Looking Awesome😊. That'll get you through the winter!

Thanks Gee, these should last much longer than winter lol.

I’m fairly certain there’s a pound amongst them, on top of the half pound I harvested earlier. Their quality will be top notch too.

Going forward I should be able to pull out more yield and even more quality with extra calcium, extra potassium, and extra sulfur. Everything else held up throughout the grow.

Being able to provide enough P in the pot throughout the grow was impressive. I’m positive the reason this happened was the strong myco connection and the SRP. The best part is, going forward, that SRP will continue to provide benefits, and I will be able to utilize that myco for many grows by setting aside one of the containers and harvesting the soil microbes and fungi for the next grows.

Dropped the DLI to 38 last night. It should be enough of a signal to the plants to finish up. I’m gonna pickup another case of mason jars today. This may be the last time I use jars. I plan on going all out for an outdoor and indoor grow in the spring and it will be too much for jars. I’m gonna need to create a deep storage and will use the jars for stuff that comes out of deep storage.

I'm finding 5 gal buckets with Gamma covers and 5 gal food grade bucket bags with a large bovedas. From there I fill a jar or two.

How long have you been doing that? Does it cure nicely like that? What’s your plan for long term storage?

From what I’ve gathered, I’m gonna want to take a similar route for the first 6 months to a year while it cures but then after a year I’ll need to look into freezing. I will have far more than my wife and I can consume so I’ll need a long term storage solution because I’m also not going to stop growing 😂

Eventually I will get creative and do Malawi cures, honey oil, topicals, etc. but that’s still a bit off

I have a small room that I can keep pretty close to 62% rh so I like to let them either hang to cure in open air or clipped bud in open bags in the room until cured. After a year I don't have a clue how we can keep it fresh. That's a good and hard quest I think. Hash?

Here’s a perfect encapsulation of the internet:

I googled “how long can cannabis stay good in mason jars” and got anywhere from 5 years to 12 months 😂

So naturally I dug in further. You can keep it for around 12 months in a jar or similar situation like your bags. It will continue to cure during that time. Around the 12 month mark it starts degrading and losing potency.

To avoid this you can freeze your buds. There’s not a lot of prep that goes into freezing them, just make sure they’ve dried thoroughly and you can toss them in. If you’ve been curing them for a year, moisture shouldn’t be an issue.

It’ll last about 5 years if stored properly. You’ve gotta be careful how you store and move it though because once it freezes, the trichomes come off very easy. After that it’s just a matter of pulling them out carefully and allowing them to thaw.

You need a worm farm. It will save you so much work not having to trim or cure at all. 🤣

I was just talking about that.. I’ve been eyeing my 15 gallon geopot and am thinking about turning that into a little colony to get started.

a great deal will depend on the storage conditions and how it was prepped.

it cures for up to 2 yrs. if you keep it in the dark and store under the same conditions as a wine cellar it'll easily get to 5 yrs with little or no degradation. if you store it anaerobically it can stay even longer.

If you're going to keep growing, why the need to store in quantity at all? Lots of different strains maybe?

Different strains/phenos for reference for one. That way I’m not one of those old guys talking about weed from 40-50 years ago like it was some unreachable Eden when it was really just rat fucked ass crack smuggled crap that nostalgia and a youthful lack of tolerance makes me believe was better than modern day 🤣

Also for projects and stuff. I would like to be in a position where I can throw a pound or three away working on stuff like oils and topicals.

One thing that made me uncomfortable for long term storage was a few places mentioned needing to bring the rh down to around the low 50s for long term storage. At what point does cannabis stop curing and start drying out? I thought it was below 54-55 or am I mixing up numbers?

Related to wine, have you heard of this underwater aging? They submerge the wine into a dark part of the ocean/sea/etc, and let it sit for 40-50 years. I imagine you can do something similar for cannabis
