Lady Cannafan Shrooming Midwest Grow Kits & Spore Genetics - APE, Blue Meanie & More

I'd like to grow these. Just the lions mane. Thanks for sharing.!!!
I was thinking spaghetti but a burger would be good too.
Did you try to do a spore syringe for the Pan Cyan to the grain jars?

Humidity is so high here. Check this out.

Birdseed works great too. I just fish out most of the big black floaty seeds and the rest is mostly millet!! 😎✌️
Yeah, some people don't mind the sunflower seeds. I figured a small strainer while they are soaking will do the trick when they've floated up. So far, they haven't bothered me much.

Birdseed is not cheap here because of so many people feeding the birds during the winter months. I was thinking I had to buy some more and just yesterday morning I ran into another 10 lb. bag of it while organizing. :laughtwo:

Next time I'm going to dump the seed through a strainer before I soak, to get rid of all the dust and empty hulls, which should make for a cleaner jar content.

Rinsing the birdseed/ grain is definately recommended.

UPDATE: 12-19-23
The birdseed jars I did up on the 15th are doing well, lots of white areas going on.
I removed two jars of rice that I had done on the 11th because they didn't look good to me. I know I put that rice in there too wet when I processed them. Lesson learned...again. LOL

I processed my liquid culture jars this morning using mycelium from Agar plates. I have to say, the little condiment cups were much easier to suck liquid back up into the syringe after scraping the mycelium from the agar than the shallow petri dishes. So I may stick with the condiment cups after all.

I did two jars of Tidal Wave, and one jar of Blue Meanie.
You can see the mycelium floating around in there. I have a magnetic stirrer, the magnets are in the jars.
Now, I wait (I keep having to say that) for the mycelium to feed off the nutrients in the jars and form little billowy clouds.

After sterilizing the jars and lids, I used 300 ml distilled water to 15ml corn syrup in each jar. Then they went into pressure cooker at 15psi for 25 minutes. Let them cool, and injected the mycelium culture.

I'm going to mix up some new substrate once the grain jars are ready. I will do two batches, one with used coffee grounds and one without. I've read the amount should be a 1:10 ratio.
I want to see if there is any difference in the results.
Also, I'm going to bake it as @AscendedMasterKief does. In a disposable turkey pan covered with foil at 170 F. for two hours, then let it cool completely.

Also, at some point today I will be emptying the Ecosphere 3.0 and giving it a thorough cleaning and sanitizing. I had one of the shoeboxes form Trichoderma on it in there a week or so ago that I threw out. Just want to be sure there is nothing lingering around from that.

The PCE cake has not done anything so far. I have one more Tidal Wave cake that I'm also waiting on to fruit, and 2 jars of the APE still waiting for complete colonization.

I'm also going to invest in a digital humidity controller from Midwest Grow Kits.

It's a reasonable price and is going to be a nice feature to the Ecosphere.
The monsoon humidifier is really nice, but controlling with just the timer set can be a hit and miss on maintaining a constant. I want a set it and forget it control.

Its all very scientific to me 🤣 has me intrigued but only as a voyeur 😊 those jars with the little white bits remind me of when I had some sea monkeys as a kid 🤣🤣🤣

I just laughed so hard. Didn't we all believe we would grow little creatures that looked just like the cartoonish pictures on the advertisement?

We have Mycelium clouds in all three jars. I think I peek more out of wanting to understand the process, than anxiousness. Well....maybe both. LOL

Im a Santa look alike big belly, long white beard and Jolly to boot. My gf is always mad that I don't take off the month of December and do the Santa gig for big $$$.
Stop being naughty and peeking. Jk
Merry Chritmas and happy holidayz you crazy shroomheads.

Screaming, crying, scared little kids that want nothing to do with Santa's lap......I couldn't do it. LOL

Practice your HO HO HO-ing, and you all have a Wonderful Christmas and New Year. Stay safe! 💕

Hmmm.....I need to make a mushroom tree and light it up....

Here is a somewhat long but interesting Youtube video........Enjoy

Isn't it funny, trying for weeks to get mycelium...and now I have more than I can process for awhile.

All of the agar petri dishes and condiment cups from a couple weeks ago or so have great looking large areas of white mycelium. I have 3 jars of liquid culture that are doing awesome (no sign of contaminants at this point), I mix them with the magnetic stirrer once a day, and 4 jars of birdseed getting great mycelium coverage. I did a break and shake on one this morning.

The liquid culture will go into syringes when it's ready in a few days, I have several 30-35ml syringes with caps and 20 4" blunt tip dispensing needles to draw the culture in from the jars. When those are filled they will be stored in sealed bags in the fridge until needed for the next grain jars I make up.

I'm hoping to get grain to grain transfers done later on.

So, in the meantime the agar plates have been vacuum sealed in separate bags and are being stored in the fridge. I want to see how they hold up, and for how long.

My goal is to be down to one method of keeping things ready for the shoeboxes and substrate mix.
