Magnus8's Canna Cream, Body Butter & Canna Lotion Study Hall

In the shed, Thank you very much. I love old Bears chart. I have enough bud on hand to make some butter this week, but in 6-8 weeks I will have a bounty crop to experiment with.

I decarbed 3 Oz of popcorn buds from my jack herer and amnesia haze. I decarbed at 220f for one hour. I am fine if there is some thca that did not decarb, that is why I chose the temp and time.
I am infusing this with 24 Oz of grape seed oil. I will need to make two runs to get it all processed.
I could not find any pumpkin seed oil so I will order it online.
The funny thing is that the grape seed oil companies are on to us!! Look at the expiration date. 4/20.
Have a great weekend all!

I'd see how you like the grapeseed oil alone before you order the pumpkin. Might work out just fine! I calculated your oil to be 9.58mg/ml. Is that what you got or did you tweak the numbers based on your cultivars (strains)?

Thanks for calculating that for me. When I opened the link, on my phone, it said read only. I could not type in the formula.
This strain is around 17% thc but I am estimating that it is more like 12-13% because they were smaller lower buds.
I just picked up some Shea butter that I will experiment with the infused oil.
So far, even though it is still in the crock pot, I took a little spoon full and rubbed onto my sore back and it did penetrate and did not leave the residue like the coconut oil did. I also got immediate pain relief.
I really do like this grape seed oil and I may hold tight on ordering the pumpkin seed oil.

I haven't tried it on a phone, just a desktop. At 12% TCH you're at 11.50mg/ml. Congrats on the relief!

Also, my daughter is in college and will be home next week for spring break. She suffers from severe menstrual cramps and she has used my last concoction on her stomach to help sooth the cramps and pain. I am going to the health food store today to pick up some ingredients. We will spend some time working with new oils, waxes, and butters. I am excited to be able to do this with my daughter and I will document and post the results here.
I am going to go ahead an decarb one ounce and start infusing an ounce of decarb and an ounce of regular int oil. That way we can just focus on our ratio and not have to wait for the infusion.
The sad part is, I will have to "mule" her medicine to her apartment. I will take the felony risk of driving with her non edible butter to help her with her pain. The Dr.'s have prescribed her flexeral and hydrocodone too (must be their only solution).
I'd be interested if the recipe your daughter has tried worked for her cramps. The recipe I use, which is Magnus' works fantastic for most pain except menstrual pain. It's possible I need a stronger dosage for that, though.

Gosh InTheShed, and they took away my rep hammer. Here, this'll do.

:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

I learned so much in that post I couldn't be silent. Lol!

I use Dave Groomer's recipe. My daughter uses an IUD that stopped her periods for years, and they recently returned. She was shocked at how painful it was. Sweet kid had forgotten. One day she reached for the pain cream and rubbed a small bit into either side of the lower spine and voilá - pain dropped to nearly nothing and stayed that way for four hours.

Wanna know what's gonna change the hearts and minds of cannabis-resistant Americans? The first time they use a topical on pain they've lived with for years.

Thanks, Sue! I have that recipe bookmarked on my laptop so it looks like that will be the next topical I make! I have been raving about topicals to family and some coworkers...and slowly creating more believers! I love being able to help my family deal with their pain!

Hello Friends!

I must admit, it's nice to be back.

I must apologize. I have been so terribly busy that my head has been spinning and it is everything I can do to shut off the tablet at night, take my nighttime dosage and then get to bed.

The book is what is taking up all of my time. My editor and I have finished both final edits and then the thing went to the printer. Just got back the digital copies of the book and I am very, very pleased. I really like the font we chose for the story I had to tell. It just really works. But after the edits, the marketing started in earnest.

To date, I have contacted more than 130 bloggers, journalists, writers, critics, etc in an attempt to get my novel out there, reviewed and noticed. I have also spoken with a manager from every single Chapter/Indigo across Canada to try to get Finding Max placed there. And those are only two points off of many that have contributed to my lack of time. At the end of the day I just want to curl up and sleep somewhere soft.

Now don't get me wrong. It is a terribly exciting time in the life of Finding Max and its and my evolution. I am watching my little baby that I wrote only a year and a half a go grow up and move out into the world around us, into the realm of publishers, printers, illustrators, editors, etc. And soon, it will go out into the greatest areana there is... the public arena.

I am alternatively terrified, horrified, electrified, scintilatted, driven, rejected, and more. My fear grows palpably day by day as we approach release date. I have all these ideas i want to implement and no money to do so. It can be frustrating.

But no bother. I love what I am doing. I am living my own dream. To write a stunning novel that is well-received (it has been so far), to market that book the way I see fit (excepting the lack of money, that is) and having a real controlling interest in what happens with my book and why.

Oh, I got my website for the novel up and running! Which, let me tell you was a feat of luck, inspiration and breaking sweats. You see, I have no idea how to write a website, but I think I did not badly on this one, all things considered. So go ahead and check it out:

Home - Finding Max

If the powers that be don't block the URL, that is. I don't think they would. It isn't a weed site and they are pretty reasonable from what I can tell.

