The Linalool will express in one of two directions, either with one found in sweet orange or one found in bay leaves. SenseSeeds has a nice write up on terpenes. I pulled this from their site:
"Linalool is a monoterpenoid with the chemical formula C10H18O; it is found in hundreds of plant species
including mint, laurel, cinnamon, birch, and some citrus. Linalool is a chiral molecule, meaning that it has two enantiomers, or two isomers that are non-superimposable mirror images.
Bay laurel and many related herbs contain linalool, which is a known sedative, muscle relaxant and anxiolytic
The ‘left’ enantiomer is known as S-linalool, is found in coriander, palmarosa grass and sweet orange, and has a sweet, floral scent; the ‘right’ enantiomer is known as R-linalool, is found in lavender, basil and bay laurel, and has a woody, astringent aroma."
This method saves the volitle monoterpenes. When you hang to dry they evaporate quickly, losing over 30% in the first week alone.
I've been testing out the Zamedelica I've been curing this way, over the last couple of days. This morning it seems to finally be at the correct humidity. It went through the grinder beautifully. This is 16 days from harvest. I laid them out on a table for about 6 hours one day in the middle and they are fluffy buds. The other plants I harvested the same day are close but still have another 3 to 4 days at least before they are ready to be capped off and shelved.
I have to check to see what I did different on this plant. This is the 3rd grow of this cut and it's always had a very acrid citric scent to it. Very pungent in mid flower. This plant smells and tastes almost dead on to bay leaves. It's nice, although I'm a bit puzzled at the extreme change. The buzz has improved over the other 2 plants I've harvested of it as well. Great energizing feeling and a numbness in the whole body, but especially the legs. Awesome as I just had another night of leg cramps last night. I'm not certain why the citric flavor is gone, but the bay leaf that is coming out now would hardly be noticable if I had hung it up like normal. This method really brings out the subtleties in flavor and smell.
