here, and we all get along beautifully.

Well, I topped my two girls. How SAD! They look so lost, so forlorn without their bushy tops! Well, too fucking bad, is all I can say. Get over it. You'll grow more colas this way, and I'll be the happy one!

Seriously, they look kind of funny now, and so small, too. I'll post pics tomorrow. Just too laid back and tired this evening to post pics of them right now.

I've decidedd to attempt to root the tops, but I don't think it'll work. They are very very small and so I think they'll just die. I've used rooting gel (gawddamn that stuff is Thick) on them, coating all their exposed areas and the stalk of them with the stuff. Then I sprayed the leaves with clean water and stuck them into Rapid Rooters. Then placed them under a CFL for lighting. i'd love to see them grow, wouldn't you? I'd be surprised as heck and all git out. Really, I would.

So, pics will come tomorrow of all the girls, even the newly naked ones. I took extra care not to damage the nodes on the girls when I cut them. I'd love to see them survive this and thrive, moving forward, growing more branches. I would so love that. And I'll take pics of my tiny, pathetic cloning experiments, too. who knows? They might root and survive? I'm going to be spraying the leaves every four hours during the day. They'll only be left a 6 hour period without spraying when it is nightime for the girls. But I don't think that'll kill them.

Anyway, looking forward to hearing from anyone. You all are so kind and generous with your ideas, advice and support. I truly appreciate it all.

A pictorial update: These first three shots show my damaged little daemon! She's pulling along, even if she is so shot. She actually has five full sets of leaves, but they are so crammed together on the stalk that I'm not even gonna consider topping her yet. But maybe I'll look again on the weekend...

These next three. Shots are of my other BB and I think she too is ready to top! Check er out and tell me what you think!

This is my pineapple Express -- topped! She seems to have adjusted to the castration quite well. All perky and thriving -- I love it! I think she'll get through this NP.

And this is my? other PE who got chopped yesterday too. This plant is like a t8mex watch, takes a lickin' and keeps on ticking!

And this m8g.ht be c,allejd my evil experiment in reanimation! I'm trying to !root the tiny tops I cut off of each plant, just to see if I can do it. Call me Victor Frankenstein, whatever. After applying copious amounts of rooting gel and spraying the leaves generously and often, hey, I might just succeed an rooting two of the tiniest clones ever known to 420mag! I'll be sure to let you know.

Okay, so i'm up early this morning. I was so tired and all last night i was in bed by eight and woke at four this morning.

So here's the update, with pics(!) kids! And wow, was i ever surprised when the lights came on in the closet this morning, as you'll see why.

This is, of course, my damaged little girl (dlg), not to be confused with my Demented Little Girls (DLG)! (Okay, so i'm in a mood...), and WOW has she ever perked up! Couldn't believe it. i'm not scared for her anymore. she'll do fine. just like you all said, but i didn't believe. her leaves are up and perky like a schoolgirls titties (sorry for the sexist vulgarity, HashGirls and AngryBird...) and she's got a lot of growth that's coming through. Really pleased with her progress. really pleased.

And this is my other Big Bud, going strong, still holding her own. Wow. still cannot believe their growth. I'm going to top her tonight, don't you think?

And THIS is my PE, one of the ones i topped the other day! She's doing beautifully. look at that growth!

And this is... wait for it... my OTHER PE that I topped! Wow. cannot believe what's happening to her. she's just exploding with new growth where i topped her. i'd heard about this happening, but had never seen it with my own eyes.

So there you have 'em -- my pics of my beautiful DLGs. I'm so excited. And i just can't hide it. i'm about to lose control and i think i like it. (Pointer Sisters re-hash from the '80s. yes, i'm that old.)

forgot to take pics of my demented little experiment that i've got growing in my plastic seedling garden, but that's okay. they're still doing really well. don't know what that means, whether they'll root or not, but i'm hoping against hope that they will. fun to watch, though. fun to watch...
