Magnus8's Coco Coir Big Bud & Pineapple Express, First Grow Ever! Grow Journal

Re: Magnus8's - Coco Coir - Big Bud & Pineapple Express - First Grow Ever! - Grow Jou

Since cutting 1/2 that leaf off, as suggested by Rideouts (thanks, man), my damaged demented little girl has been perking right up. She was looking so lost and forlorn before, in her big pot.

What might be helping is that I realized this afternoon that I've been mixing their nutes too weak. I've been goign by the manufacturers directions, but I've been reading the directions wrong! For this afternoon's feeding, I mixed the proper nutes up, and hiked them up to a higher level of "aggressive vegetative grow" for their nutes, and they all seem to be responding well to it. I'll take a better, closer look tomorrow to know for sure.

I also drafted up a "grow calendar" tonight. You know, I'm sure you did one when you first started to grow. Where you map on a calendar all the grows you can do in a year, if everything grows right (pun intended). I used these parametres: 1 week seedling/clone stage; 8 weeks vegetative stage; 8 weeks flowering. I know that some strains take longer to flower, but I'm unlikely to try to harvest any of them anytime soon. I've got to get a lot of medication into my cabinet, and soon! Enough of being so dirt poor that I cannot afford my leaf. And now that I'm about to be legally carded for medical marijuana, I want to have what I"m allowed to have, if you know what I mean.

Re: Magnus8's - Coco Coir - Big Bud & Pineapple Express - First Grow Ever! - Grow Jou

Forgot to mention the results of my calendar!

I should be able to harvest 4 grows this year alone, with another almost into flower by year's end.

I'm psyched. So psyched. There's an end in sight to this damned dry spell...

Re: Magnus8's - Coco Coir - Big Bud & Pineapple Express - First Grow Ever! - Grow Jou

QUESTION: How many hours per day should my fan be caressing their little leaves?

Re: Magnus8's - Coco Coir - Big Bud & Pineapple Express - First Grow Ever! - Grow Jou

Thanks, AngryBird. That's the kind of info that is hard to come by, it seems. I was concerned I was leaving it on too long by leaving it on the whole time the lights were on...

Re: Magnus8's - Coco Coir - Big Bud & Pineapple Express - First Grow Ever! - Grow Jou

The gentle breeze gives strength to the plant's stem and also moves air around. Just think of how a plant grows in the nature.

Re: Magnus8's - Coco Coir - Big Bud & Pineapple Express - First Grow Ever! - Grow Jou

I've decided I may scrap the scrog.

(Alliteration is where it's at, baby! Scrap the scrog, scrap the scrog, scrap the scrog...)

I want to set up a perpetual harvest.

So I need to have 3 continuously running stations.
1) Seeding/cloning
2) Vegetative
3) Flowering
(Check! I've got my closet with the 600w LED, my 5x5 tent with my newly ordered 1000w LED -- did I mention that I ordered it yesterday?, and I can easily set up a smallish seeding/cloning station on my shelves. Do I have my three stations? Check!)

I have numerous strains going through vegetative station into flowering on approximately 1-2 plants every 2 weeks rotation.

I have numerous strains flowering in my tent at any one time. These strains become ready to harvest at various times throughout the system, but at an approximate rate at about 2 plants harvested every 2 weeks or so.

I take clones or plant seeds at such a rate as to support the above system at all times.

I don't have many plants per se in any one station at any one time, necessarily.

No scrog, but LST and topping, fimming and whatnot to increase yields.

Each individual plant is raised and lowered into the air because it sits on top of a tower of tiles. The light remains at a constant height; the plants move according to their requirements.

This whole system supports harvesting approximately 2 plants every 2 weeks.

Each plant yields approximately 3 - 4 ounces.

You do the math... I can't. The numbers are too boggling.

I have to thank SuperGroomer for turning me on to this system. It's close to what he does. I think it's brilliant.

Sit back. Enjoy a smoke for all your hard work. What to do with all the extra weed? Uh, oh, I dunno. But I'm sure I could figure out SOMEthing to do to get rid of it... Man, I sure could use a new computer. And stereo. And... hahahaha. I don't know what I'd do with it, but it sure as hell wouldn't be wasted (pun intended).

Re: Magnus8's - Coco Coir - Big Bud & Pineapple Express - First Grow Ever! - Grow Jou

In all seriousness Magnus you think about it. Plants breathe air to eat. To them it's a big deal. There is a scientifically explained study on this. I'm no man for such words. Just bringing focus to; well an" invisible" subject. So you will see for example many are now using burners or C02 and some even dry ice methods. It is another way to fuel a plant for optimal health. where that guy with the dabs go.? just kidding I'm to old for that.

Just an FYI. I use the tiles to raise and lower my plants. The only problem is when you have 10,12 or 14 stacked up, it can be a bit unstable and you have to be careful rotating plants and moving things around. I am used to it. I might get myself some 1"x10"x8' pieces of lumber and cut them into 10" squares. They would be more stable and less slippery then the tiles. I use the tiles because I had a box of them in the garage after the bathroom had been done. :circle-of-love::peace:

That's good info, SuperGroomer. I was thinking of wooden block, myself. Or those milk crates you can purchase at WalMart to give great height, with something else on top for incremental raisings.

Kush, if you're still around, I HAVE been flicking my plants every time I feed them. Seems to be working. I'm also using a fan. Don't know what's making the change exactly, but they're sure getting stronger. Thanks for that.

FYI -- They've got these packets of fermenting stuff at my grow store that I've been wanting to pick up. My lady who advises me there says they do, in fact, work well for bringing CO2 into the mix. They last about 4 months, long enough for one grow and a bit. But they're $50 bucks a pop! I can't afford that, especially with all these toys I've bought of late. Lights, tent, seeds, ropes to hang lights, nutes, and the list goes on. I have to pull the plug somewhere and draw a line in the sand. I just cannot afford another $50 spend once a month (every 4 weeks makes it another monthly bill). And with now a veg closet and a flowering tent, that makes 2 of 'em per month. It's out of the question. Fuck I hate being poor.

Hi
I enjoy your thinking put to words, but please start with 2-4 plants, go slow, get the feeling for it. Cut a clone or two, learn how to clone, all slowly and at your pace. Otherwise you will be devastated if ( I say IF) something would go wrong. Your plan is your goal, go towards it with steady steps. We are all here for you to support and help out.:circle-of-love:

Re: Magnus8's - Coco Coir - Big Bud & Pineapple Express - First Grow Ever! - Grow Jou

Well, you know anyone that quotes Margaret Laurence in their signature line has to be a pretty good book person.

I prefer physical books over e-books although that said, I sometimes take a book out of the library in both formats so that if I'm not sleeping at night, I can read it on my phone.

I don't currently have an e-book reader that will allow me to upload books so adding new ones isn't on the horizon in the near future.

Sorry, HashGirl, but Kandi Kane isn't me. Sounds like a cheap tawdry psycho-sexual novel she's writing, given her pen name. Who knows?

Nope. My novel is in the editing stages. It won't be out until 14 Nov 17, the end of this year yet. Be sure that if you're still following me (and hopefully we'll still be "friends" by that time!), I'll let you know when it hits the market. Are you more of a physical book kind of gal, or an ebook kinda gal? I ask because both will be available, but it'll be easier to get the ebook.

Thanks so much for asking, though, HashGirl. You've no idea how much I apprecciate it!!!
