Dos Si Dos #1
Trichome Check and Bud Porn
Day 51

She looks like she's getting fairly close, so this morning we checked the trichomes. Pictures are below, and they came out half decently for a change. Very pretty inside of this bud I think.

I also did some just in case, anti-mold defoliation. Which means I took a pair of trimmers and cut all the sugar leaf almost down to the bud between the two main colas and between the pairs of big buds under them. After finding a little mold in the dense Gelato, I wanna do what I can to prevent it on this dense beauty.

So here's the pics:

1-3: Trichomes
4: My attempt to get a blue background behind this branch so it would stand out more and show the entire branch
5. The tops
6. This picture shows what appears to be one gigantic Dos Si Dos auto. It is not. It's both DSD #2 and #3. Note how they look almost exactly identical in all respects. I feel pretty safe saying these two are what I refer to as the sativa pheno, and the other DSD, #1 with the big fat buds, is the indica pheno. This assertion is further supported, I believe, by the finishing time, as in my experience the average indica finishes far faster than the average sativa, and I have found that also holds true in autos with indica/sativa phenos of the same strain. DSD #1 is almost finished. The other two aren't close. Any of you guys who know phenos and how to spot the differences, do my observations/assertions seem to ring correct to you? Thanks.

Ooo very jealous that you get to smoke that dos-si-dos soon! I'm starting to get the essence of what the terpine profile will be on mine and makes my mouth water every time. Looking awesome :)

Beautiful finish on the RP buds, and congrats on getting the coco plants all tucked into the tent!
I don't believe anyone can, because I don't believe such a thing exists. I think we all ASSUME something like going from sun to LED (or any light source change) will cause the plant stress.
Every single one of my plants moves from sunshine to LEDs daily and they don't care at all. The only issue I've ever seen is that LEDs can burn the tops at much lower lux than the sun puts out.

Ghost Train Haze

I took a break from trimming a bit of the Ghost Train Haze to take a sweet bud and show it to you guys in detail. You'll likely get sick of me posting bud shots now, I get it. Hope y'all do too.

Here's four pictures of different parts of the same bud. I brought her around to the Mars Hydro rig to get some real light on her instead of my garage light bulb. It's hard to get the light low enough in the pics cuz this GTH literally shimmers in the light and has every bit of that juicy Haze genetic I love so much. I will be growing many more Haze strains in the future. Don't know why I waited so long, this is my first Haze plant. I'm hoping you guys can see the range of colors you get in just one bud, and also see how incredibly dense this bud is. I put the "I don't care how long it takes trim" on this one, and still the camera shows me where I missed. Lol.

Enjoy. Don't hate me for posting lots of bud pics. That's a lot of the fun of writing a damn journal for so long and keeping up on it. It's almost like your reward. Heh.

Hey there bad boy... It sounds like you have everyone safe now and doing amazing. I am totally impressed with your quick resolve to move to plan B. Your plants will soon reward you. Hope you get out of detention soon. :Rasta:
Thanks....yeah it totally sucks when you get a post or message deleted before you copied down what was in it.

That snap crackle pop thing that happens we were discussing is crazy. I guess I just never grew weed with enough trichomes to notice that before now. A couple times I had to look and smell to see if it was a seed it was so loud. What is it? Trichomes crackling? It's really weird and awesome. I assume you need heavily triched buds for that to happen?

Yes, it is a quality standard that I like to try to hit as often as possible. My brother used to do his best Young Frankenstein imitation when we shared pot of this quality with him, declaring to the room, "it's alive!" when the snap, crackle, pop and the sparks happened. I have used these exploding trichomes to show off my pot more times than I can remember. A lot of people, even out here on the forums, have never grown pot good enough to be able to do this, and I don't get it all of the time either. Once you have seen this happen, you know what extreme quality pot is all about, and how amazing it can be. This is one of the reasons I re-ran this LSD... it was very loaded and I remember multicolored sparks when smoking it. Smoking in the dark... I am a big fan. And I am pretty sure that when one of these pops, there is a flavor burst that is new... definitely a new dimension in the flavor palate.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake
Bud Porn Special

I had a few minutes of the best photograph lighting of the day, and thought I'd show you guys some bud porn. This girl is finishing up sweetly and tossing out her late colors now - brownish red hairs and shockingly red on a few buds. Obviously she's all frosted up and very attractive buds.

A little Jon history on this: This strain is maybe the one I have been most excited about since the beginning. Reason is, this is exactly what I thought I was growing on my very first grow before I was here. Talk about flying blind, lol. I had gotten and eighth of the strain from the dispensary, and it was 31% and awesome, and it also by chance had six seeds. Those became my first grow. So I researched the strain and never came across the Surfr Seeds version, only the Humboldt Seed Company version. It was this HSC version I wanted to grow, smoke and experience, and what I assumed mine was. Well, then I found out the dispensary grows the Surfr version. Entirely different hybrid with two different parents - not at all the same strain. Is it too much to ask for proprietary rights on strain names as they're invented and a dictionary/reference book for all strains, with no strain having duplicate names for different crosses? Christ. Anyway, the weed turned out great for my first rookie grow, but I finished it yearning for this bud. So now I've grown it. And if you put any stock in your plant looking exactly like the examples on the website for the plant when you bought the seeds (I do) - well, this plant is that. This is what the Pineapple Upside Down Cake from Humboldt is supposed to come out looking like. And smelling like. I can't imagine what it's going to smell like dried and trimmed. Right now it's like a fresh, fruity, sweet, syrupy kind of smell. Nothing specifically pineapple, but way fruity.

Here's four bud pics that are all halfway decent. Enjoy. Back to the buds. And I thought @Bill284 was a harsh taskmaster. He's a puppy compared to buckets of untrimmed buds yelling at me for a haircut. Lol.

Beautiful.
Great work Jon.
Do you think she is 31% ?
Is she going to be able to finish up outside?

Stay safe
Bill
I have no way to test and who can tell when it's still on the plant? I doubt it, although HSC says their version gets to the upper 20s. It's all about the terpenes with this one for me. I watched the HSC video on the site on it and dude talks about how extensive the search was and all that. It's cool. So I am not concerned with anything but quality on any of these plants, and this one seems it won't disappoint there. Also looks to be a relatively easy trim, much like the Raspberry Parfait. Btw - the RP overpowers every smell in this room, and trust me all this weed stinks by any standard. But you can't smell any of it cuz of the Raspberry. It's crazy how overwhelming the odor is on that one.

Btw Bill, now that the coco girls are in the tent a few days, I can smell them too. Faint, just beginning, but couldn't tell at all outside. I have a feeling the Blueberry is gonna overwhelm the others in that regard, but also think a tent of Dos Si Dos, Strawberry Lemonade, and Blueberry is likely to make my nose smile in a few weeks.
