Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Lights

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

Almost forgot, go to your local hydro store and get some SNS (for broadmites) and blast them. Also, mites breath through there skin so high humidity will suffocate them. Early in flower this shouldnt be a problem. With it being summer it shouldnt bring on the other pest, molds and mildews. Humidity is a trade off like that, High for no bugs, low for now mildews lol. Hope I helped.

Thanks, Mullen

I added diatomaceous earth a couple of weeks ago to the top layer of coco, but I didn't think about the perimeter of the tent. Great idea!

They are looking good Lady A, I have had some similar looking leaf issues, 40X scope, sticky's, and no bugs, but it still keeps appearing mostly on new growth leaves that start to mature (quarter to 1/2 dollar size), most leaf damage starts at the edge of the leaves and progresses to the center vein, I blame it on myself for the LST/training, fondling (I am sick!) the new buds when topping, as the fans grow, the damage never progresses, at least you caught a couple of the culprits!

I did some hard prep on my plants for the scrog which I posted on Dobewan's journal, the bugs are no match for me when it comes to destroying plants!:smokin2:

8F Update

Stole a moment just after lights out to grab a picture with regular lighting that shows these beauties much better. Everyone has grown quite a bit in the last couple of days. In particular, NL #2 continues to grow in height compared to NL #1. Better not be a male trying to spread his stuff like Henry VIII. If so, I'll send HIM to the chopping block. Mmmm, juice!

Let me know how you like juicing the leaves. I'm worried how my gut will react as I suffer from Crohn's. I would like to do that with my trim this time

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

Will do!

All the reading I have done points to cannabis being beneficial for the gut, so I'm hoping to tolerate it okay. I don't have Crohn's but many gut issues, and I'm hoping my experience will convince a friend with Crohn's to give this a try.

The tent is looking full and bushy, so I decided to do a deeper reading about defoliation instead of just a passing glance. Man, oh man! Nothing seems to have such divided opinions as that topic.

How does the tribe here feel about defoliation?

Try it and see! I took a lot of leaf off my last plant after she stretched at the start of flower and she didn't seem to mind. I don't know whether or not there's a noticeable difference in yield or quality either way but it definitely improved the development of bud sites lower down in the plant structure.

This is what I was thinking of. My plants are getting pretty good light, but there are a few bud sites that are in the shadows at the moment.

At least it would give me leaves for juicing while I wait for harvest.

Seems to me that most people are in favor of it....though don't do it too soon in Flower. A couple of the experienced growers I have talked to recommend a big defoliation between days 17-21 of flower.....and then again around day 40ish. Most swear by it for increased yield especially down lower. Light penetrates deeper and better light to more bud sites. Not to mention the benefit of air flow as the buds get bigger....reduces the chance of mold in the buds. If you have a jungle in there and its on the humid side, you have a much higher chance of mold....so get rid of the jungle when it gets too bad. Air flow is your friend.

Thanks Van!

Mold and humidity are the best reasons I can think of in favor of defoliation. My humidity stay around 60% .... which is high enough to worry about the dreaded M word.

Looks like i'm coming in kind of late but I will pull up a chair for the remainder of your grow. Your ladies are looking great! As far as the neem oil goes my input on the subject is just make sure you're spraying close to lights off time, I haven't personally used neem oil but I used another all natural fungicidal oil treatment last grow and the oils ended up amplifying the lights and burning my plants a bit. Also i found out the hard way, be careful not to over defol in flower because your ladies wont grow back their leaves later in flower (caconym's photos display this well) and if you take too many of their leaves you'll end up with smaller buds. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I am a new grower (open to any insight/corrections) but from my experiences in my first grow this is what i've noticed. Sorry for being so long winded, i'll shut up and toke now :volcano-smiley:

Yeah You could always grow another plant to compensate for less yield, you can't make up for mold.

I've trimmed of shade leaves and it didn't seem to bother them at all and seems to help the lower buds for sure

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

Welcome, GroZone! Pull up and chair and get comfy. Thanks for the advice on defol leaves not growing back - I'll take it easy on snipping those leaves.

Sprayed tonight 10 min before lights out and fed everyone. I'm going to need to raise the lights in the morning to make space for the gals. Stretching they are!

It made a noticeable difference on my plants in just 24 hrs, I was quite aggressive because I was putting my scrog screen on and it was my last chance to do a good trimming while I could work on them without the screen in the way.

They really showed growth on the tops and undergrowth that I left, they were about a inch below the screen after I was done and 24hrs later some of the fans were touching the bottom of the screen.

While I can see some benefit of leaving some of the fans on, I don't see the benefit of large fan leaves the size of my hand sucking up the food and blocking light to the lower/inner bud sites. I plan on going 12/12 on the 19th and figured its better to do it in veg than flower.:cheertwo:
