Jack Herer & Panama Red In Doc's Hi Brix

haha....I just realize i got your journal mixed up with someone else. Sorry about that.

Also sorry to hear about all those mishaps. Maybe burn some Sage about the place?

LOL, or sacrifice a goat or switch to feng shui, my room is close to a creek so maybe the energy is wrong and washing away. On the bright side I only have one male out of the bunch..

I take clones from lower branches with good growth. The razor wouldn't cut through so I had to use very sharp trimming scissors which I've done before no issues. I dip in clonex gel and stick in rapid rooters which were presoaked. Everything is in a humidity dome and sprayed once with destress 1/4 strength. Then lightly misted with RO water twice a day.they are under a 100 watt CFL. I've even stuck clones in a jiffy peet pod in the past and always had roots

FWIW, I never mist the clones with RO. Just a DeStress misting if I'm in a hurry. Mostly just leave 'em alone after one spray.

What's different about your cloning method now compared to the past?

How's the humidity? Low RH absolutely destroys my cuttings. They jus' don' root, y'know?

There's a very little bit of dew on the dome, they wilt if I don't mist, they're on a heating pad set to 78 and I keep a tiny amount of water in the tray for evaporation. I havnt done anything different except the stems are like bark

Those are the way your stems should be!

I use one of the rectangular cloning trays with plastic humidity dome. Fits Rapid Rooters/Root Riot cubes.

I put water in the bottom so it is just below the level of the cubes. No daily spray, but I top off the water when it evaporates. No problems.

I do not do a twice daily misting. What's the rH in the room? It must be real low if they need misting twice daily. Mine fogs up and stays that way.

Yeah woody branches can be an issue at times. I spray with the diluted destress every day while rooting clones. I rarely ever lose any and if I do it is usually because there is not enough moisture in my clone tray. Even when I used my E-z cloner I had decent success using the destress daily.

I must say i agree with Doc on cutting them back. I leave what Doc suggested and it works out well. Any time I leave a good amount of foliage on my cuts they never make it.

Thanks, I'll do destress more, wasn't sure if I could daily, I cut more leafs off, I usually leave a lot on but I've always rooted after 5 to 7 days so never had issue, I've also never had such strong stems either. Thanks for the info

Heheh, I just checked a RH/Temp table to see what my RH might be inside this time of year.

Outside it's -17 F and 60% RH right now.
Inside it's 70 F, so you heat that air up and you get ... 3 percent RH.

3 percent.

I'm glad I'm not dealing with your humidity, I'm at 30 RH outside and in, and I had to buy a whole house humidifier for a 5x5 tent. Not sure how you do it

I can get it up to the 30% range, but I have to vent heat so I vent the humidity with it, and I can only go so low with the fan. A/C for the grow room would solve that but it's just a 4x4 and that's not sensible. I could try a second huey, but I'm just running a bunch of fill-in plants for the heart of the winter so I don't care that much. They don't look very pretty but the produce is acceptable even for a snob like myself. :slide:

Its funny, 20 years ago when I used to grow, I never even considered humidity and even heat or ac, always fans. My stuff came out great, before we had these nice fancy nutrients I used fertilizer for African violets. Then I take a 15 year break and come back to this, what a culture shock. Its like I'm starting from the beginning again and having to learn from the beginning. Very humbling..
