Keffka's Recycling, KOS Blue Thai, Herbies Seeds Apple Betty, Runtz Punch

I stole repurposed my kids' beach sand sifter to process perlite and stuff. They don't want it anymore because worm poop has touched it. 🤣

I know exactly what you’re talking about and that’s brilliant lol.. There’s quite a few kid toys that work well in the garden, especially when working with smaller containers. For a long time I used a kids watering can for solo cups and one gallons since my can was a bit too intense for the small stuff.

I use a water bottles and drilled the caps with small holes. I've got a few with different sizes and numbers of holes to help fine tune the flow. And, you can regulate the pressure by how hard you squeeze the bottle when watering.

Here’s some shots of everyone last night.. I absolutely love the shininess and vibrant colors all around. I’m even pulling some nice darkness out of the Herbies seeds.

It’s very apparent this soil is tuned excellently to indica dominants.. the sativas are pleased but they look like they could use a little something extra. I’m gonna look into sativas a little harder and see what tweaks can be made

I also need to pickup a new vacuum.. my grow room vacuum crapped out and I won’t cross use vacuums for the room

I saw a plant at a customers house today that looked just like this:

IMG_5928.jpeg

The plant was outdoors and didn’t look as healthy but the roots caught my attention. I really like the way it looks and the roots plus the main stem both were impressively large for such a small plant. I think next grow I’m gonna try growing a bonsai plant. I am going to try to establish this sort of root structure and see if it’s as beneficial as I think it could be for growing regular size plants.

If nothing else it’ll make for some good pictures lol.

That is gnarly man

That is gnarly man

I noticed a while ago that the above ground tree roots that run across our easement looked just like regular roots that had been exposed to air and light. This made me think and so on this grow with a couple of the plants I pulled some of the roots out a little bit above the surface to see if I was right. Sure enough their roots started to harden and become the same color and consistency as the main stem. Then I saw the bonsai plant today and it all hit me at once 😂 Some times I amaze myself with all the advanced stuff I know, but took almost 40 years to realize above ground tree roots were actually regular roots at one time 🤣

The plan for next grow is to form a root ball in a solo cup during seedling. When it’s ready for transplant I am gonna wash all of the dirt out and off of the roots and lay them over the top of a rock spread out. This should give me those nice wooden roots that look like a tree.

I’m still thinking about how I will keep the plant propped up, and how I’m gonna get it to survive having its root system exposed.

Who was that "weed guru" from a couple decades ago, old man with very long dready hair he kept under a turban and pretty much robes and a staff.. one of the things he went on about was the attitude by which you entered your grow room :p and he used to pull up his plants by the stem and pull the roots so you'd get the plant sitting on top of a bunch of archways... reminded me of that.

Hmmm. I've always read that sativas prefer  less nutrients, not more. Don't grow them though, so do your own research (which we know you do).

The Japanese bonsai growers get those roots by planting the plant a little higher than it was growing at each up-pot. Not sure how much of the roots you can expose per go without drying them out too much, though. :hmmmm:

You could set your roots around the rock as desired, then cover them to keep them in the dark until they re-root, and slowly turn down the bedding... maybe... it might work?

Here’s the roots I was talking about. I pulled this one out a bit and it has taken to looking just like the stem

Here’s everyone else chopped and tied down and the final transplant

Right after I chopped them down I realized I shot myself in the foot for P. Those leaves I took (thankfully small) were storing nutrients for flower. I’ll top dress with some fish bone meal to offset this a bit. I’ll be flipping to flower this weekend, or Monday

Looking Good Keff!👊 Great color and training. Flower should be a great ride!

So far the grow has gone exactly as planned. I’m excited to see how big the buds get. I’m gonna scratch in some fish bone meal in the next day or two.. it’s 18% calcium so that should really help kick things off when I flip the light

That's indeed some very neat training!

Thanks! Just a regular manifold. Take the third node and run the branches out to the third node. Chopped off the 2nd node and am training the branches to run horizontal to the edge of the pot. This should give a sturdy base for large buds while also allowing enough space between colas for good airflow.

Fun project Keffka! Stoned cannabis bonsai! Whoda thought? I can't stop looking at it!

Me too Keffka! You have a real knack for manifold! I bookmarked your explanation so I can try it! You have perfect timing for your pots! :bravo: Apple Betty's looking great! Almost there!
