CJS Apple Blossom
Grow Day 63
Flower/Stretch Day 3

So we were talking about plants cooperating with training, @StoneOtter, and I'll tell you what, this is probably the most cooperative strain I've ever grown. Just look at how evenly she's stretching! I haven't done a thing yet. I'm going to wait a few more days, then spread and even out on day 5 of the stretch, about 1/3 of the way through. Then let them go five more days and do it again, and by then we ought to be in good shape. She's just beginning the get a tiny bit unruly, and she's bushing up nicely. Still debating one second node growth staying or going, lol. I'm wondering if you have ever noticed what I believe I do - when you train a plant out and create a bunch of bud sites like this, and like we do, it seems to affect the stretch in terms of how evenly the sites stretch. They seem to stretch more evenly when the plant is trained like this, vs. having two or three rouge colas going nuts while the rest stays in place, you know? Anyway, I noticed that on the recent tent harvest plants, and again on this girl. I don't believe it's just strain specific, I think it's about how we spread out the energy. Just pontificating here.

I doubt any of us are greenhouse growers (my Yoda in Oregon is, he's got four), but understand DLI (Daily Light Interval) is useful information to have in the bank. This is an excellent, pretty detailed article on understanding what DLI is, how it works, and why it's important to measure. The article focuses on greenhouse growing and supplemental lighting to achieve optimum DLI in that circumstance, BUT, the general information on DLI is well worth the read if you're interested. I'm not sure if this is going to get removed, it's supposed to be presented as simply an informative article, so mods, if I'm out of line here please let me know. Anyway, if you're interested, here's the article:

She really is on board with the program! I noticed it a while back. Yeah, keeping a canopy within a couple of inches makes for a seemingly tamed stretch I think. When they're all that close they get the same amount of grow hormone is the rumor.

This girl is moving quite quickly, and even by now I felt she was ready for some shaping. Decided to not wait two more days and do it now. I gotta give @InTheShed some props on this: hey Shed, I never even thought to consider the shape of my canopy. It was a ring, it would be round, of course. But then I saw in your journal a post about deciding on a round or square canopy and shaping the canopy as such to fit the space it's in for flower. I was like, god, why didn't I think of that? Great DUH moment. Anyway, so I decided that this girl should have a square canopy for the 3x3, and now that she's stretching like crazy I can actually begin finish-shaping her.

So here's a picture of the training post this morning's post, and you can see the square shape of the canopy beginning to become defined. Thanks Shed. Yet another gem I stole from your journal, lol!

Strawberry Lemonade

She's almost there. Trichs are mostly all white, a few clear, just one or two amber. I'm guessing five days I can get out of her - I'm going for 20% amber max, preferably a bit less. Up weed. Checking daily now. Meanwhile, I can't tell you or capture in pictures just how dense this plant is. These buds are straight up rocks. Maybe my cold temps have something to do with that, maybe the constant feeding of coco does too, I don't really know. But these are dense as hell and I hope you can tell in the bud pictures. She smells like a dream - like slight strawberry, heavier lemony smell with dank as hell in the background. Also very productive. Great strain, I'll definitely grow this girl again. And I included a cola shot cuz her cola isn't too bad either.

So here's some buds, her cola, and a couple trichome shots from just now. Enjoy. I did.

I'm in love with this plant. A lot of times when you read the seed seller's info on a strain, they'll say something like "takes well to LST, SCROG, or any kind of training." I always thought that was just crap they put in to give you another reason to buy, since it seems they all say that. But they don't all say that I've found. This one does. And indeed she does. I've never trained a plant that is as "cooperative" to my training as this one is being. What a good girl she is. It almost seems like she's stretching more wide than tall, as she's hitting the sides of tent now on three sides. Training her through this first five days of stretch has been a breeze so far. Hope it keeps up like this. I don't care if she stretches for a month, lol.

Here's a top and side shot from just now. Forgive her droop, she got watered a few minutes ago. She'll be up shortly.

And here's a bonus picture - they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Well, I beg to differ. I've been on my mom to try CBD for her joint/arthritic pain (she's 78, she has her share...) since she won't get high with me. She kept telling me no, no, no. Today I got up and went to make coffee and found this. I'm so proud of my mom. I hope it works for her. And maybe it puts me one step closer to getting high with my mom once in my life. Lmao!

Flower Day 52

We may get 56 days out of her yet. (8 weeks of flower) This girl is finishing earlier than projections, which generally say 8-10 weeks, or at least at the early end. As you can see here, the window is still fairly wide open. Here's three trichome shots from just now. She's a colorful girl.