Anyway, it grows late. Just want to say HI to everyone and wish you all the best. I know I have been absent, but I jusst haven't had time to get online and play around in the evenings. More like I just haven't had the energy, to be truthful. My back has taken a dreadful turn for the worst this past summer and is very, very slow healing and we don't know if I will even recover from this one. It is as though my muscles in my lower back have just given up with holding me up and so I have been leaning at the waist and to the side throughout the complete day. Very frightening, actually. So that has factored in to my lack of communication, too.

But I hope you will all understand and forgive me.

All my best,
Magnus

ps. keep on mixing!

Congrats on the book Magnus! :welldone: Best of luck with it. Wish I had time for novels...all I have time for is 420magazine ;).

 That was my thought InTheShed. Maintaining over 50 threads and counting takes some juggling to keep it all going. Lol! I'll be honest and admit I haven't read a novel since my husband passed. I've been completely absorbed here.

@Magnus8, I'm so thrilled for you. Isn't it about time for you and the lovely wife to start the trek to promote the book, or is that closer to summer?

greetings all

SweetSue asked me to drop by and mention an interesting result from using some coconut cream she gave me.

I rubbed some of the cream on a skin tag on my temple just shy of dime size starting a few weeks back.
Yesterday I noticed it has reduced almost 50% in size.
I have a pic I made my son take of it months ago, I hope I can find it to show the comparison.

I use Dave Groomer’s recipe, for those wondering. It’s proven to work for many things:
* Menstrual cramps fade away with administration to the lower back. The daughter says they stay tamped down for hours.
* Any and all aches.
* If you bang yourself up, early and continuous application will keep bruising down.
* Applied up the sides of the neck to the base of the scalp reduces stress tension.
* I think we all have tales of holding off headaches with application to the DMR and the temples.
* My daughter recently missed three consecutive doses of her canna caps, and her anxiety ramped into tremors right before my eyes. A combination of vaping and using the cream on her temples, side of her neck, the DMR, and over the area of her chest where she could feel the anxiety trying to rip it’s way out of her body and we had her settled and laughing again within 15 minutes.
- I use it proactively, applying to the knees and hips before going out walking.

I’ve begun giving the creams away to our local senior community. They’ve begun purchasing my supplies to keep my costs down. I never charge for the cream I gift out. These creams are going to be our most powerful tool for changing the public perception of cannabis.

I have soy wax coming for the next batch. I’ve a friend that I supply that has sensitivity to beeswax. That was enough incentive to make the switch.

Next step is working on getting the scent controlled. Some of these women are skittish about smelling like a cannabis consumer. Lol!

I made a batch of pain cream today using Dave Groomer’s soy wax recipe. Basically it’s 100 grams of soy wax to every cup of infused oil, Dave and I both use the standard of one gram of bud for every ounce of carrier oil used. The infused oil and soy wax are melted in the microwave and the smell softened with the addition of 20 drops of essential oil.

I tell you guys, it doesn’t get any easier than that.

I started with a batch using coconut oil. I prefer the coconut to the grape seed on my face, and that's where the patches of scaly skin are, so I thought I'd try some with the soy wax. I've been using plain infused coconut oil on my face and it's gotten the scales to where they're almost unnoticeable.

I also have a friend I supply who asked for some with coconut oil. That was enough reason for me. :battingeyelashes:

I fragranced these batches with lavender oil. One of these days I'll remember to pick up some peppermint. I think the two together will be heavenly, but lavender melds with the canna scent quite well, and it's my personal favorite for relaxation. Who in pain wouldn't appreciate a little lavender wafting around?

The little holders are great for the pocket or purse, but they leak when filled. I forgot to do them at the freezer door and immediately set them inside.

On to the grape seed oil batch, my most popular offering.

I microwaved the first two minutes in 30-second shots and then finished up with a final burst of a full minute, and a last blast of 15 seconds, bringing the time up to a full 3 minutes and 15 seconds. There was no reason to break it up like that, and it might melt faster if I don't stop it all along the way. Lol!

The point is, it takes no time at all to melt together. Add the 20 drops of lavender oil and pour into the containers.

Two of the containers leaked badly enough that I had to toss them into the freezer. One was so bad that I ended up emptying it into a jar and melting it down again. I left it in the jar.

This wasn't a concern with the beeswax, so there's a slight difference in consistency I'll remember to compensate for next time. I can fill them right next to the fridge and set them directly into the freezer to speed the setting time. It only takes a few minutes to stabalize them.

The small containers leak no matter what. I cleaned these out along the bottom with a toothpick and wiped them good. After they're solid this isn't a problem. I carry one in my jeans pocket all the time to use on anything that goes "Ouch!" or for applying to the DMR.

Another successful batch, and time to buy more deodorant containers. Changing the public perception of cannabis one pain-relieved friend at a time. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Brilliant tutorial SweetSue! I have people in my office who would never dream of using cannabis for anything until they try my oil. One pain-relieved friend at a time truly is the way to do this!
