Yeah I'm hopeful that the washing works, I don't see why it wouldn't.. and your totally right, growing up in Chicago I am sure I have smoked my share of PM with all the brick dirt weed and the musty smelling BC's that we had as I was growing up.. I did notice that after moving to Cali, I stopped getting my annual strep throat...wonder if it had to do with better bud quality?? just a thought I had once

That kicks ass that you made a screen... I love Scrogging and for a small space or for limited height, it really can maximize the total yield of a plant...until I move into a place with a bigger grow area, or get a 2nd tent for veg and perpetual grow, I will definitely continue to LST and scrog.. definitely the way to grow for smaller scale farmers like us

yup yup and hellz ya! i know im healthier smoking/eating my own plus its 10 times more potent i rarely need more than a few puffs a day (2-4) some days when i have little to do or im having as i call it a "bed day" the ones where i cant get out of bed i will medicate myself stupid! but those seem to be less the longer i use cannabis! schedule 1 my ass!!
i dont imagine the "brickmakers" spend the weeks burping jars and monitoring humidity checking for mold &mildew that we do refusing to deem it done till that perfect smell and feel is reached lmao! yeah right! paint my ass blue and call me sally!! lol

WTF!!! proof those guys care not for our safety ,,hmmm kinda like the feds

Hey everyone, Day 58 of flowering... Still haven't gotten around to doing some leaf cleanup and trimming but the girls are looking pretty decent right now. I gave them some plain water today, just 5 gallons of 0ppm R/O water to help them use up whats in the soil and leach any salt build ups that may have occured. Other than that, things are looking pretty good

Hey mate, sorry to hear this PM is sticking around But yeah, id probably pull ur good one's soon as theyre near enuf, or you have to, and make best out of a bad situation.. There's always nxt time, hopefully when you start again you wont have any probs and will be better prepared to tackle it if you see any early signs of it nxt time

Hey Everyone...Today is day 61 of Flowering and some exciting updates.. Today I decided to harvest my back Platinum Bubba Kush because the PM had gotten the upper hand on her and starved her of nutrients, and she was starting to dry out. The leaves lost there vigor and started to look dried so I decided to pull her before she got any worse...

So I trimmed her up really nice, trying to cut off any discolored or browned leaf material....She wasn't really a big producer but I knew that she was going to harvest little between the 2 OG's on each side, she didn't have much room to sprall and didn't stretch much in flowreing, so I only ended up with 123.8g wet weight, which will only be 1-2 oz....oh well)

Since this girl wasn't that frosty and had pm, I am not saving any of the trimmings from her. So now that I have all these buds that some are infected with PM, what do I do??

....Well I watched a video by Jorge Cervantez that shows with water and H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide 3%) you can wash your freshly harvested buds and wash away the pm... so I gave it a try... I won't go into detail, because I will supply the video link for that, but the process is just as it sounds.. you mix up water and h2o2 and wash your buds... let them soak for a while, and then wash them and dry them...

Since I was spraying things on the buds to help with PM, I decided to also throw in a partial water cure...before the drying process. The water cure is actually supposed to be 7 days long but submerging your buds under R/O water which will slowly draw out any harsh impurities and leave a very clean and smooth tasting smoke. I don't want to discolor my buds that much so I decided that I am only going to let them be submerged for 1-2 days and then dried, and followed with a regular curing method.

After the buds are removed from the water and dried, I am going to cut them into smaller nugs and inspect them with my 30x lupe to see if there is still a lot of PM on the buds, or if most was washed off.. Hopefully this method will work but if not, I guess we will have to figure out what to do with the buds...extract or hash??? but only time will tell...

Well other than that the tent is looking ok..the front bubba is also starting to look like it may be drying out so it may also be coming down in the next few days but we will see what happens. Also the sour bubble should be comming to an end as well as the blackberry kush in the next 2-3 weeks, possibly sooner so things should get really interesting..

I will be using the washing method for the sourbubble, other platinum bubba, and holy grail og since all 3 were infected with PM, and so far the other 2 (silverback og, and blackberry have showed no signs of the PM) hopefully everything will continue that way

the water will get mucky on the bottom as the crap gets pulled out,but the buds will be great,your right to shorten the water cure i did mine like they say,they looked near black,smoked like a dream,got us very high, just kinda ugly and after a few days no more muck came out,but they kept getting darker,,the scrog looks sweet, a success im my opinion

I don't get it...I've heard lots of people say water curing leaves you with a smooth, almost tasteless smoke, but the two times I tried it, the buds were incredibly harsh...so much so that I couldn't smoke them, and gave them to a friend who used them for edibles. That was before I started vaping...so I don't know how well it would have worked for that. I'd love to figure out what I did wrong, but I did try twice with the same outcome...

vape i have no idea why you would have that result i have done it once only but its true it was uber dmooth ,i did use cold distilled water,and kept the jar in the dark for 2 weeks total

Hey everyone, heirloom, Big Irish Dude and Vape, I appreciate your input on the water curing. I have never tried it but it seemed like it might be ok for a day or 2 before I dry the buds to make sure any pm that can be washed away, is.. I still today see traces of PM on the buds but nowhere near as bad as it was before I washed them, so today I emptied the water, ran some regular sink water (high PH) into the jar, swooshed it around gently, emptied the jar, and then filled it up with cold R/O water with just a few ml of H2O2. This will sit like this until tonight when I change the water again, and then tomorrow I will pull out the buds, dry them with a fan, and then put them in my drying box for a slower dry/cure for about 4-7 days, then jarred for 2-3 weeks for the jar cure I hope this strategy works but if not, I will have some good pure and clean hash making materials or better yet..extract

I may also be pulling down the other bubba and sour bubble soon as well.

For that matter I want to ask out loud a question about some soil I'm looking to purchase called pro-mix ? Heard of it ? If so can u give me a shout n let me kno if I will need to purchase anything regarding my (growing medium)..ei:fertz, guano ? I'm Getting everything ready for my closet grow...
By the way...obviously it will be my first grow n by the way ur plant r looking mighty fine bro..

back in my Papaya grow I had some bud rot on that and the Vanilla Kush and WW. I clipped it all away and then water cured what was next to the affected area just to play it safe, and also to give it a try to see what happens.

If I remember what I read was that some times it seems stronger, because the material shrinks a bit when it dries out so the erb is a little more concentrated. Not sure if that was a valid theory, but those I turned on to it loved it.

To me it seemed a little harsh, but I believe that was from a little to much oven drying. I think taking it out when still a bit moist and drying it on a screen would have helped. Joints of 50/50 blend were great and not as harsh.

As Promised earlier...here are the photo's for today, day 62 of flowering...

Since the PM still is getting into the buds of the sour bubble and the other platinum bubba, I decided to remove the sour bubble today and will most likely remove the other platinum bubba in the next day or 2. I did the same method for the sour bubble, trimmed up the buds, washed them in a bath of water and hydrogen peroxide and then jarred them with R/O water.. I did notice that even though the H2O2 helps remove a lot of the Pm, it does not remove all of it... so I am hoping that the 2 day water cure will help remove more of it. I did add a slight amount of H2O2 to the curing jar to help remove the PM, and will change it out with fresh water tomorrow.

The holy grail og seems to be doing OK for the moment, not showing any progression of the PM at all...

My silverback og and blackberry kush remain fine and no signs of PM at all, so hopefully they will make this a successful harvest.

After trimming up the Sour Bubble I ended up with 114.4grams (wet weight) which for a 2 month veg and scrog is rather unimpressive. I hope that the smoke is worth it, because the yield is really weak...wont be doing this one again...

I defoliated a little bit this afternoon, which you may notice in the last of the full tent photo's. I mainly removed the brown and dead leaves, but left a lot of them alone..

50ml of EJ grow 2-1-1
30ml of 2-4-0 hydrolyzed fish
40ml of humic acid

Hey Sirsmokezalot.... Well I can't really give you a recipe for soil because there are so many different ways to grow and it really depends on the approach you are looking for...you can grow in soil with organic or synthetic fertz and that would depend greatly on what is needed for your soil additives... what we are trying to do here is narrow down a process called High Brix growing but it is still in experimental phases. As far as what to add, I would suggest taking some time to poke around the growers forums and read up on soil, additives, amendments and also fertilizers and this will help you determine what you need in your soil. I have heard of pro mix, never used it so I can't comment on it, but I have had success with happy frog and fox farms ocean forest... If you go to the first page of my grow journal, I listed my soil mix and ingredients...

Hey Hash hound, much appreciate your feedback on your results of using a water cure... I am only going 2 days instead of the full 7 so I am hoping to wash away most of the PM, but leave all the flavinoids and other goodies in the buds for a nice slow jar cure.. not really sure what to expect but the way I look at it is anything that helps remove the PM is cool with me
