Lady Cannafan Shrooming Midwest Grow Kits & Spore Genetics - APE, Blue Meanie & More

You mean the ones I'm doing up today, right?
Yeah, I'm going with the pressure cooker. I got the big one out so I can do the quart jars. The Instant pot max can only do pint jars for pressure cooking.
:thanks:
How did you sterilize the rice jars?

If you mean the ones already done, those were done with that boiling method. Basically that method is a water bath canning method.
The jars I'm going to fill are going into boiling water to sterilize with the lids before I get the seeds in them, just like you would do with canning.
Then they get filled and into the pressure cooker at 15psi for 90 minutes, like you suggested.

While I'm here, I watched a vid where PGT took some good mycelium out of a petri dish that had some bad spots not touching the good mycelium. My dish with the white mycelium has a couple of grey spots coming on, but aren't near the good mycelium yet. So......would it be wise to get to the SAB and cut that good one out and put into a new agar plate?

Here's the Agar transfer vid:

Yes.....thats what I would suggest. Try innoculating more agar/ petri dishes until you get good mycelium growth with no contaminates. Then innoculate the birdseed jars.

Sorry for the delayed response. Work sux today .

Gotcha.
One of the condiment cups I had done with spores from a print seems to be doing really well. I'll know more in a few days. :thanks:

Don't ever worry about that. I will have times where I'm not available for a whole day here. :thumb:
I hope your work day gets better. Just imagine everyone munching mushrooms like a munchkin....
singing...Follow the yellow brick road....

Thanks Lady Cannafan. :)

I am all ready for the jars. They will have to cool after the pressure cooker, which will take a while.
I made up some syringes with spore prints. I got 5 syringes out of just one of the Blue Meanie prints because it was very thick and large. I am looking forward to more of those!

That would be a real hoot.....all my coworkers shrooomin. Most of them partake in cannabis but they are afraid of the fungus.

Cool, I haven't done the qtip swab in almost a year. After I colonized my first grain jar, I just do a simple grain to grain transfer to keep the whole thing going. Glad you found that method helpful.

That's the goal here, simple transfers and keep them coming.

Regarding syringe needle size:

There's is one thing I want to point out to others using their own purchased syringes. I bought some of the 16 gauge needles, and they are a PITA if you want to use them for a little drip onto agar and injecting into jars. They drop too much liquid to do just a spot, and when injecting into jars they continue to drip when you remove the needle from the jar. Drips all over while I'm trying to put the cap back on.
Also, when you try to shake up the spores in the syringe, the liquid comes out the needle hole and gets into the protective cap for the needle. I think a smaller syringe needle like spore genetics comes in is best for this.

:yahoo: Two more confirmed ladies in the grow. Both Peanut Butter Breath. :yahoo:

So now there are 2 Phatt Frutty, 1 supposed Purple Haze, and 2 Peanut Butter breath.
Shrooms and now weed too? Sounds to me like a party.
