Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spectrum

Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect

Hey everyone!!!

I am back from my Christmas vacation and it was so refreshing to go to sweet home Chicago and visit my folks during the holidays :) Nothing is better than being around family and friends during the holidays and I even got some good home cooked meals, some special chicago favorite foods like Italian beefs, pizza and deli subs. I even got some nice weather mixed in with some good old midwest ice storms and some snow too so it really set the mood well for feeling like the good old days :)

So I got back and guess what the first thing I did was.....

Were you thinking check on my plants??.....

Well that was the 2nd thing other than drinking a huge cup of water...man I swear flying makes you so dry. It was pretty interesting too because in the back of the seats of the plane were multimedia touchscreens with movies shows, music and more, but the coolest thing was the flight tracker with realtime maps. It not only showed where the plane was, but the speeds and altitudes and most interesting temperature. At almost 37,000 feet, it was -54F out.. ?!!!! Holy cow! I never realized that temps really fell off that quickly at that height!

So after drinking a huge cup of water, and of course washing my hands of all the germs and crap on the plane from people sneezing and coughing all around, I walked to my tent as the suspense builds... Did my plants make it 6 days, did they all wilt? did something go wrong? So I opened the tent and BOOM! nothing but nice fat healthy looking plants and buds :) they survived the vacation :) I think turning the lights to 1/2 power really helped slow their water uptake and no issues whatsoever :) sweet deal!

So I also peeked in my other 2 tents and everything looked happy and healthy, tripple sweet!

So on to the updates:

The clone tent:

Well everything in this tent doubled in size over the week it seems, all the clones that were freshly planted have now shown good solid growth and a new set of leaves or three. All of them have a healthy green and no signs of deficiencies in the leaves at all :) Nice! I didn't feel the pots yet but I suspect that they are all good for another week before watering, with the exception of the large tangie in there so I will most likely hold off feeding them until needed and dry.

The VEG/Mother tent:featuring Budmaster GOD-4 led grow lights:

The Veg/Mother tent is looking great as well, and only the Ogiesel is showing some signs of stress and looks like possibly a K deficiency. The only plant that was a little wilty was the area 51 which is also the largest and bushiest of all the plants in this tent, so I will be giving them all a watering tonight. The Fire og and black diamond OG have really taken off and shown quite a bit of height growth and the 4 tangies are really starting to sprawl and take on some nice shape :) I still have not decided if I will only keep 2 or more at the end of it all, but most likely I will be including a couple of them in my next grow flowering run :)

The flowering Tent with the Budmaster COB led grow lights:
Well I can't say anything but wow, as these girls continue to grow and gain girth, and are still maturing, but not ready to be harvested yet as I had thought. I'm thinking about 1-2 more weeks max and they will be done but I still haven't gotten close and did a trichome check which will be coming either tonight or tomorrow to see where we are at. As far as calyx formation they continue to swell and get frostier, but I also am still seeing a fair share of white pistils growing and not quite mature yet so it may be a while still as they are supposedly sativa dominant. Even though not wilting the girls were ready for a feeding so I mixed up 3 gallons of r/o water and mixed in:

40ml of earth juice sugar peak 0-6-4
30ml of humboldt equilibrium
30 ml of micronutrients

I gave each of the girls enough water to see just a slight runoff to hopefully help leech some of the N in the soil and other than that nothing else was done to the plants :)

Hey DrCannabi! Happy Holidays!!! Thanks for the compliments! I've learned having a few recent jobs that required a decent amount of travel and also vacations so I've definitely had some practice and I think this time it was perfect as far as everything running smooth. I've had times where I left to come back to destroyed crops or dead plants due to pests or deficiencies or even drying out so I'm really happy things worked well. I've found that trying to time out the plants right before you leave to give them an extra day or 2 to get really dry, then giving them a surplus of water letting a good amount of runoff gather in the pans to soak up helps.

Turning the lights at 1/2 power or dimming them and/or moving the lights away from the plants also helps as it slows the uptake of water too. I have to obviously close my windows when gone but I've found that creating a nice breeze through the place by leaving a couple just cracked open with a fan in one helps to keep the temps normal as well and having my heater set to a nice 70F where at night it keeps them warm, but doesn't add to the light heat when they are on seems to work well.

I also use a evaporative humidifier and turn it on low, not that it adds a whole lot of RH to the air, but it does help normally with windows open add about 10% so with windows cracked I guess it probably is more like 15% which also helps during dry spells like we have here in socal winters. All of these little things seem to work for me and with each trip my plants seemed to stay healthier so I def would recommend them to anyone who needs to leave for a while. Next thing I want to try is a wick type feed or a needle/bottle type feed to keep moisture proper, but have to find the right components to build it.

Hope these tips help anyone that needs to leave for a short trip, and feel free to share any other tips that all of you might use :)

Happy New Year's DrCannabi!

Hey Graytail! Happy Holidays! I definitely am happy to see they are still going and growing, slowly at this point but the foxtails and calyx's keep growing and the lower buds keep getting more mature and frosty so I think they are getting close but still have some time to go :) There is 1 however that looks about ready so it may come down early or I may just leave it to go with the others. :) I can't wait to try them all and see which is best. I am loving that red/merlot/orange pheno, really odd why it just completely changed colors where the others didn't at all. I did read about a pheno that some people were calling the "blood orange" pheno where it turned purple like that, very strange but I like it :) haha, would match nice with my black cherry soda :)

I'm guessing about 2 more weeks I think will be it for this one, maybe sooner but the way things look I bet if I check the trichomes there still clear/cloudy. I may shoot some photos tonight of each pheno and number them with trichome pics :) I'm trying the hermied tangie tonight and it has me very up and energized :)

Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect

So about 10 days ago or so, I pulled tangie #4 because it started to show banana's and so I dried it in my drying box for 4 days, and then left for vacation. Since I didn't want it to overdry over the vacation and it was still pretty moist on day 4, I cut it down to about 1' sticks of bud and put them in my tallest curing jar, and closed the lid but left it open so about 1/4" or so of opening was at the top of the jar. My thoughts were that it would slow evaporation but still allow for a air exchange to prevent mold. After getting the watering with my plants situated tonight I pulled out some of the tangie to try, as well as cut the buds off the stems and into a jar for further curing.

The buds were nice and dry, almost on the edge of brittle, and so the technique I tried above seemed like it would work, only partially worked. Upon smoking the buds and smelling them they did smell very nice, and not grassy or anything in the least, very fruity and skunky smelling with a hint of citrus or orange which was a good thing :) I did notice that the dryness though made the buds slightly on the harsh side upon initial inhale, definitely throat burn on it which I don't like, but not overly harsh either which was good. I took about 3 hits from my glass bowl an waited and within seconds I definitely felt my mood change, from a 4 1/2 hour planeride unwinding to a mellow, energetic state and so even for being an early pulled hermie plant, wow, not to bad. :)

So the flavor on the inhale is hard to describe. Definitely a bitter orange type taste with a minty hew to it, and a skunky aftertaste make for an interesting blend. Not completely strong though either which is most likely a result of the hermie traits and pulling her very early.

The buds themselves were, well pulled early so they have a ton of red hairs, I did find about 6 seeds in the whole plant, not a whole lot, and since it was a hermie I was hesitant at first to even keep them but I figured what the heck, I'll label em and its better to have them than not. The calyx's at this point when pulled weren't even swelled so overall what looked like a plant that might be a nice yield, only amounted to 24g exactly dried. I wasn't going for weight this grow and only topped each plant once so I didn't expect a huge yield, but for being a hermie pulled early its not exactly bad either for just 1 of the remaining 7. :) at worst a 1/2lb...LOL

Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect

Oh I forgot to mention...

One of my friends had some bagseeds she put aside, and so I asked if she wanted them. Not sure what kind it was or even it it was any good but I thought it might be fun in the near future to pop some and see what comes up :) I have about 6 total.

That's awesome ice! Great advice. Sounds like we came up with the same methods lol. I've done a fair bit of traveling for work over the last few years and other than cutting my lights to half power, I've tried just about every method you have. Now that I have the Budmaster, I'll try it next time.

I bought a Blumats system but haven't set it up yet. I think it will be awesome once l get it going. Wondering how it will work with AACT drenches though? Should be ok.

Happy new year.

An Auto delivery AACT tea system would be awesome :) a nice vortex brewer hooked to a feed line on a timer.. wow that would be epic :)

Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect

Happy New Years eve everyone!!!! Last few hours of 2015!

I am just relaxing tonight, enjoying having the day off and some of my tangie I dried out so I decided to take some photos of my plants. I needed to get in and check the trichomes anyways and by the looks of it they are mostly clear with some cloudy, some plants are slightly more cloudy but all within that 1-2 week range of being finished :)

Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect

I also did a little work in my veg tent today:

I decided to go for a nice even canopy filled with budsites next grow so I figured with the 1-2 weeks left on my current flowering tent and a week of drying in there I figured I would trim/top all my plants in my veg tent to increase branching as well as really fill up the canopy with lots of budsites. Most of the older plants in the tent are nice and bushy (the 3 in the back which are area 51, ogiesel and black diamond og are all very bushy) and the fire OG was growing like a typical og, very lanky, not many branches so it needed more :) Also my tangies were all at the point where they were getting tall, but had some really nice formed auxillary branches so I decided to pretty much chop them in 1/2 which should really bush them out.

By the time the plants recover and show new growth, the other tent should be clear and these will get flipped to flowering under the Budmaster GOD panels. I'm waiting for the current COB grow to finish before flipping though because then I will move all my young vegging plants from my 3rd tent in to do a full veg under the COB's and then flowering with the GOD panels will allow me to not skip a beat and show how well they do in flowering at the same time. This should leave my 3rd tent open to get some clones of the tangies that will be going into flowering as well as the ogiesel so I have copies of each :) I think right now I will be keeping all except maybe #2 as it looks good, but just isnt as spectacular as the other 4. (#3, #5, #6, #8) If I only had to pick one it would be tough but I would probably have to go with #3 as the buds are the best looking, trichome formation is amazing, and the actual time to harvest seems shorter than the others :) all good things, plus has one of the most pungent smells :)

I also gave the girls a feeding today: all plants including my 3rd veg tent all got a mix of r/o water with:
hydrolyzed fish 2-4-0
organic B 1-1-1
humboldt equillibrium 1-1-2 (12:2 Ca/Mg)
potassium sulfate 0-0-4
humboldt bloom 0-10-0. 10% calcium

All of the leaves I took off the plants today went into my soil bin to compost. Seems to be working really well and the soil always destroys all the leaves within a week or 2 which is nice :) don't have to trash them now, just the stems :)

Well here are the photos of my veg tent with its new trimming/topping :)
