Just wow.

Some shots of the girl as well as a rare 11-point leaf (her actual color not washed out by the 420h).

Incredible, I don't think I've had one like that myself yet.
She looks fabulous Jon!

Thanks Rex! Yeah first plant I’ve grown that has this particular look to her. Very striking and pretty. I agree with Bill, it looks like exploding fireworks. Crazy.

Hey grasshopper give me back my pebble.

No Bill, you go ahead and keep that. You’ve forgotten more about growing weed than I know.

This plant is beautifully exposed. She’s getting a great amount of light to everything. On this one I took great care to clean out unwanted new growth on branches pulled to the side, so as to not get a clogged up middle with a ton of flarf. Roughly I chopped off every other new node, resulting in the wonderfully exposed but still way leafy plant you see. Each branch with a top, big or small, is getting light, and many of them are long and have well-developed stems. Since this grow is about quality only with not a thought to yield, I’m hoping the end result is a relatively flarf free plant that I don’t end up with multiple Trim Bins of chopped up, non-jarrable buds.

Here’s a shot of the lower/inside part of the plant showing the light penetration:

That's a beautiful site.
Just love that girl. :thumb:
Have a good weekend Amigo. :ciao:

You too Bill, and yeah, she’s a peach alright. There are many here, usually myself included, who would defoliate some of those big top fans that form the cowls around the top. I ain’t gonna. It’s too goddamn pretty the way she is. If they block a little light so be it. I’m going to leave her be.

I've often wondered about the science of defoliating. It's often touted as a way to open the canopy so light can get to the buds but plants are pretty good at translocating stuff they need from where it is to where it's needed in the plant, so I've wondered if hacking off the big solar panels is counterproductive.

Hi @Azimuth - yep, me too. I’ve talked to many about it. I settle (for now, lol) on @Bill284 once again: take as few leaves as possible the entire grow. For pretty much exactly the reason you said. I remove obvious big blockers when necessary, and I take from below as they become unviable or are all smashed together blocking lower air flow through the plant, but other than that anymore my plants harvest pretty leafy these days. It’s a shift from how I used to operate, and I have seen a big difference these last couple grows since adopting that posture. I’m convinced the need for leaves is great and the plant is well served to have as many as possible.

Btw - not so rare after all. Most of the leaves in her are 11-points.
