Jon's Sneak It In Auto Grow

I seen the screws but how can you remove it without having a longer cord from the driver? CL🍀
Um….extension cords? Edit: oh, you mean from the driver to the light. Yeah, I don’t know. Didn’t think it that far through. I knew it was staying.

Thanks for your edit cause I’m looking @ it now and it might come off the board but it’s not gonna detach entirely. CL🍀

Yup, sorry @CaptainLucky, I misunderstood you the first time. Yeah I don’t know how you’d do it. @Kanno26 showed me a picture of it removed, maybe he can offer some insight. I dare not try it. That what the KS3000 is for. Lol! Didn’t mean to make you feel dumb and don’t - or do, and we both are.

More Maintenance

Had to add the second AC unit today. Growing in Florida in the summer is no joke. My garage is 102 degrees. With the one AC unit running on high cool, I was easily able to control the temperature, but I could only get the RH into the low 60s. That’s been perfect for so far during veg, but obviously too high for flowering. Which is soon. So in comes the second unit. Now they are both running on low and we’re at 74 degrees and 54% RH in ten minutes. This will work, I know from experience. The plants are simply running hot and are in high gear right now. Lots of respiratory stuff going on. This will bring the RH down into the upper 40s or so. I desperately do not want to have to add the dehumidifier to this grow. We do this first and watch. I believe part of the reason my plants are all pretty healthy is because I fret their environment so much. I think it’s as much a part of the mix as anything else and vital to plant health.

Apple Fritter
Day 17

I like this plant the best of all of them. I love her symmetry, she’s got what I consider perfect internodal spacing, and she looks every bit like she’s going to take to training with ease. She’s super healthy and loving the Prescription Blend (til I run out, lol). Consistency of growth for 17 days and her fourth node is out, pushing 5. Sweet plant. Maybe the highest thc auto in the grow.

Pink Rozay
Day 18

A gorgeous, lime green plant. Stretchy, tall girl. She’s already almost as tall as any of the tent canopies and her fourth node is just coming out. Really hoping for those shocking pink pistils on this one.

Garden

All spread out so everyone has nice air flow. All trained out so everyone has a canopy at relatively the same height. All about as healthy as I can keep a plant.

This is the most work intensive auto grow I’ve ever done by far. I have no idea who thought doing all low canopies would be a good idea. Lol!

Hoping all my work pays off. So far so good. Hard to believe we have nary a pistil anywhere.

If you gather anything at all from my auto grow, I’d suggest you dig this: as you have seen, I treat autos EXACTLY as I do photos. There is no difference in anything I do, not one iota. If I were growing photos in this style the tent would look identical. That’s the thing - they’re the exact same thing. The only difference that matters besides light is that they’re going to flower when they want to. But why would that make you treat an auto any differently than a photo? Until they flower, I’ll top, train, twist, supercrop, or whatever. I feel there’s a perception out there on some level that you need to treat autos differently. You don’t. As you see!

I also kind of get off a little on the fact that in the overhead shot you can’t even really see the dozens of stakes and wires we have going on. It looks clean.

An Auto is a plant just like any other, just faster.

A Bunch of Stuff About the Garden Now!

Ok, first things first. Look what I found on the Gorilla Zkittlez!!!

I also have this type growth on each cola:

These are signs it’s flipping! Today is Day 32. So a bit more than a month of veg time on this one. Not bad. As such, this is when I switch the PB feed to flower. I stay at 5-10-10-5-5-5 (now with the addition of the Big Data), meaning I skip right away to 5ml of Big Data. As they all show like the GZ they will all get on that feed. Dos Si Dos has to be next. Btw - all got a second RGR application today.

Here’s how we go to war with the GZ:

Since the first girl is going to flower, this is also when we switch the light cycle from 24/0 to 20/4 for the rest of the grow. I had to use two timers, and shout out to @Grand Daddy Black for sharing his timer issues recently. I’ve made the same mistake and it reminded me to be careful as I set them today.

Then another thing for anyone who wants it. Here’s a step by step of how I make the stakes from the straight skewers:

And if you want it even easier you can get this kind of skewer and negate the need for tape as the head holds it in place firmly:

The construction on the latter is self explanatory, lol.

Finally, since it’s so windy here I had to relocate the afternoon outside spot for the Pink Rozay. Here’s the new spot with windscreen, lol.

So here we go! It’s on like Donkey Kong.

Edit: we also go to flowering environment now. Note the arrows headed down.

