Jon's Sneak It In Auto Grow

Adjustments to the Garden
Light Related

As each plant starts to stretch and I know for sure it’s legit in flower, they will get height adjusted as you see. My earlier ppfd reporting was off because I had the setting accidentally on red/blue instead of full spectrum. With it properly set, I found I can try to increase power to the side lights, and flowering plants can go closer to the overhead light.

The @ViparSpectra XS1500 Pros are now at 50%. The ppfd on the flowering two is around 1000 all around in 360 degrees. The lower veg plants are all in the 750 ppfd range. All good.

Here’s front and back side views.

Geez! I hope you're wearing eye-protection in there! :Rasta:

I think this is the first time I have seen side lights and it make a lot of sense.
Ha! I’m a total rookie, this is my first try. @Hafta is the master from what I’ve seen. And thankfully my consultant. Lol!

Apple Fritter
Day 19

She loves it outside. It’s 92 degrees and 68% Rh. Always fascinating to me that nobody would let their tent get to that point, but outdoors it’s nothing. Love this plant.

Here she is with her wind screen as background.

Love it. I am growing one a clone growing outdoors. Now my AF is 50/50 indica/sativa is yours the same? It is a bushy plant and growing nicely imo. Yours looks great and very healthy. I am using Prescription Blend do you mind if I ask what you are using. Yours is the first one I have seen besides mine.

Awesome! Mine is the auto from Blimburn and it’s a 50/50 cross of Sour Apple and Animal Cookies. The photo version, in 2016, won several strongest strain on earth contests back then at 28+ %. Blimburn claims this auto can go to 25%.

Oh I forgot - I also use Prescription Blend exclusively on all my plants. Til what I have is gone. They’re out of business. Can’t get any more. I have Remo on the way for when I run out and have to switch.

I don't have an auto but outside of looking a little beat up when I got it, it is doing OK, It is the same sour apples and animal cookies. It is supposed to be in the mid 20's like 26% they say it is strong. It should be interesting to see how the auto turns out compared to mine. Happy growing and I cannot wait to see yours matured.

I feel the same and will stop by shortly.

Platinum Mimosa Cookies XXL Auto
Day 25

Both of these girls are beginning to flower. Earlier this time for both than the last two by a week.

That leaves just the two Watermelon Wedding Cakes left to flip. I figured they’d be last. As soon as they do, up they come, then up come the side lights. They’ll be too low at that point.

Here’s a front and back view.

Gotta adjust the sides to even then out a little bit this is pretty much it. Everyone is up and I’m pretty sure they have enough light.

@Jon
Plants are looking great. A suggestion ...... the side lights are to provide additional light penetration beneath the main canopy. Try turning off the main lights and observing the penetration of the side lights before adjusting them. Then adjust them to the position that provides maximum penetration to the main trunk. Then turn on the mains again.

@Hafta - wow, thanks so much. That’s so logical I might get wood. And also so logical my highly logical mind would never have thought of it. It’s a perfect and easy idea. So I don’t need to think so much about how much will they stretch, where should I aim the side lights, and all the other rigamaroles I’ve been subjecting myself to - you’re saying just aim the sides at the base of the colas. The stems, low. That’s the point. I think I get it. So to continue on that line - I have been having a hard time trying to get ppfd readings with all the light from all directions, so I can’t tell how much light I’m hitting the sides with. This idea would seem to apply to measuring ppfd as well - measure the sides with the overhead off and vice versa, yes?

Is that about right? Thanks again!
