InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

I am not saying that I consider it LST, but it certainly could be if you are using it for the reason of strengthening up plants. But in my experience that takes place early in the plants life. If you are using a fan in flower, its not for strengthening the plants, its for air flow or keeping insects from getting a foot hold.

And you remember how thin that ATF stem was, right Shed. Look at the picture of it on today's update. I never buried it deeper, the cup shaking worked like a champ. Twice a day, 30 to 60 seconds a day of gently shaking the solo cup.

No question it works to strengthen stems! I use a fan for that exact reason on my young'ns.

try the cup shaking on your young uns next time you have a lanky one. I have ditched the fan on the seedling. The solo cup rocking works at least doubly well since I have started using it. Most of us check on the young plants at least twice a day, so just do a little rocking of the cup when you check em. Its honestly a huge difference with the faster growing plants or the lanky skinny ones.

I know that this is an older post but I wanted to offer a bit of a take on this. I know that we probably don't equate a fan as training and depending on what you are using that fan for, it might not be. But if you use it up specifically for strengthening the stem or branches, what are you doing? You are training it to do what you want.

Most of us use fans to keep the air moving and to prevent pests from getting easy access to the top of the soil. Its probably not the best form of training for strengthening up branches and stems. I have found that shaking the plants (gently when they are seedlings, and more aggressively as they grow stronger) or their branches, you can see crazy increases in the strength and rigidity of the plants.

Shed, you remember how lanky my ATF was about a week or two ago? I have been shaking that solo cup back and forth a few times a day to simulate higher winds that trees and plants experience in nature. In less than a week, it doesn't even look like the same plant. It has virtually no bend in the stalk as I shake it now. I have been doing the same things with my Tangie Ghost Train clones and the branches are strengthening up faster than any other methods I have tried. Original credit on this technique goes to Dabber, but I took what I saw him doing and started doing it on my seedlings and I can assure it is training!

yeah i just wanted some clear insight on the situation this is all a learning curve for me thats why i was asking on the subject..
the more i learn the more i know and the more great techniques i can do to my cannabis.. i just want to know and learn as much as i can and I'm definitely at the right place thats for-sure
i apologize for all the questions guys i just enjoy being informed on something when it pops to my head or if i see it elsewhere to get some clarity on question bc if not ill forget to ask and later on ill need that lol

Just a drive-by.. I wanted to show you how much root I try to work with.. This is from an aeroponic cloner,, so roots tend to get abit longer than alot of other ways to get them like rooter plugs and dome/bag/whatever.. Takes little playing with to get most of the root pointed down in the soil with a pencil..

Hope alls good over this ways... Keepem Green

Text book example of a good clone! :)

Nice roots, fluffy mustache! I'd have planted that clone long ago :).

Tuesday update because I'm tired of searching for my own journal in my sub list :nomo:.

Two plants today, mostly Blue Treacle Auto 1 because I have a load of trich porn, but let's start with the Peyote Critical on day 36. I'm thinking nitrogen deficiency. Going to top it tomorrow in prep for a quadline.

On to the BT day 66, on which the two largest fan leaves are turning black (ignore the bite marks!):

Excess magnesium? Have I gone overboard on the cal-mag trying to compensate for the earlier deficiency?

On to the trichomes...enjoy!

Not a lick of amber and mostly clear, so I've got some time left on this.

I think I'm going to pull all the cuttings and clones into the house tonight. The low in the bike shed is around 50º at night and the heat mat can only do so much against that. I'll move the whole batch to the desk and just leave the cloninator in there. Pics of the move tomorrow.

I hope your week is going swimmingly! Okay, surfingly: :surf:

Looking great brotha!
:high-five:
The black leaves are a trip. Is she still growing strong? Or did she start stalling a bit when the leaves changed?

Wish my little Peyote Critical had made it. :rip:
I'll just follow along with yours now...

Looks like you may be harvesting that Blue Treacle around the same time I'm cutting SLHa. Tric's are about identical.
Love those macro pics. I gotta bust out my little clip-on loupe and try to snap a few. (I'm not good at those without a tripod)

Hope you're having a great day homie!

Thanks P! No stall on the BT with the black leaves, and it's just the two biggest fans (which are different from most of the rest of the plant). It's in ripen mode so I'm not going to worry much about it, but I hadn't seen that before.

I've got a Super Lemon Haze fem photo I want to grow out if I ever have the room...hope it gets a frosty as yours! And I'll grow out the PC as a quad in honor of the deceased :rip:.

Say :ciao: to Jolene for me!

SLH is one of the finest strains out there.. Crazy terpene profile.. Is going to be one on my next seed orders for sure..

Girls look great over here.. GL and Keepem Green

Black leaves? Phosphorus, according to my Canna "Oak" chart as u say. :)
I don't see anything about darkening of the leaves for phosphorus though. Excess Mg produces really dark green leaves according to my chart. Not sure what the Oak thing is.

Thanks Norcali! Once I harvest the autos I'll be flipping the AK and Sour G. That will leave only the Peyote Critical in veg (not counting the clones). Add two Candida to that and will give me room for another seed or two. I was thinking of either an ATF or a DTF. I think I'll save the SLH for warmer months given the long flower.