Day 28

Second plant to start flipping. She’s in flower now too. 28 days? Call it 30 as no pistils til tomorrow or the next day? Not bad, especially for a “normal” (non-XL or -XXL) auto. She’s my favorite canopy and the one I think I did I the best work on. Colas are numerous and relatively evenly spread. Very robust growth this one. Generous outer ring in terms of # of colas due to the extensive side branch topping. If you can tell, from the side shot, the middle growth has grown up to the point where it’s a couple inches above the outer ring of main colas. The canopy is sort of like a low mound, almost like one of those ancient earthen Druid burial chambers. This is what I want. The outer ring will grow up faster than the little middles and it’ll catch up to them so we end up, in this case I hope, with a nice, flat canopy naturally from here.

At this point everyone goes nowhere but up. Training is over save for controlling rogues and defoliating as required. However tall they get from here is what it is. @Hafta, one thing I have already noticed the side lights doing is producing more new leaf growth, and faster than normal. You were right. Gracias.

The @ViparSpectra XS1500 Pros seem to be functioning well as side lights, and now the real test begins. These lights are so flexible - they can be used in many ways, a definite plus for them. I have them set at 25% power and nothing is burning, no yellow tips, all seems copacetic. The plants are all at around 1000 ppfd, and that’s in 360 degrees not just the tops! There is variance on the ones closer to the lights. I don’t see any reason to turn them up, I feel this should be plenty. What do you think Hafta, sound about right to you?

In other news, I’ve decided to go Dual Sombrero training on the Pink Rozay and Apple Fritter. One, I’m sick of training canopies, and two, I’m not tent/light/space bound with these two. I want to see how big they’ll get. I need a break on the training, Dual Sombrero is way easier and less work. If they outgrow the current blurple closet light rigging I have a foot to raise it yet and easy options behind that. If they really go nuts I’ll bust out the NextLight 420h and replace the blurple, let them finish with that. Might do that anyway for flower.

So all is copacetic over here. Thanks for stopping in.

That's a really cool layout looks great @Jon.

I got some exciting news - my Yoda from Oregon is going to be in town here tomorrow! His mom lives down this way. I haven’t laid eyes on my buddy since he moved out west several years ago. He’s stopping by for a while, first face to face since I started growing. Wonder what we’ll talk about? Lmao!

He also has a birthday present for me that includes a vial of Sweet Tooth #3 male pollen! I see my first genetics project in the near future!

Very excited to see my boy. I’ll post pics of the birthday gifts. Pretty sure they’ll make some decent pics. Lol!

Pink Rozay
Day 20

Twenty days in and this thing is huge. By far the largest of the 8 autos, at least in the first 20 days of growth. Blimburn is accurate again, this is as they said. The node at the top is only the fourth node! Hard to tell without scale, but she’s twice as big as the Apple Fritter, which is a day older and got topped today. Rainy today here so it’s a blurple day for the girls.

In light of not being bound by anything space oriented or light oriented, and the fact that we’re on day 20 already (and I don’t know when she’ll flip), I’ve decided to not do a thing to this plant. I’m going to let it go naturally and see what she does. Believe it or not, this will be the very first plant in my entire growing “career” that I left a plant 100% untouched. I’m a bit of a training addict I suppose, lol.

So I’ll look forward to a big central cola and satellite branch colas as the PR sees fit to disperse. Heh.

Here she is with the tint function at -100% in an attempt to remove the purples. It’s better…a little….lmao!

Hey jon do you mind if I tag along.
Hi @KeithLemon, how you be man? My god, of course! I’d be honored to have you in. Thanks for stopping by. Please feel free to offer any insight you like if you want on any topic. I try to make my journals accessible and open and as rule free as possible. In fact, the only one I can think of is that here we respect one another. Lol - it’s silly cuz most everyone is awesome and they’re all my teachers. Thanks again.

This is funny…

I told you guys my Yoda is coming by today. So I spent the morning cleaning everything. The tent, the garage, the nute table - everything. Sucking the water out of the drip trays. Etc. all because my Master is coming and I don’t want him walking in and seeing a dirty floor first thing.

I feel like I’m getting graded for a final exam.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Edit: also funny - I reflect on how the nature of our relationship has changed. Back in the day, I was the cool bass player in the cool band and he was the fan who always wanted to get the band high. Now he’s a pro grower and I’m a newbie, and now our relationship is more teacher/student. Very interesting to me.