Flower Day 52

Earlier I showed you her trichs under the scope. Which tells part of the story of what's going on with this plant. The other part is that this morning, and I blew it off then cuz I thought I was just waking up, and then again this afternoon, when I looked closely at this girl, I thought I was seeing mold in a lot of places. Like, basically everywhere. Moment of panic. At the same time as that thought hit me, the thought hit me that, no, that would literally be impossible to have sprouted to that extent in less than half a day. So I looked closer with the camera, and no, there's no mold or bud rot of any kind. I would have been surprised as the Rh and air flow in there has been supreme for all of flower. Nope. It's a late trichome shower. It's all over the whole plant. She's suddenly showered out a seeming new blanket of trichs beginning yesterday and carrying through today...the whole plant looks like it's shimmering. It's insane, haven't really seen a late shower like this before.

So here's a bud shot and three closeups to show you what I'm referring to. I checked these and several other spots for mold/bud rot, cuz this is happening all over all the buds. Whoa.

Strawberry Banana Cola Shot

You guys only have to be sick of me posting this plant for a few more days. I haven't mentioned it, but my raise up wheelchair has a bad motor and has been on the fritz for about 10 days. As such I'm relegated back to the standard electric garbage chair which doesn't raise up and does not allow me to really see the top of the colas or picture them. So just now I had someone who walks take a picture for me of the cola of the Strawberry Banana from above, which even I have never seen. So get sick of me all you want, but at least I'm mixing it up a little. Lol. I thought these were pretty cool colors and you can see how turned the leaves are on the Blueberry in the back.

Thanks @7Dust2, and thanks for stopping in. Glad your trolling landed you here!

Wow @Jon - they all look PHENOMENAL! And that sugar shower looks simply luscious!

What day you on flowering now @Jon
Today is day 53 of flower. The Strawberry Lemonade is not long for the tent. Hell she might be ready today. Can't wait til 6:30 so I can check her out! After her will be the Blueberry, maybe five days or a week behind, maybe less. Then the Dos Si Dos about a week after that. Or so. What the hell do I know? Lol.

Grow Day 66
Flower/Stretch Day 6

This girl continues to grow evenly and sweetly. Filling the tent now pretty much. If it's this easy to fill a 3x3 with one plant in soil, why would I ever grow more than two at a time in a 5x5? I haven't even worked particularly hard on this Apple Blossom. Granted, she's been very cooperative, but I can duplicate this on any plant with my eyes closed. This 3x3 experience is causing me to reassess the number of plants I choose for a given space. I can't imagine two plants in a 3x3. It's perfectly sized for one sweet canopy. So I would think two plants, in sevens of coco, and I can easily fill a 5x5 canopy. We'll see. Evolutionary work in progress, like all of this. Lol.

So today I had to measure my ppfd, as it seemed she was not praying *quite* as much as I'd like. She has grown a bit during the stretch vertically, and that has her now into higher ppfd numbers than when I last set her at around 1100. Now she's grown into 1280-1340 across the canopy. That's too high for this stage of flower in Jonland, with this plant, so I dimmed the light. The dimmer on the @NextLight 420h is spectacular, the best I've seen, even better than the one on my expensive light. Very sensitive, and very possible to dial it up or down in very very small increments. Almost have to barely brush it to move the ppfd 30 points. It has made dialing in the light very very easy, bravo NextLight. I set her to between 1150-1180. By this afternoon she will be praying the way I want her to.

So here's a couple pics from this morning at wake up.

This first picture is her canopy.

This one shows you her vertical growth so far in six days of stretch. We started flower at the top of blue tape.

And this is her wake up environment. She's at about 68 degrees overnight and around 75-78 during the day at this time.

Let's look at some non-pretty-bud stuff on this plant on her final days of life. Today I got some leaf pictures, and a couple others. Nothing to say anymore about this girl, she's just gotta get done and chopped. So let's go right to the leaf porn.

These first four pictures are leaves. Very attractive, earthy colors. Everything going from dark green to purple or yellow now.

This next shot is the very lowest bud on the entire plant. She's about 8-10" off the dirt. Flarfiest of all of them.

And this last shot is a bud shot from overhead to show how sweetly the leaves go from green to full on purple. Note the leaf in the four o'clock position which is not yet purple but on it's way, while the leaves above it have turned fully. Very cool.

Enjoy.
