Jon's Sneak It In Auto Grow

@Jon
I run my side lights at a different angle, pointed downward to cause the new growth to grow at about a 45 degree angle. All plants want to grow " UP ". The photos above look like the side lights are pointed at the bottom of the canopy. You should be OK because the lenses will spread the light at perhaps 35 degrees.

I have run the lights at 90 degrees to accelerate horizontal growth ( a current experiment ongoing). I am growing a double tiered spice grow using REMO nutrients (very nice product). I put the seedlings in on May 9th. The top tier are Jalapenos and the bottom tier are Chile de Arbol. Not bad for six weeks.

Here is the current light configuration. The full spectrum side lights were at 90 degrees until the lower canopy spread, then the angle was adjusted to achieve vertical growth.

Whoa! Thank you @Hafta! Man you know your side lights. I’m going to trust the lensing and put them at 90 degrees to the floor. I’ll post the adjustment later on. Please feel free to continue to post these tutorial style gems! There seems to be many folks curious about it and maybe between our two journals we can generate some interesting discussion and mutual interest?

Btw - if you’re really bored we can invent/design a perfect tent for supporting side lights….

I’m a Plan Ahead Guy
(when I’m on my game)

As we know, our beloved (to those who use them) Prescription Blend is defunct. My supply will last this grow, then I have to switch.

I already know Remo is my choice for replacement. From using them once, and not all the way through a grow, I’ve already assessed them as at least equal to, if not maybe a touch better than, PB (no disrespect). They are a bit hotter a mix too. I loved them in my limited usage.

I have about 80-85% left in the small full set I won as a prize. That wasn’t going to get me very far. So I began the process of acquiring gallons of each ingredient. I can’t afford to get them all in one month. Remo is definitely pricey. But I can acquire them all over three months, and I have enough of everything to last that long.

Yesterday and just now I got the first bottles of June. Heh.

Here’s on hand already and the future of Jon feeding.

jon REMO is good stuff because I to am usingPB and can get no more. I hope it gets me through my grow.

Sunday Garden Shot

Our whole goal in this grow was to try to establish a full canopy of autos in a 5x5, utilizing several different strains, and do it so it’s one even canopy. Or as close to that as we could get. And obviously as full a carpet as possible. I thought it would be a pretty good test of my training skills.

Here’s so far. It’s shaping up fairly nicely now that we are beginning to stretch a bit.

For me to critticise even in jest anyone else’s plant training would be wronger than a wrong thing 🤣

Solos so far I’m ok but anything more biggly than that I am not the guy yet!

If I was any good I’d have one more on each side in the middle and train them exactly to the shape of the remaining space.

Oh well, next time...
Btw - I’m choosing to hear “but nice job man” as the final sentence after all this joking. You know - like in my mind.

There was a first time poster on the site who dropped in the solo grow just to say about for his corners for solos with mic stands.

I made well I made one of three new Solo SiPs for a comparison grow Azi is advising/consulting/(having fun with I hope!)
