In The Lab

Transplant: Should be used during the bloom phase alternating with Growth Energy....That always confuses me when I read it in Docs' instructions. Nothing about using in veg. I have not been using trans in veg this last grow cause I keep reading that! Should that be re-written or am I still confused!

This one you can blame on me! I accept the blame.

I've re-written the instructions several times and there's always something that confuses someone. I'm going to go over them again and make sure this issue is addressed:

We alternate drenches throughout the entire grow cycle.

There is some wiggle room here and lots of opportunities for individualized, strain specific use of the products, but if the plant isn't getting Transplant at all, or hardly at all, before the CAT, there's going to be problems.

If the plants are getting sprayed too often....problems

If the roots aren't developed properly....problems.

If for some reason several people make the mistakes listed above, all together......these same folks will have problems!

I sincerely apologize for the lack of clarity in the instructions. I read them, re-read them and try my best, but still there is confusion. I'll go over them again and see if we can't fix that.

Meanwhile, once the state of CA ok's a few more labels, the website will begin to have lots of videos, so we can see what is meant by the words we read.

We KNOW that this gear produces fantastic product. Many first time growers knock it out of the park on their virgin grow. Many of us have grown one stellar crop after another. The new drenches aren't "new" anymore, they've been shipping exclusively since April.

We're checking with the lab to see if they have had any issues on their end and we're checking with the folks who make Promix to see if anything has changed there....but these are long-shots. We're just trying to cover all variables.

In the mean time, here is what the commonalities of the folks who are having trouble boil down to:

1. Fabric pots
2. Several transplants in fabric pots
3. under-developed roots
4. Excessive spraying, especially of SNake Oil. Snake Oil (and WayAhead before it) were designed for certain Frankenstrains that still need a boost even after the new formulas. It was never, ever intended to be sprayed more than twice, let alone every single time Brix is used.
5. Not using Transplant in veg.

Please let me help you this time. Seriously, just you and me....we'll all learn from it. I want to literally help you with every drench and spray so that YOU succeed and others watching can learn.

Deal?

Oh man I could not ask for anything better.
We are on. Give me a chance to sprout some new seeds
and I will start a journal We can all learn from

It simply comes down to the person writing the instructions, it will always make perfect sense to the one
putting it together. Thats what this forum should be used for, finding the confusion and correcting it so everyone
can benefit

Gazoo you are great at posting detail, please post every variable possible on this grow, how you mix and store soil, temps, etc. this may just become a 101 sticky someday, to help many others in the future. You have a big part in this endeavor, and I'm looking to you for honesty and integrity. You hold the torch, make us proud Sir!

The better the instructions get, the higher I get!! Then it gets' all confusing again, good job Doc!

Thanks Brother

For some reason I can see a path to a finish fairly clearly and
it may have something to do with the way I look at things.

I need details and organization to make decisions. Once
I have the information it's really easy to see the path. I
just refuse to guess as that only causes more issues.

I also only change ONE thing at a time and wait, wait
for the result before moving on. Even when my decision
is not correct I still learn so its all good.

Hoping with Doc's guidance I/WE will learn a ton
thinking I should name the journal
"Doc's Inspired help Journal"

Be sure to post the link, I want a front row seat. :thumb:

Please remind me/alert me daily before you do anything new and I'll explain what I recommend and why. This will mean I won't be as available for all the other journals....but those who are having similar issues will no doubt learn right along with you and me....so it should be a huge help to everyone, especially you and me, Gazoo.

So, your new seeds.

If they're older than a year, soak them for 12 hours in pure water then put them 1/4 inch down in 1st run HB soil with a pinch of Roots!

I water the soil first, make a divit with a chopstick, vape pen, or even a pinky finger...put a small pinch of Roots! in the hole, and then drop the seed in and carefully cover.

Keep the soil slightly moist by dripping a small amount of water around the seed every couple days. The taproot will be 4 inches long before you see the seed break ground.

When you get to that point, please make sure I'm on board and informed.

Plastic pots, right?

I personally find the real instructions missing more of the educational parts needed to better comprehend how the kit does what it does. In anything I get good at I always have a deeper understanding of the moving parts and how they work together.

Here's an analogy: you don't need to be a mechanic to drive a car. Follow the rules of the road and manufacturers manual and you have an enjoyable safe drive hopefully. But when something goes wrong with the car... the manufacturers manual might not help, you need to call for help if you know nothing about cars and how they work.

Same with the kit. Give some basic instructions and follow them and you will mostly see great results. But when things go wrong, we call Doc, because the kit instructions don't teach us to troubleshoot. Like the saying goes, give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

I personally find the educational stuff here on this thread. Easy to miss if your not paying attention. More detailed educational instructions can teach us all to be better growers, have a deeper understanding of why we are applying each kit component at the time we apply it, symptoms of over and under applications of kit products, etc. It would be a worthy effort to do this, as in time there would be more of us "kit mechanics" floating around.

I think with Doc personally helping Gazoo with every aspect of the next grow, we may just be writing the new instructions together...

Plastic pots, right?

I will follow your instructions to the "T"

Yes this will be all plastic, 1 gal to 7 gal plastic
Complete Dark cycle in flower
16/8 to 11/13 light cycles

Quick question I normally add some liquid kelp to the water and
soak for 24hrs and plant into very small starter (paper/cardboard) pots
probably only 4 oz in size. Should I change anything
in this process ?

Also Somewhat premature at this point but also
wanted to ask.

I do a long switch to flower 20 days @ 15 less per day
should I by pass this style for this grow

I am really Excited about this,
LUCKY ME, LUCKY ME

EDIT: Oh forgot to say Maybe we should do this in the
background. I don't want to take away from the others
by taking up all your time ?

I can keep records, pictures and directions to post later

Please don't soak for 24 hours unless the seeds are old. A year old 12 hours. 2 years old 24 hours.

I don't use the kelp solution, but it shouldn't be a problem. Make sure you get the seeds in dirt BEFORE they crack open.

I don't do a long switch to bloom, I transplant, prune, wash and bloom on the same damn day!

Lastly, start the seeds in the 1 gallon pots and don't disturb them until it's time to Transplant. IE, one transplant only.

I like how you ask questions Gazoo. Please follow Docs directions to the letter, and "forget" what you usually do, remember we are "all" here to see Doc help you/ us. Thanks bro!

Will do
I will soak 12 hrs (just about a year old) BTW I don't let them crack open, that has always caused problems
for me.

They Will be started in the 1 gal plastic (off to buy 1 gal plastic pots) :)

Since your process is to
*switch to bloom, I transplant, prune, wash and bloom on the same damn day!"
I will fall in line and follow along.

Looks like we have a starting point that is an approved process.

More Details

My soil Bin is off the ground, inside (down stairs, cement floors) sitting atop
2 chairs. I have 3 corded temp gauges in the soil to monitor temp. Mostly Always
between 72 and 77f usually around the 75 to 77 and at worst on the hottest days
I have seen 79 tops, at that point I crack open the lid to reduce the heat.

Have to check my notes now that I think about it I believe the soil got into
the low 80's when I started the process.

BTW the 3 temp cords are positioned one at top of soil, one in middle of soil
and one at bottom of soil.

included the back of label showing this

Sorry guys you may be sorry you asked for Details
