Kali Mist CFL Scrog Grow Journal - 05-19-13

I thought it would be cool to compare a few other members Kali Mist plants in flower that are around the same time frame as mine.

if you are on a budget for grow nutrients as well i would recommend General Hydroponics MaxiGro.

here is the feed schedule

General Hydroponics: MAXIGRO 2.2LB (12/CASE) [718301] - Nutrients & Supplements - Gardening & Hydroponics Store - Horticulture Source

Thank you king john I just noticed earlier in your journal you use GH MaxiGro, Researched it, sounded confusing with the mixing tables and all, but I'll figure it out. Will order this in the future. Maxibloom arrives wednesday :) Cant wait, hope this helps improve the plants health

looks like past nitrate burn, and it looks like they want a tiny bit more food at this point. OR the roots are so damaged still that theyre still recovering and cant throw some nutes around like the used to..which i doubt? how long ago was burn? but who knows

I dont think I ever noticed the leaf tips getting burnt early on, just the pistols which was 10 days ago, the leaf tips must have happened about 4-7 days ago. I noticed this morning the plant on the right has a few burnt pistols and the plant on the left has even more burnt pistols after watering with miracle grow yesterday. Must be the nutes or its possible im slightly over watering, hard for me to gauge when shes getting dry since I added a few inches of soil to the top of the pot, now I use time as an estimate

ahh..yeah let the green "even out" and then well be able to see how heavy you went.

so that bottem leaf looks like its gaining nitrogen. i would guess off the bat that it was losing it, in the condition it is. but since you just fed i think differently now. thanks for the great photos

Crimson, Besides my 2 ft T-5 with 4 3000k bulbs, I will have 8 42 watt or about (2800 lumen) each cfl's for 3 plants. Do you have more or less than that? It seems the cfl's you have seem to have gotten the job done.

Evening Jeff, your using T5's? Love those lights, 13 years experience with em on planted aquariums. :). I'd say you have plenty of bulbs, the way their positioned seems to be pretty important due to the CFL's small footprint. you probably have more lumens in your setup than I do, some of my cfls are from the 99cent store so im sure the lumens printed are inaccurate. The T5's do the best job on top at the canopy and cover a wide portion of the plant so I LST to take advantage of that. I usually remove the T5's once the plant is 9-12" tall but I'm sure they could be use around the sides.

Which method are you using to grow out your plants Jeff?

I am going to Lst, top, and Hst. I will try to lst the main branches so the branches are parallel to the ground which will facilitate any new branches to grow vertical, that would have originally grown outward. Any blank spots left by the lst, I will snap branches over to cover blanks spots to create an even canopy of bush. The end result should be all the buds are on top and none are hidden by the canopy, hence a bunch of buds. Does that sound far fetched???

Are you just saying that, or do you think it will work to my benefit? I have had only Mcloadie mention to me he does the same thing. I would think more people would do it because of the increase in yield.

A plant can be trained a million different ways through the above mentioned methods, I think the bottom line is how well the plant is cared for that will determine its yield.

That being said with CFL's Light diminishing so quickly I felt a scrog was the best way to take advantage of CFL's and get the maximum yield. I plan on experimenting with other styles and setups in the future but as of now I'm to fresh to make a judgement call.

I believe Alex and spimp both use CFL's and grow in a similar fashion to what you might have in mind listed in their journals :)

I use General Hydroponics Flora series nutrients a 3 part nutrient formula that can be mixed to different requirements for all stages of growth and flower. if I did not use General Hydroponics Flora series nutrients i would definitely use General Hydroponics Maxi series, it is very close to the Lucas formula for vegetative growth and flower.
