InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

All you need to do to encourage inside growth is to get the outside ends lower than the inside growth. Closing the top restricts light and air and can cause the leaves to die and the plant to think there is no more end, meaning you might as well have topped that end. Same reason you don't leave a ponytail in place for more than 3 or 4 hours. Why do that when it's completely unnecessary?

Not sure what a ponytail is ( is that what stu was doing, when he was twisting the grow tips)
I only pinch the tips closed for a few hours at a time as said earlier

Happy new year brother Shed! Best vibes and love in the new year!
Thanks Lowded! Happy new year to you and your amazing grow :).
Happy new year's shed

Sorry I missed the few hours at a time. New year's eve and all! Why bother with that technique at all when you can just tie the branch down lower at the end and leave it there? That way the plant will do the work for you. Your doing a stop/start thing that confuses the auxins.

Get something thicker than those wires and slowly pull the branches down. The middle will fill in perfectly.

What's today...oh yeah it's Wednesday and it's time for the first update of the new year!

It's been cold at night with lows around 40ºF in the bike shed, but with the radiant dish heater on between low and medium all night in the shed I've managed to keep it in the high 50s to low 60s. Not ideal but short of rebuilding the shed as an insulated heated growing space, it's going to have to do. Even my house was 59º when I got up this morning! No, we don't turn the heat on at night.

I thought I would start with a couple of pics of the annual new year's day hike that we take with another family. Sometimes I go and sometimes it's too steep for me, but this time I made it :). Great views from up there, and you could see all the way from Burbank and downtown to Santa Monica and the ocean.

Not too many plant pics this morning as it was hard to get moving after four days off, but here is what the shed looks like these days:

Is it too soon to know if the FIM was successful? It looks to me like I need to go back and top it but I'm open to what the experts have to say:

One last thing...@moderngroroom had asked about the x10 indication on the TDS meter. I said I would put it in the calibration solution and see what happened.

It was spot on, with a reading of 100 x10:

So I turned it up a little, and it went to 101 x10, which would be 1,010:

I hope that clarifies things. On with the day!
:surf:

Oh one last thing...you may remember this post from back in May:
And this one I took this morning off one of my potted lemon trees. This one I scraped the lower stem, split it, and put clonex gel on it.
full

Well I've been watering it and waiting for it to do something beside look yellow and not die. It finally decided it was alive!
