InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

All hail the Baron of Yum Yum! Just did a quick skim, Shed. I'm not sure where things are in your weed journey except for the DV, which is looking very sparkly and beautiful despite the little bits of pm and some aphids. Both your plant and VG's are looking stunning as always. Nice to catch up on the latest chat. Greetings and good wishes to all.
Thanks Carmen, and nice to see you around! The DV is the only plant in flower these days but I do have another couple to flower once the nights warm up a bit (seen here pre- and post-trimming). Now you're all caught up. :cheesygrinsmiley:
And here's what I was wondering
good timing
:high-five:

Over 1000 pages, and i seen some things, incredible to behold. I cried here at the end when you loli-popped that princess, but i saw Old Yeller, i know it's for the best. Continued success sir, I'll be lurking, and eating funyuns... crunch.... crunch...................................... crunch.

Awesome, now I am caught up and very pleased that you are trying the perlite again for your cuttings. My lavender cuttings were quick to root in the perlite but slow to grow this season. They have had a sudden spurt in the last few days and need to move out of the solo cups soon.

Great first post here RedRhino, and :welcome: to my grow journal! And like the ticking crocodile in Peter Pan, I'll know you're close by the crunch crunch crunch. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I haven't tried with lavender yet but I might this spring. I have regular and ghost lavender (planted a few months ago so no flowers yet) in the garden so I'll do both! And I think the key for me to get it to work is keeping it on the heat mat. Nothing happened when the perlite was room temps, which in my house are in the low to mid-60s most of the year.
Yeah The Yum Yum thing sounds like a confectioneers title but these are very tasty buds! Pardon my unconventional thoughts that some don't get, mostly Ms Otter
I get you but feel unworthy! Thanks Otter.

Nice update Shed!
Wow you grow your own pineapples! Gotta say I'm a bit jealous I love pineapple! I could maybe pull that off in my neck of the woods but I sometimes seem to neglect the outdoor gardens because most of my focus is on the tent ladies...and also the human ladies at my house lol

Two things for today's update: first is a picture of the thermometer in the shed. It's been cold enough at night that I'm not even moving the Jack Herer 1.1 and Candida out there with the light on for warmth, so this morning I went in to grab something off the shelf and saw this:
20220224_090103 overnight shed temp.jpg

43.9º low last night with no lights, so it's no wonder that heater was working so hard when the JH and Sour G were flowering in there. Never again!

Second thing is relates to what I mentioned yesterday about the WSE website no longer listing Doug's Varin as available. Today I got a message from them saying:
"Although a lot of time was invested in breeding this strain, after several new test results from our breeder as well as customers, our Doug's Varin turned out to be inconsistent in it's THCV level, which is the core property people buy it for. We don't want to sell anything that doesn't meet our customer's expectations."

I asked them what the test results showed for THC, so at least I'd know what to expect if it's a regular cannabis plant. I'll let you know what I hear. In the meantime, let it grow let it grow let it grow!

Thanks N! My pineapples take so long to flower that I forget they even do that and just treat them like every other outside plant. I'm sure they're not happy with the winter weather though. As you can see from the pic above, winters here are a bit colder than Maui.

Oh, and good decisions on focus, because we neglect the human ladies at our peril. ;)

That is flipping cold. I’m freezing up here too and my house furnace hasn’t turned off in over 24 hours now.
Bring on the Spring, warmer weather and sunshine. Please.

Wow at least they made a public disclaimer about it...and cool variety...how old are the pineapple I know they take like 2 years to fruit.
Not sure that's a public disclaimer, but I'm glad they let me know. I'm sure VG will post about it in the joint DV thread.

And I have no idea how old those pineapple plants are, but I do know it takes a lot longer to fruit when the winters are in the low 40s at night! I'd venture to say some of those are 3-5 years old and yet to flower.

And folks say it doesn't get cold in Los Angeles! :) @Krissi1982 would have been out in shorts and a tank top. :slide:

I am waiting for an aphid infestation so I can test its efficacy against the 1:9 spray!
Where did you get the recommendations for your iso dilution? Just wondering....

I'm sure it's different with cannabis but orchid growers use a 1:1 mix iso/water. Orchids are pretty intolerant of most things and are considered semi-difficult to extremely difficult to grow since they are so sensitive.
They do have waxy leaves vs the tender cannabis leaves but I can't help but wonder if a much stronger solution would help? Maybe not the 1:1 that they are using but something stronger than the 1:9 or 2:9 you are using?
Maybe something to ponder...
My DV just looks better when you aren't comparing it to VG's. :cheesygrinsmiley:
Lol. Y'all are funny.

I got the 1:9 from Van.

That probably makes a huge difference in terms of tissue damage. Also, higher concentrations of alcohol dissolve trichomes.

Ponder and test! @dynamo1 is trying out 3:9 on his DDAs at the moment.

You're everywhere. You're Omni-potent...
Look at you, with your fingers in so many pies..

You dirty little pie-fingerer. ;)

Hi Shed! Again its been a minute since. :ciao: And had just a couple pages to read.

I just love your outdoors! Looks like theres a lot going on. Like rock on!! :headbanger:
May I ask you where you live? I’d love if i could grow outdoors up all year round.

And what sized plants ... it feels like I’m completely out of the game or something :laughtwo:

I have very few pies these days, but my biggest pie I share with you. :)

Hey Verbalist! I'm in Los Angeles where the winter nights are too cold to leave them out but most of the days are sunny, with radiant heat to keep the plants above the cool air temps. As soon as the sun drops below the roof line the plants head inside.

Not sure what size you mean, but my big pots are 7 gallon GeoPots and the rest are in solo cups or 1 gallon nursery pots. The flowering Doug's Varin is about 38" tall and about 24x36 across the top (to fit in the 2x4 tent), and the the big Candida is about 36" tall and 24" in diameter (now!).

...to the top of the next page for the Sunday night/Monday morning update! It was a beautiful weekend here with plenty of sunshine and a 2 hour nap today. :zzzzzz:

Let's lead off by saying goodbye to the 1 gallon revegging Sour G that I topped and root pruned a couple of weeks ago. I did want to show you that it suffered no damage and was putting out all new green growth:

Into the green bin it went, as I don't need it. I have four solo cup clones that revegged much faster and will be a much better size for the STS spraying coming this spring. One of those four got transplanted to be a mother plant in case this round of STS also doesn't produce seeds.

It will spend a few days in the shade while it gets used to the new digs.

Speaking of mother plants, the Candida mom needed a serious trim:

So it got one:

And who would I be if I didn't stick a few of the trimmed bits into perlite to see what happens:

Let's take a break and look at a nug about to be ground up from the Chiquita Banana harvest back in October:

Finally, the lemon seed that was planted back in September was due to be transplanted:

Just a reminder that Monday is the last day to vote in the OTM contests, so get in there and make a difference in someone's life! Even if they don't end up winning, I can tell you it will mean something to them to know that they were your preference.

Have a great week and stay safe! :peace:
