Jon's Sneak It In Auto Grow

Yoda grows green bud too. This is his Chemlatto.

Yeah he’s good. I don’t post these to brag about some dude nobody knows, lol. I do it because he grows many a strain that’s new to me, sometimes clone only strains, sometimes not, and I figure might be new to others. Maybe someone wants to grow one of these. I may try the Grape Cream Cake sometime when I want a heavy indica. With Yoda, I know I’m showing the strain as it’s “supposed” to be, so I feel it’s an excellent representation of whatever strain.

I have used my bathtub as a veg space before. I was out of places and had two plants to veg. Set a frame up for the light. It was very effective actually. Lol.

The bathroom in the dry/cure room is the wall next to the flower room.

“Do we really need an ensuite bathroom in the guest bedroom?”

Answer apparently is yes 😂

- But its sooo big.

“Babe, no!”

😂

I’ve thought about a single light in there though. All those white tiles there already. Irrigation literally on tap!

Here you go @KeithLemon - Sunday is as good a day as any for this - here’s a couple pictures that give you a better idea of the scale we’re talking about with Yoda. He has five greenhouses like that one. And the drying room picture makes me drool on myself.

Enjoy.

@Hafta - wow, thanks so much. That’s so logical I might get wood. And also so logical my highly logical mind would never have thought of it. It’s a perfect and easy idea. So I don’t need to think so much about how much will they stretch, where should I aim the side lights, and all the other rigamaroles I’ve been subjecting myself to - you’re saying just aim the sides at the base of the colas. The stems, low. That’s the point. I think I get it. So to continue on that line - I have been having a hard time trying to get ppfd readings with all the light from all directions, so I can’t tell how much light I’m hitting the sides with. This idea would seem to apply to measuring ppfd as well - measure the sides with the overhead off and vice versa, yes?

Is that about right? Thanks again!
You have it! Like I mentioned earlier, I don't take ppfd readings so I am curious about your readings.

One More Training Trick

Again for example we use the Apple Fritter. A few minutes ago she had four giant fans on top. Now she has two. Here’s why:

I am establishing a lower ring from the lower node branches. I’m working with six branches after deciding on Sombrero Quad up top. Normally most of us, myself included, would attempt to spread these branches out as evenly around the circle as possible. You know, even it out from the get go. And that makes sense.

However, if you look ahead in time, you can anticipate the four fans up top. It’s how they grow. And as we all know, they can be quite the pain in the ass and block tons of light.

So with this girl, rather than spread the lower branches out evenly in the circle, I took three to one side and three to the other. Left/right. Just as easy to begin your ring that way, it’ll all get even in the end. And what that then allows you to do is chop two of the four huge fans. Guess which two? (Lol!). The ones over the three branches!

This allows max light to the lower ring from the get go, increases air flow, and still leaves two giant fans to act as main engines. At the same time it provides you two very solid starting points for your lower ring. Now you just build it to fill in the rest. And that increase in light obviously applies to the four main colas in the middle too.

So again, just how I do it. But it works. Hopefully you’ll see what I mean in these pictures. First you see the three branches on each side, then you see that there’s nothing under the other fans.

I will update today after tweaking and tell you as specifically as possible.

I grow outdoors but would love to try an indoor grow but there is a lot to know.
Outdoor is king if you have the environment to do it. I wish I could go full outdoor. Well, maybe when I move and have an outdoor plant or two and you eventually try an indoor, we could consult with one another a bit. I know indoor okay. You obviously know a little about outdoor.

I know very little about growing to be honest and what I do know I learned from Shed and Stone Otter. Shed helped me get through my first grow and both are great help with this grow. I try to follow what they do and say.

The whole bathroom/bedroom currently smells of Chanel Blue for Men (aftershave) a very big bottle was washed off the counter when the tap burst and smashed on the floor. It gives the room an expensive smell 😂

Nick

Try Bleau by Alt Fragrances if you're looking for a replacement at a reasonable price.

Sorry for the off topic reply Jon.

@farside05 - geez just for that? I thought it was hilarious. My man, joke or go off topic (within reason, lol) all you want. You’re in the Wild West of journals here. But not everyone is like me, so thanks for the sensitivity, as a respectful (and respectED) member acts. Excellent example.

Ha! Me too. Same two guys. Along with Emilya, and Bill284, and to be honest, pretty much every person I interact with here. Everyone has something to teach me. And both of the guys you mention are masters.

I’ve learned that part of the trick here is to know who to latch on to.

;)

I’m a Plan Ahead Guy
(when I’m on my game)

As we know, our beloved (to those who use them) Prescription Blend is defunct. My supply will last this grow, then I have to switch.

I already know Remo is my choice for replacement. From using them once, and not all the way through a grow, I’ve already assessed them as at least equal to, if not maybe a touch better than, PB (no disrespect). They are a bit hotter a mix too. I loved them in my limited usage.

I have about 80-85% left in the small full set I won as a prize. That wasn’t going to get me very far. So I began the process of acquiring gallons of each ingredient. I can’t afford to get them all in one month. Remo is definitely pricey. But I can acquire them all over three months, and I have enough of everything to last that long.

Yesterday and just now I got the first bottles of June. Heh.

Here’s on hand already and the future of Jon feeding.

Also, @Hafta, I made the side light adjustments per what I think you meant. Could you let me know please is this about right?

And, here’s the Pink Rozay and Apple Fritter.

@Jon
I run my side lights at a different angle, pointed downward to cause the new growth to grow at about a 45 degree angle. All plants want to grow " UP ". The photos above look like the side lights are pointed at the bottom of the canopy. You should be OK because the lenses will spread the light at perhaps 35 degrees.

I have run the lights at 90 degrees to accelerate horizontal growth ( a current experiment ongoing). I am growing a double tiered spice grow using REMO nutrients (very nice product). I put the seedlings in on May 9th. The top tier are Jalapenos and the bottom tier are Chile de Arbol. Not bad for six weeks.

Here is an example of size

Here is the current light configuration. The full spectrum side lights were at 90 degrees until the lower canopy spread, then the angle was adjusted to achieve vertical growth.

Sunday Garden Shot

Our whole goal in this grow was to try to establish a full canopy of autos in a 5x5, utilizing several different strains, and do it so it’s one even canopy. Or as close to that as we could get. And obviously as full a carpet as possible. I thought it would be a pretty good test of my training skills.

Here’s so far. It’s shaping up fairly nicely now that we are beginning to stretch a bit.
