Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Lights

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

That's what I thought too, but those are specks of chili powder that I mixed into my insecticidal soap. Can't find a thing moving, but maybe I don't have the right magnifier. Guess it's time to invest in a good one - I'll need one for good trichome pics anyway. :;):

So let's assume it is broad mites. How do I inniolate them so they never come back? Blowtorch comes to mind, but I can't hurt the girls.

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

Neem oil should do it, also Sierra Natural Science has mite products and their a sponsor here.

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

My gut said broad mites, but I was hoping it wasn't true. I've been so careful - just goes to show that they will find a way. sigh

Ok, ready for battle. Going to grab new sprayer and ingredients to attack those nasty little beasts.

I had a DIY 'flower initiator' recommended to me recently. It's basically a very small far-red LED light that you add to your existing set-up to simulate sunset. Don't know if this is of interest?
Wow....that sounds exactly what I want but probably for less than changing over lights to the SolarSystem variety. Thanks for the heads up!

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

Anna,

My lights are viparspectra 600w. My 4x4 tent has been running on one 600w until today, when I added a second one. So there are now two 600w lights chained together. The lights that simulate sunrise and sunset seem like a great idea - probably would be more natural for the plants. I just couldn't justify the cost being a completely new grower.

Pennywise has an incredible grow going on that has made me rethink the aeroponics issue. Initially, I discounted it thinking too many things to go wrong with clogged nozzles, pumps, heat, etc. Aeroponics is kicking ass and taking names around the forum, so I'm seriously considering it.
That's funny cos I have thought that same thing! I like the look of aeroponics but plan on getting this Coco in smart pots going successfully before implementing an aeroponics element into my perpetual grow op. Baby steps...my Respect to you Lady A!

No problem I think the design can be found on growmau5's YouTube channel.

Lady A, what pre-empted your flip to 12/12, may I ask please? Were the pre-flowers showing? Or was it a height thing? Or were you advised of a particular age in weeks? Some of my remaining veg plants are from regular seeds so I was hoping to cull the males before moving into the flower tent. But as I'm planning on doing a SCrog thing, apparently there are height considerations. And unlike your aesthetically perfect uniform size and shape plants, mine (particularly post the robbery) are a motley gang of different strains, sizes, ages, mis-matched pot styles! So I'm really not sure when to flip.( I'm aiming for my next vegetative grow to look like yours...well I'll try anyway!)

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

Good morning, Anna!

My tent is tall enough that height isn't a concern. If you have height restrictions, you'll need to keep an eye on that. The nodes were starting to show tiny preflowers on my plants at 3 1/2 weeks. Many flip at 4 weeks as a number if they aren't trying to veg longer. I went ahead and flipped due to nodes showing some preflower activity, and I'm not trying to veg an extended period of time for my first grow. I'm trying to get to harvest as quickly as I can for relief, but I'm going perpetual to have harvests for oils, creams, edibles, etc. When I can get a good perpetual going, I'll probably veg longer for the plants that aren't for juicing.

Love it, Boom!!!

I need to print those and hang them in the tent as a warning to all intruders.

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

I need to measure them for my notes. Thanks for the reminder!

Today's update is a good one.

The girls loved their neem bath last night - so happy this morning! Mixed 7ml neem and 5ml dr bronners in 1 L of water. Filled the sprayer and went to town soaking every leaf and underneath until the plants were dripping. Huge puddles were left in the tent. :)

Spraying every three days is my plan for the next two to three weeks to make sure I get the entire life cycle.

This is the sprayer I used, and I must say that I really like it! Not sure how long it will last, but the angled nozzle feature is genius.

Thanks for the advice, LA. I'm also aiming for a perpetual situation so I'll have to decide when to germinate the next girls. I guess if I have the flower tent on a constant 12/12 and the veg 18/6, a harvest every 2 months or even 1 month? I'm going to have to do some serious grow journal reading to research the best options cos atm I've got no solid plan! Your girls are looking very happy.

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

Glad you're seeing some positive progress. Your plants will hopefully forget anything has happened in a couple of weeks. They're looking way better already this morning so something is obviously helping.

I never did catch any pests in mine. Had the sticky traps in there a few days, then took them out and just left them in the room in my basement where my tent is -- nothing.

LA, be cautious of using a lot of neem oil in your flower. I don't know from experience but from everything I have read is that it will affect the taste/flavor of your buds if you use it in flower. Perhaps the more experienced growers can weigh in on it......though given an option between a lost crop and some icky tasting bud I would choose the later!

Thanks, I was worried about that after some reading on the subject. Some of the articles I found said that it would be okay if used in the early part of flower, so I was hoping my plants would be okay since I sprayed on day 6 after flip and was only planning to for 2 or 3 weeks. Maybe 3 weeks is too long?

Would love some experienced growers to weigh in!

Lesson learned:

Always treat in veg as a preventative measure against all beasties

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

Diatomaceous Earth around the floor/entrypoints of your tent will kill any crawlers trying to get in. Neem is ok to use in flower as long as you dont use it to late. You dont want it to still be in your buds. From what I read if you have a real problem and need to neem then a bud wash will clean it up pretty good. Problem with neem in late flower is more of the fact that neem doesnt kill bugs it stops them from eating and reproducing so yeah they will still be there if its late in flower. Other than the broadmites your plants look so healthy. Nuke em into oblivion.
