Icemud's Breeding Projects And Motherchucking Pollination Extravaganza

Update time!!!! I figured that with April 20th aka 420 only 1 day away, now is a good time to post an update the Gods Gift Project that will be going into flowering within the next 2 weeks. (as soon as the clones all root).

Where from?
The Gods Gift seeds were part of a breeders personal collection that he allowed me to run, and originally came from a breeder he knew in Cali and they were F2 og kush x GDP. He popped them and liked it so much he made seeds so I guess what I was given would be F3?

How long?
I popped these gods gift seeds way back in Mid December and they have been vegging since then on a 24/0 schedule. Generally i start out at 24/0 for the first few weeks of new seedlings or clones and then move it to 18/6. Anyhow I did this but forgot to change it down to 18/6 so I just left it at 24/0... (first for everything right) :)

Phenos and sex:
I believe I have topped the Gods Gifts 2x since they were germinated and all 6 of the plants have very uniform growth and similar structure and leaves except for 1 of the 2 females which has a slightly different structure and growth to it. (phenotype 4)(seems to want to grow more like GDP which can be vine like on the lowers).

Overall I have found 2 confirmed females, and the other 4 appear to be males. I havent decided if I am going to use all 4 males to increase variation potential in the progeny, or if I will instead just select the best 2, but I still have a couple weeks to decide.

New Addition:
On this seed project I will be using the same "mothers" that I always use in my seed projects, but also will be adding a new strain to the project. On my very first seed project I reversed my black cherry soda using colloidal silver and crossed it with a black diamond og to create feminized seeds. Anyhow I didn't get many seeds from that particular cross and didnt store them properly for a few years so I have had trouble germinating them, but managed to get 1 to pop. Although I would like to phenohunt a few more of this BCS x BDOG cross, I'm going to just play my hand and see how it flowers out. So far on a stem rub it really smells like a 50/50 blend of both ok kush fuel and that fruity grape flavor from the BCS. I figured since both Gods Gift and also BCS x BDOG are both an OG kush crossed with a berry type strain, it may make for some very interesting plants. (Its my little experiment..lol).

Here is the tent all clean:

Here are all 6 of the Gods Gifts: ****Disclaimer.. all of the plants were extremely thirsty and needing water so in the photos they definitely are not as perky as they normally are when they have water... I fed them right after moving all the plants over to the new tent :)

Here are the individual Phenotypes of the Gods Gift

Thank you everyone who has joined along for the fun!!!! I appreciate all of you for helping to make this grow fun and interesting and I look forward to sharing how these Gods Gift perform. They really have quite an odor already in veg, and have been very easy to grow thus far with very little issues with nutrients or deficiencies. So far really happy with how they are performing and I hope good things are ahead :)

Stay tuned and I hope all of you have a safe and happy 4-20!!!

Oh yea.. Green J_ello Rocks!!!!! I cut 1/2 the water out and added it back with coconut water and wow.. tasty (no cannabis in it unfortunately..lol).

And by the way.. here was some of the keif I collected from just 1 of the apollo plants I deseeded: CHEERS!!!

Man oh man.....What a haul of seeds. Looking forward to the next project. Happy 420!

Happy 420 Magic Jim! Hope all is well and you had a very green holiday :)

Happy 420 Ice! i hope it was a good one bud!

Happy 420 Yeti!!! It was great for being on "shelter in". Have a good group of friends to play some video games with and lots of great ganja that was enjoyed :) Hope your 420 was amazing as well!

Wow that looks a nice result from Apollo 13 grow Ice. Nice work as always. Looking forward to your next run and I can’t wait to see how the BCS xBDOG turns out.

Thanks Lewy!! Very much appreciate the kind words!

Yea I'm really cureious about the BCS x BDOG too... 2 great parent strains.. the only question will be the stability of the crosses as the BCS X BDOG is a feminized seed, so from what I've gathered, a lot of breeders frown on using S1 seeds in breeding. I haven't seen any scientific evidence one way or the other whether breeding with S1's is factually bad.. so it will definitely be interesting to know :)

I also have a 2nd "experiment" in my upcomming announcement too :)

Hey Everyone!!!

Hope everyone has been safe, healthy and secure during these crazy virus times....

UPDATE TIME:

So I have decided what my next seed project will be, and.........

Fruity Pebbles OG (FPOG) will be my next seed project after popular demand and some personal curiosity as well.

The strain: Fruity Pebbles OG:
According to legend.. and google.. lol FPOG was a limited release by Alien Genetics where only 500 seeds were originally released. FPOG is a cross of (Green ribbon x GDP) x Tahoe Alien (Tahoe OG x Alien Kush). ***green ribbon is believed to be trainwreck x Afgooey.

