Lady Cannafan Shrooming Midwest Grow Kits & Spore Genetics - APE, Blue Meanie & More

Isn't it funny, trying for weeks to get mycelium...and now I have more than I can process for awhile.

All of the agar petri dishes and condiment cups from a couple weeks ago or so have great looking large areas of white mycelium. I have 3 jars of liquid culture that are doing awesome (no sign of contaminants at this point), I mix them with the magnetic stirrer once a day, and 4 jars of birdseed getting great mycelium coverage. I did a break and shake on one this morning.

The liquid culture will go into syringes when it's ready in a few days, I have several 30-35ml syringes with caps and 20 4" blunt tip dispensing needles to draw the culture in from the jars. When those are filled they will be stored in sealed bags in the fridge until needed for the next grain jars I make up.

I'm hoping to get grain to grain transfers done later on.

So, in the meantime the agar plates have been vacuum sealed in separate bags and are being stored in the fridge. I want to see how they hold up, and for how long.

My goal is to be down to one method of keeping things ready for the shoeboxes and substrate mix.
Sounds Like you may need another name.....Lady Shroomafan

Sounds Like things are progressing nicely

Its all very scientific to me 🤣 has me intrigued but only as a voyeur 😊 those jars with the little white bits remind me of when I had some sea monkeys as a kid 🤣🤣🤣
Brian Shrimp 🦐 is what they were. Sea Monkeys 🙈! I wonder how many unsuspecting kids they ripped off and how much they made? lol CL🍀

Im a Santa look alike big belly, long white beard and Jolly to boot. My gf is always mad that I don't take off the month of December and do the Santa gig for big $$$.
Stop being naughty and peeking. Jk

Loading stocking stuffers for all the good boys and girls. Santa has a big list to fulfill this Christmas season. Ho ho ho.......

Just starting out myself. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all. I got 5 all in one bags going first with koa, b+, z strain, golden teachers and blue meanies. Just ordered the ecosphere 3.0 also. Hope all goes well. I got the bags from blooming acres and all 5 are doing great.
Are you going to start a mushroom diary here? Would love to see the progress, especially on the Golden Teachers. I'm thinking of getting liquid spores for those soon.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!

I guess I will try to start one. Btw you are a rockstar. All of you guys are. I have been reading your thread for a while now. I used to dabble long ago but I'm in my 40's now but who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Lol

Thank you so much, what a great thing to read while I'm on a break from housework and holiday preparations!
((Shhhh.....don't tell...}} I am older than you, and I never thought I would actually try to grow mushrooms. LOL

Here's where to start: How to Start A Mushroom Grow Diary

Almost forgot! These are my spawn jars yesterday from 12-15. 9 days ago
I did a break and shake on one already.

I'm not even going to try the rice anymore, I am very happy with how the birdseed is doing.

(The dark spots are sunflower seeds)

Back to work!

I have a few minutes for a break and a question for those using the shoebox substrates.

Where are you keeping your shoeboxes once you have it mixed up? Are you keeping them in a high humidity environment or just somewhere dark or?

When I get these done, I want to put them in the Ecosphere for temperature control and away from contaminants. What I'm wondering is do I need the humidity unit running? I know that I will have to mist them, so I'm thinking I don't need that Monsoon Humidity unit going for this.

The heat is an infrared convection heater inside the Ecosphere, and it has to be filled with water every day. It has a digital temperature controller outside the Ecosphere with a sensor run inside to the top shelf.
Note: the misspelled "infrared" on the photo is not mine. LOL

I just put the lid on them and forget about them. I leave them just on a chefs rack. You can peek thru the plastic but don't take the lid off to peek. Remember Santa is watching.

I don't worry about hummidity....it stays trapped in the shoebox. I try and keep temperature around 72 to 75°. But anywhere from 70 to 80° seems to work for my Golden teachers.

Proper spelling is expected from someone of your stature so of course we knew it wasn’t you. lol 😂 CL🍀.   :cheesygrinsmiley:

I recommend those to people just getting their feet wet in the world of mycology. Easy to grow and stand up well to contamination.

It doesn’t need to have fresh air? I would’ve thought it would. So after I mist my all in one bag I need to keep it in it contained? CL🍀

Most shoe boxes have a small air gap that permits enough gas exchange. Do not use the shoe boxes with an air tight gasket.
