Icemud's Organic SCROG! Grow 3.0

Wow I messed up pretty bad... I did something that I knew I shouldn't have done but did it anyways out of being my curious self.. I was using my clothes steamer on the soil of my platinum bubba, because it had a very high abundance of "springtails" which are little white fast moving bugs that jump... They are actually beneficial to the plants because they help eat the organic materials and break down fungi but there were so many of them that I decided to rapidly reduce the population with the steamer, and it worked very well. I just pulled back the top 1/2" of soil and blasted it with a quick 5 seconds of steam, and the lil buggers died instantly. I used this technique for a very severe fungus gnat infestation in a past grow with success.... NOW, the part that my curiosity messed me up...

So, thinking about how steamers are used in bathrooms and sterilizing procedures to kill molds, mildews and bacterias, so I was thinking to myself, hmmm... I wonder if it will rid the PM from my plants... BIG MISTAKE!!!! I used it on my 4 infected plants, trying to move quickly and only "brush" the plants with the steam to get only the PM and not too much of the leaves...but yeah... they plants did not like it at all... Things immediately after doing this looked fine, but as I checked the plants the next day... I fried Tons of my leaves and buds... just instantly brown!! damn.. I just went from a good grow to crap!!! all because this damn pm!! I think very soon I may be harvesting whats left of the 4 infected plants, washing the buds in H2O2/water before drying, and letting my silverback og and blackberry kush finish up unharmed... hopefully....

At this point I am so disappointed at what I am seeing, that I don't even want to post photo's for a few days until I see what happens...
I think that overall I still may have success with the silverback, and so far the blackberry kush is looking beyond fantastic...so at least the positive side of things is that :) I am waiting on a check and the first thing I am going to purchase is some serinade or greencure..as well as hitting up SNS about the free samples today :)

Wish me luck! I don't want to let you guys down...

I know, I know. I'm in the poor house at the moment so I have no choice but to use my well water. Would much rather filter it. One day.

I have the same problem with the water in my location....more chlorine then anything!!! I have a whole house filter and I know when the filter needs to be changed...I can smell the chlorine and god only knows what other stuff is in there. I use a Brita filter....it's a 2 liter container...think I paid like $50 for it and works really good. I also let my water stand for 24 hrs at least before using it and it seems to work okay. No ill effects on my plants or me......well...LOL!

Good Luck and Happy Grows!!!!!

WOW....Being new not sure of the total lingo but from reading your posts you are very and experience and that does not sound good! Hopefully they spring back and it's only a temp situation?!?!? Wishing you luck and Keeping my fingers crossed for some salvagability!

And to stay positive...it's not letting anyone down.....it's a lesson on what not to do now!!!!

Yeah I feel ya on the chlorine thing... our water here smells like a pool almost...pretty strong.. thats why I decided I didn't want to be ingesting it anymore.. The britta will help with the chlorine big time.. I had one before and tested ppm of before and after, and the brita did reduce the ppm by around 60ppm as well :)

Thanks for the response on my grow... yeah the springtails I wasn't too worried about, the soil they were in actually seemed much more porous than the others so they did a pretty good job of letting the soil breathe.. wish I could order some for my next grow.. LOL... yeah I am going to have to figure out what my next plan is with this grow.. I think that I will be ok if I just get the commercial antifungal products and go from there... got my fingers crossed with this one... I just hope nothing happens to my silverback OG, she is going to be my last hope :)

damn brother ! your having a "bid style" grow with trial after trial stressing u out ! i know how you feel belee dat!! tell you this,, when my plants are in danger and im strapped i don't give a f about staying 100% organic i will grab whatever it takes (within reason) to stop whatever is attacking them and worry about cleaning them up after the threat is negated ! i find my final line of defense for a few things is "shultz insect spray" made from chrysanthemums it is powerful and says it can be used up to the day of harvest on veggies , so do you use a shotgun to eliminate skeeters too? lol sorry i just had to give you a little shit about the steamer! i once used pure white vinegar to attack some fungus gnats! not even thinking about ph almost killed the plant but a 5 gallon flush saved her and she went on to be a good plant i called her "pickles" maybe you should call that one "hot mess"
i have to haul water from the big machine in front of the grocery store at 25 cents a gallon i have been making a blend of 50/50 ro/well water to get the well water down to 200ppm and deal with the high manganese,ca,rust/iron, and im a water snob i drink alot 1-2 gal a day r/o or very low ppm spring water we use the r/o for cooking ,coffee etc. so you can imagine how much we spend on water! lol
dont worry bro cannabis is tough and will spring back might delay harvest day,
but your patient it seems so worst case you wait longer for those 99% organic/HB buds and have learned a bunch more, i've said it b4 were cannabis growers a breed of our own, we will be teaching our indoor methods to commercial food growers someday:goodjob::thumb:

Hey bro...hang in there! It's easy to sit here and say "he did what?!", but I get the at the end of your rope, trying to figure out a way to save your grow vibe going on. That's probably why it seems more often than not, more problems are caused by grower's "solutions" than the original problem.

Keep your head up! You are learning about dealing with these issues, and you are educating everyone reading this about dealing with these issues! Dealing with various adversities is what makes us better growers. Don't worry about letting anyone down...we're all learning from your efforts. :thumb:

But I'll throw in a
:goodluck: anyway for good measure!

Good luck bro. You've help a lot of growers out by sharing this information. Granted it was at the expense of your plants. Don't beat yourself up. I'm sure you've learned from this and that knowledge will make your next grow better. :peace:

Thanks everyone, today they looked a little better however the PM is still there, its inside all of the buds except the silverback OG and blackberry kush, but I did notice it starting to make its way onto the silverback OG as well now, on the lower buds... I cant wait till I can go get some SNS or serenade...I have to wait for this check in the mail which seems like its taking forever!!! hope my babies can wait that long... well I have a feeling that I may end up just pulling most of whats in this tent but I am going to wait until I spray the commercial products and see... I guess every grow can't be perfect unless you have a perfect sealed off and sterilized grow area, and I bet even they have things that go wrong... oh well, I guess now I know... If I see PM, rip the plant out... no purpose in letting it get to the rest of the plants.. 1 lost is better than a whole tent... we will see what happens the next few days but I really am thinking that this is not going to be a happy ending for grow 3 for me.. we will see..

Yo Big Irish Dude!! your post made me laugh my ass off!! too funny man!! Check your messages bro, sent you something.

Vape, thanks for the luck man! Yeah I had a feeling I should have just left them alone but curiosity got to me... I looked today and there not as bad as the original shock led me to believe so hopefully I can still manage to have some nice photo's to show in later flowering. I sent you a message, check it out!

Heirloom-....appreciate the good vibes...yep, I definitely learned with that one.. steam is definitely sudden death to leaves and buds... Note taken...lol!! I think I may be able to trim off the burnt parts of the buds, mostly the leaves got the worst of it... on the bright side (it will be much easier to trim with less leaves ) lol

Easydoesit- Thanks bro! yeah I think I was just having a rough few last days and this just added to it.. so I appreciate you spreading some cheer this way man! definitely felt good to see everyone's positivity here... It definitely helped me have a great rest of the day...

I am going to post some photo's in the next few days... I have to do a lot of trimming and defoliating of leaves as well as tying up some of the cola's because there falling over, so hopefully the next photo's will still be amazing to look at :) I appreciate all of you!!

Hey man sucks about that PM, although I have ordered some green cure myself just in case. Nasty stuff indeed. So sorry that it has made such a mess of all your effort.

I have been battling fungus gnats(I think that's what they are) myself and seem to have reduced their population heaps with a mixture of sticky traps, hot shot no pest strips, very long distance use of mosquito spray (we try anything don't we), and many hours of manual squishing the little buggers. I'm about to change my sticky traps to see how per day I catch and monitor that as an indicator of the population of gnats. The little buggers like to suck the sap out of new baby leaves, so die they must. I think the tea drenches help with upsetting them too, I seem to have more on the plant the closer it gets to T-day.

get yourself some mosquito dunks...they work well.. If your infestation is really bad, then you can get products like azatrol and azamax..

glad you got a titter from that i was cracking up just imagining your face of shock and horror to see them after your random act of savagery lol sound like they will turn around for you damn tough plant, i have 3 bbgums i just keep cutting leaves off of because they keep turning brown but the buds keep growing i know somethings wrong but out of sight out of mind lol they only have a week or 2 left
its all good in da loc'd out hood!

DUN DUN DUN!!!!! lol Well today I decided to take some horror photo's of my grow area... I still am not sure how well everything will turn out but I know that so far my blackberry kush is a trooper and still uneffected by the PM... she is supposed to run about 70 days so hopefully she will make it another 2-3 weeks... btw today is day 51 flowering for the girls... I am really unsure what to do with my sour bubble and 2 platinum bubba's, if you pull back any of the buds, most of them have PM on the insides so unless Serenade and SnS will get rid of this, along with a H2O2/water wash after trim to wash it off... I don't know if these ones are going to be any good. I hopefully will get my samples soon as well as my check so I can go pick up some new stuff at the hydro store that actually goes through the roots and kills the PM internally... I am hoping that it is not that expensive, but this might be my last straw to save my crops that are infected... we will see... The silverback og is still oK except for just a few of the smalls near the screen, so as long as I can keep it away on her for another 2-3 weeks, then I should get a good clean harvest out of her... My Holy Grail OG is also one that I think might make it, she did get pm, but didn't get it bad and so far I have been able to keep her ok with the garlic foliar sprays..

Well here are the photo's of my Fubar High Brix grow...lol...

Savage steamer experiment! My God man! I live in complete fear of PM and budrot myself and I am glad/sad you showed me the error of using a steamer to fight. My last three grows I don't think I used a spray bottle on anything from cutting to finish. In this hobby you must at any moment be ready to remove threats to the grow or yourself, unfortunately tough love is what it is.

Just a quick update....

Didn't get around to trimming off the dead leaves today, but got my overhead support screen added to the tent and hung most of the Silverback OG's that were too heavy to support themselves.

Tomorrow I will do a good defoliation of the tent, getting rid of any dense leaf area's as well as cleaning up the dead and damaged leaves.

Here are today's photo's