Since I have 3 of the strains related in FPOG heritage (trainwreck, GDP and OG kush) I think this may be a very interesting project. I will be popping 7 FPOG seeds and doing an open pollination to croos the FPOG with iteself and also with my "mothers".

The PROJECT:

The "mothers" which are clones of my favorite strains have all been cloned, and the clones are rooted and were placed into soil as of April 26th.

The FPOG seeds all cracked within 48 hours from putting them into R/O water and placing the shotglass onto my warm stove above the pilot light. As of today, all 7 FPOG seeds were placed into soil. I am using EB Stones "Recipe 420" soil which I used on my current Gods Gift Project and for a cheap soil which is organic certified, its a great soil. (much much cheaper than other commercially used soils.

additional experiment....
Recently a buddy of mine gifted me with some seeds he picked up from different sources and cannabis events including some popular "hype" strains such as wedding cake, sundae driver, and others from breeders like cannarado and such... Anyhow.. I thought it would be interesting to try popping 1 of the wedding cake (S1) seeds (feminized) and including it with the FPOG project.

Now this is an experiment, so its unlikely I will ever give any of these away as I don't want to be responsible for somehow screwing up the gene pool by breeding with S1's... but I think it would be an interesting experiment to include it in the FPOG project and in the future plant them and see if they hermi, or are normal.. or??

Now I have read both sides of the argument from different forums and breeders about using plants from S1 seeds in breeding projects, and they both seem to be valid points.. Some say it bad because it increases likelihood of hermies, or unknown issues a couple generations down the line, and others say that its ok to do and wont cause any issues because you are re introducing the male chromosome... ... I haven't seen any science proving one way or the other so I will just play it safe, keep those to myself and experiment in the future.

One space left:
In this project, I have room for 1 more pot/plant to fit and I am heavily debating what I will put in its spot. I am very heavily considering taking a clone from the best looking female God's Gift I have going in a separate project as I think the GDP x OG kush and tight flavorful and colorful nug is very similar to FPOG and might compliment it well.

I am also debating about "playing the lottery" and popping a random oddball seed (regular) seed from my collection... This truely would be a gamble because theres about a 50/50 chance its male and will be a waste of space as it will get tossed, and it also could be a horrible phenotype which won't be "tested" BUUUTTTTTT...... If I'm lucky, and I choose a good seed, just maybe that I will get some crazy interesting cross out of it... but luck would definitely have to be on my side... and really this would also be an "experiment" and could be a waste of space....
Some of the seeds I was considering for this were:
stardawg x grape stomper
gorilla glue x sour grapes (my project)
sour grapes x black cherry soda (my project)

The reasonable common sense side of me tells me to go with the Gods Gift clone, as I already know its female, and I have 2 to choose from (in veg) so I can get an idea of what I am picking.... Still some risk but not as much as popping a random seed... plus I really like gods gift

What are your thoughts on what I should do?

I'm going to take clones of the Gods Gift this evening and get them rooting anyhow, but may decide to roll the dice and pop a random seed.... I'll decide in the next few days...

I will also post photos once the seedlings come up.

I'd go with the God's Gift. Generally, the consensus among breeders is to avoid hermies at all costs. BUT, there are exceptions to this. I think as long as you let any growers know the cross was with an S1, you're fine. Since true GDP is only available as a clone, I'd assume all GDP crosses have S1's somewhere in the line.

S1’s behave exactly like normal F2’s. You open up roughly 25% more recessive genes. For good or bad, the only way to know is run the offspring. Which you should do with any crosses you make.

Great points Mr. Krip... something in my gut tells me it just will bite me in the bottom later using the S1's so your input definitely comforts my gut feeling as well...

I know that I've read that a lot of old school breeders will cross a strain with another male that is similar, and then cross the resulting progeny back to the original mother which usually will result in about 75% of the genetics being of the original mother. They will then plant the resulting BX seeds and repeat this process with each generation becoming closer to the mother... so could possibly be this as well. I know this is how chocolate thai was brought back into the market from what i have read as well as other strains that lost the "male".

I've looked up the history on Gods Gift and it seems to be shrouded in mystery. It definitely makes me curious how they got the "male" in this cross.

It also makes me wonder how many of today's strains unknowingly have S1's bred into the lineage at some point... or with using reversed pollen. Definitely something I wan't to stray away from other than a few experiments :)

Thats good to know. Is there any issues down the line from using S1's?
