In The Lab

Neiko has gallons of the "new" drenches. ARe his plants crispy? Why not? (or if they are I sure need to hear about it.)

Wow, lots of info happening in a short time. I am a firm believer in the new drenches! I love em. The only crispy's I get are admittedly my own doing (to close to the lights or too heavy on the foiliars). I haven't experienced the problems others are.

Just some other thoughts, I think Graytail touched on it. When mixing new soil, I tend to mix the whole kit/kits together at once then divide into bins to cook, I always wondered how the splitting would affect the cook. Like is there equal parts of everything in each bin. I guess I've been lucky so far I haven't had any issues. When I recycle 2nd or 3rd run I tend to do 2 10 gallon root balls together with 6 oz of amendment per bin....4 oz of 3rd run per bin. I add about 10 lbs of EWC and I mix it by hand in the bin then add a light layer of leaves with Roots! and water. I'm wondering if some of the issues may be due to an inconsistent mix of the amendment?

And Sue, I consistently fed the Malawi 1-1.5 ml of drench per gallon of soil. It had the old drenches for 1/2 of flowering and then the new drenches the rest of the way. I had green petioles at 14 weeks, it was a very healthy plant all the way through. It was grown out in 2nd run soil. Doc also pointed out the single bladed leaves, when did those start? Is it only at the top or all the way through. I know the clone would throw single bladed leaves when stressed, like if you top it too early it would get very grumpy for a while. You need to figure out if that stress is environmental or a reaction to something that was done to her.

Neiko, that was wonderfully informative on its own. Thank you. :hugs: I've also wondered about cooking the soil in seperate bins, but how else would it be possible in a limited space? I'll give some thought to a bin on the balcony, though that would be useful only at certain times of the year. It would give me the capacity to cook the batch as a whole.

The single-bladed leaves...... I first noted it on film on the 6th of October, four days after her first CAT. I missed it entirely guys. This is why I count on your talented eyes. :battingeyelashes:

Her last pretty pictures.

SweetSue, Is there only the one plant in the tent?

I wish TripleBeam. :laughtwo: At that point there were three in the tent. I try to keep it at two, max, but the passion to grow occasionally gets away from me and it can get crowded. Lol! I'm getting better at reigning it in. :battingeyelashes:

I was updating that day, and taking pictures.

Great morning to ya Gazoo! So happy ya got Doc. riding shotgun for ya. Should be very cool to see Doc's. seeds working the soil right along side yours. I'm gonna tag along , once you get moving with it. Thanks for all your input these past few days on my journal . I'm very close to starting my next batch too,...may wanna start at same time. Mine will be in first run too. Although i suspect this next grow to be problem free, it will still be nice to compare growth rates , health etc. Have a great Sat. my friend!:high-five:

That would be awsome You know what would be really cool, if we could get a group together and all
start at once. We can all follow along with DOC at the same time.

How much better would that be, Questions could be ask when we are all at the same stage

EDIT: Another thought if we all start with 1st run and we have multiple growers moving
along at the same pace it would be easier to see what works best in multiple environments
and hopeful be able to piece together a working BASIC 1st run style that can be used
across the board

Again just a thought

I like how Gazoo is so organized. I have touch of OCD too. But I have rituals with other things. But growing, I do everything by my gut feeling. Always been like that, but did grow up on small farm.

Cool another OCD brother, I mean that in a good way.

You know its always refereed to as a problem but for me
its kinda of an advantage, I try and use it to my advantage :high-five:

Interesting thought I too have split the soil into 2 batches

EDIT: Wanted to add just for informational purposes I have only
cooked 1st run soil, so no roots, leafs or additional items added yet

Hey Gazoo, I'll start a jelly breath or a lemon sorbet seeds. It'll be pretty informative to follow along.

Nice but Please Note I can't start for approximately 2 weeks.
I will start the journal "Doc's Inspired Help Grow" and post the
start of seed drop at that time.

Depending on how many want to start at same time I may
change the title to "Group Educational Grow" OR something along those lines.

That's even better, I'll have rest of my seeds in. I have a major problem now, I don't know what to grow next. Maybe the new gorilla dosha v2 from ihg, or something from compounds jet fuel gelato crosses. I think I've bought every fire strain that you see on IG

Hi,

I am putting together my own Cationic drench using; Fish hydrolysate, Ammonium Phosphate and Ammonium Sulfate. (Is this the complete list of ingredients for a Cationic drench?)

BUT, I don´t want to experiment too wildly with the concentration and the balance between the ingredients in the ready mixed Cat drench, and I want to start somewhere in the ballpark so I don´t either burn the plants or get zero to too little effect from the drench.

How much of each ingredient would you add to say, 1 liter of water or 1 gallon of water, to make a potent Cat drench without it being too concentrated?
Does the mixture require aeration or some type of activator or catalyst?

The reason for me making my own and not ordering straight from Doc Bud is that I cannot risk it with importing liquids or powders to my country (I don´t want nor need the attention from customs).

Also I can source the raw materials locally.

I am also wondering about the "Growth Energy".

I have found Calcium Nitrate (Ca(NO3)2) sold in powder form by the bag, this is what it contains:
Nitrogen: 15.5 %
Nitrate 14.4 %
Ammonia 1.1 %
Calcium: 18.8 %

They advertise it as "Almost pure Nitrate".
How much of the powder would be sufficient to add to 1 liter or 1 gallon to make a potent growth energy drench?

Edit;
(I might add algae lime made from Lithothamnium Calcereum algae. (red Algae) containing 32 micronutrients almost every trace element, 75% Calcium Carbonate, 7 % Magnesium Carbonate amino purines and amino acids.)

Thank you!
