Played around with my new usb microscope today. After ordering, I figured out the snap and zoom features won't work on my OS, but I think I can still get a fairly decent picture with a little work around.

The microscope I got came from amazon: DGCUS USB 2.0 Digital Microscope 1000 x Magnification 8-LED Mini Microscope Camera Magnifier with Stand 2 Mega Pixels

It comes with a small cd with the driver to install, but it doesn't work for me. So I downloaded the Digital Viewer app from: Software Downloads

A neat little stand comes with the microscope. You could use it, but I found that I couldn't hold it with my hand and get a clear picture. An old microphone stand was a great solution. A little rubberband to attach the microscope and I was ready to get up close and personal with the trichomes. :blushsmile:

That microscope looks awesome. I got a cheap jeweller's loupe but I love tech and photos. Next Amazon order perhaps.

It was pretty cheap, and if you have a windows computer, you'll get the full benefits of the snap and zoom buttons. I do wish they worked for me, but it seems good enough for now.

Hey Lady A

The last pic, to me, looks like a leaf...thus more Amber

The real frosty parts of the top pic is where you should look for Amber

Just by her hairs I think she has a few weeks still but I'm far from an expert.

That's what I thought too! I kept adjust the microscope to be sure and thought I must be seeing things. Checked more buds and they were all showing cloudy, a few clear here and there, and a slight sprinkle of amber. My mind was so set on being sure that I was looking at buds, I got covered in trichome resin while holding the bud still - then getting the handheld microscope so close that it was covered. Sure smelled good though! :)

Good point. I'll check again when the lights go out to see if there is a difference in what I'm seeing.

When I 1st saw mostly cloudy I waited 2 weeks and never saw but a few Amber

What I did see was the hairs compact down, or shorten, then they really changed

This is my White widow, see her hairs are compacting more

This was Mary...Dutch Treat her hairs are very short and compact and she barely had Amber showing maybe 10%

That helps! Everything I read was solely focused on trichomes for harvesting; never said anything about watching the hairs. So it makes me feel much better to know that you still had a nice time window to work with after spotting cloudy.

Did you feed for one week and then flush for one week before harvest?

I still have Purple Kush and 1 CBDutch Treat not ready to harvest at 88days in flower today...lol..White widow is 24days behind and may harvest soon..

I flushed for like 10-14 days..some more.... But basically 14days

My CBDutch treat is a a great smoke...so can't wait till Candida is done
Breeder says 9 weeks..but that's dosent mean a lot

Here is my girl..I'd say she is over 3' tall now but has almost stopped stretching

You'll be surprised how dense she will get in a few weeks, can't wait to see her then

With this plant you're shooting for higher CBD, suggesting an earlier harvest date. That much amber in the trichomes and I'd be thinking about taking her sooner than a couple weeks. You have a lot of cloudy, my indicator in my grow that it's time to schedule a harvest.

The longer you let her go the thicker the colas become. My suggestion is to check the trichomes on the buds every day, and if you see more amber developing I'd take her down.

I'm chomping at the bit to do just that! After watering the plants this morning, I thought I would go ahead and gather my supplies for washing, hanging, and making oil. Then I'll be prepared for chop when the moment arrives. :)
